If you look carefully, a few of the arenas had a "3ICE" logo painted into the center circle of the ice. After a query of Google, 3ICE is a touring hockey league, comprised of six squads of players coached by former NHL players, and they play under a modified ruleset that closely resembles the NHL's overtime rules, with each team consisting of three skaters (hence the 3 in 3ICE) and a goalie. I guess it's like Ice Hockey's answer to basketball's BIG3 or Rugby Sevens.

Hey I never thought I'd see an arena from Belleville Ontario on your channel! Nice. I lived North of town for a decade. It used to be called the Yardmen Arena because Belleville was an important rail junction and still has a lot of train and trucking transport industry. The name Yardmen was paying respect to the railway workers. It was the home of the junior hockey team the Belleville Bulls who were located there from about 1979 until 2016 or so. With the arena without a tennant the Ottawa Senators moved their farm team there after a refurbishment of the arena. The city of Ottawa is about 3 hours drive down the highway (what you would call a motorway), closer to 2 if you really drive fast. So it was a good place geographically for them to put their team. Besides the main arena there are 2 other rinks, an indoor track, pool and gym. Most people from that area have used those facilities at some point. The XL Center was formerly the Hartford Civic Center, home to the New England Whalers of the NHL rival World Hockey Association starting in 1974, after spending two seasons in Boston. After the roof collapsed in a snowstorm in January 1978 just hours after a college basketball game, the Whalers temporarily relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts while the Civic Center roof was replaced and the arena expanded from 10,500 seats to 15,000. The NE Whalers became the Hartford Whalers when the WHA merged with the NHL for the 1979-80 season, and the Civic Center reopened in early 1980.
Fun fact: Upstate Medical Arena was one of the filming sites of the original Slapshot movie from 1977. Syracuse has had several pro hockey teams but was largely considered a hockey "graveyard" until the Crunch came around. Also, the whole "Syracuse Crunch" thing is more than likely a nod to Nestle, which had a factory near Syracuse in the 1990s. Crunch was one of five names in a poll for the team's name back in 1994. Also, it's funny how you mentioned the Royals and Clippers when you talked about Rochester and San Diego, yet failed to mention the Syracuse Nationals (now Philadelphia 76ers) while talking about Syracuse. Yes, there was once an NBA team in Syracuse NY. Also it probably would've been a good idea to mention the Knighthawks in the Rochester section since you briefly mentioned the Seals while talking about Sam Diego. Besides those minor nitpicks, great job!
It is also where the modern-day 24-second shot clock was invented, widely regarded as the innovation that saved the NBA. The original is on display (and runs constantly!) at nearby Armory Square.
@@edwardott1286 that's one of my favorite landmarks in the city. One I always smile at when going past Armory Square to go to Crunch (and now Spark) games at the Ol' Barn along with other events
Also should be noted that the Abbotsford Centre home of the Abbotsford Canucks is also located on the primary Campus of the University of the Fraser Valley. I was a student there and the centre is used for the Graduation ceremonies of the University.
The XL Center in Hartford used to be the home of the Hartford Whalers, who moved to Carolina to be the Carolina Hurricanes, so it had a large capacity because it was the home of an NHL team. As well, it is the home of the UCONN basketball and hockey teams
As someone who has spent probably a little too much time at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse over the last couple decades, I gotta say it's quite the environment. The swords on the corners of the Humongotron, as you call it, fold out and shoot columns of fire during the Monsters intro. It's absolutely insane during Monsters playoff runs, especially considering that they take the tarps off the upper bowl and pack almost 19,000 people in there. Also, if you're planning a trip, Fridays are dollar dog and beer night.
19:14 The Gulls name has been used a few different times by teams in a number of leagues that have previously used the building. Must be a popular name in the area. For a few years in the mid-70s, it was home to the San Diego Mariners of the WHA, the biggest rival to the NHL throughout its existence from 1972 to 1979.
@@FuckYooToob I think that may have been the senior WHL that was around until some time in the mid-70s. The World Hockey Association (WHA) didn't start play until 1972.
2nd comment, the Syracuse Crunch arena is a beauty! The Coca Cola Arena would do a lot of farm exhibitions (like livestock), I saw the Eukanuba Super Dogs in there once. The wooden roof on the Rosemont Arena is beautiful. The Iowa arena is impressive. Love the old style of the Milwaukee one.
The Milwaukee Admirals play at when it was built was called the Milwaukee Arena and Auditorium. It's a two building complex on a large city block just north of Wisconsin Ave. the main street running through the downtown!
Growing up 15 minutes outside of Hershey, I've been to the GIANT Center so many times. So many Bears games and other events. It's of course pretty standard, but I have a lot of love for it. Especially with hockey, for rivalry and playoff games, it gets LOUD for minor league hockey and I love it. By the way, they used to play in the Hersheypark Arena from like 1930s to 2002. It's where I saw my first Bears games when I was anywhere from four to seven years old (1998-2002), it's where Wilt Chamberlain had his legendary 100-point game and it's where, when I worked at Hersheypark during summer in between college semesters, I could sit and eat my lunch in one of the seats lol. I'd recommend doing a video about old-time arenas like Hersheypark Arena. Ones that are no longer in use, still exist, or were demolished. I think it'd be a fun project.
UWM Panther Arena is the original home of the Milwaukee Bucks (originally called the Milwaukee Arena, then the MECCA Arena for the Milwaukee Exposition Convention Center and Arena). Like a lot of arenas in this video has hosted a WIDE variety of tenants. The current list of tenants for UWM Panther Arena are the UW-Milwaukee men's basketball program, an indoor soccer team (Milwaukee Wave), and (not recently, but technically still a tenant) a women's roller derby team.

Actually, the Tech CU Arena is connected to the Sharks Ice venue, where both Sharks and Barracuda practice. And having an arena right next to is actually convenient.
1:02 Considering the team name, that would have been interesting if the Checker's chain had the naming rights. However, during the late 70s and early 80s, the St. Louis Arena (then home of the NHL's Blues) was known as the Checkerdome due to the Blues owner at the time being the CEO of Ralston-Purina, a company known for making mainly dog food. Their logo is kind of checkered.
The PPL Center isn't boxed in by those buildings, they /are/ part of the PPL Center. The concourse is the main hallway of the building on the Hamilton Street side and across that hall from the rink is Tim Horton's and Chickie's and Petes. I believe the suites are also accessed from the upper floors of those buildings, but I can't be certain on that, I've never been in a suite.
The arena then was renamed to US Cellular Arena before UW-Milwaukee bought naming rights to the arena, despite three teams owning their portion of the arena. Milwaukee Admirals (AHL), Milwaukee Wave (MASL) and the UW-Milwaukee Panthers (NCAA Basketball). The naming rights contract for the Panthers ends soon as the Milwaukee Admirals are next in the bid.
So fun fact: The Toyota Arena that the Ontario Reign play in, was originally built for the Ontario Reign, but when they were an ECHL team. As you know by now, most ECHL teams don't have very large capacity arenas. Toyota arena can hold about 10k people which is a lot for an AHL team, let alone an ECHL team, and they used to regularly sell out games. The Reign still do well as far as attendance is concerned though. The Reign switched rosters, and leagues back in 2015, with the Manchester Monarchs so that the players could be closer to LA, and the LA Kings are the parent team, and only about 60 miles away.
The next step below the AHL on the hockey ladder is the ECHL, originally called East Coast Hockey League until they absorbed the old West Coast Hockey League. Finding good photos might be a challenge, but might this be on your to-do list? BTW, I don't blame you for struggling with "Adirondack"; it's pronounced "ADD-er-RON-dack".
Just happened starting this year, but the Eagles aren't sponsored by Budweiser anymore. Their naming rights expired, and now they're sponsored by Blue Credit Union, putting the facility under the name of Blue Arena. It's mostly the same inside, except the seats are now cushioned leather instead of hard plastic. A very welcomed change indeed
The Milwaukee Admirals arena was originally the MECCA Arena and was the first major sports venue in Milwaukee. It was the home of the Milwaukee Bucks until the late 80s.

I like how Syracuse jammed some seats on the stage at one end. It reminds me of that Russian World Cup Stadium (and the host of the opening game in Brazil) that built some janky extra stands to temporarily boost capacity. Sometimes janky is fun.
There actually used to be seats on the stage in Syracuse. They were more like moveable bleachers that were only there for Crunch games (I never really saw them when the Silver Knights were in Syracuse before they became Utica City FC and IDK if they were used when the Smash existed since the Smash left before I was born, but hey maybe the Spark will bring them back?), removed for concerts and other shows, and they haven't returned since 2016.
@@thenightmaricsenpai524 Many noted acts played the War Memorial (as longtime and former Syracusans such as myself call the place), such as the Rolling Stones (several times in the '60s), Elton John and Elvis Presley; it also hosted many multi-act rock 'n' roll shows in the mid- and late '50s.
@@VincentPaterno-hs2fv yeah they've added bits to the doors leading into the main bowls of the arena that showcase some of the legendary acts that have played at the Ol' Barn. Also yeah some still shorten it to the War Memorial, I fluctuate between ol barn and Upstate Medical Arena. Non sports events are really interesting to watch there. I remember turning my head to see the stage at Lee Brice since I was on the State St. side, but I usually get seats in section 213 which is fine with me since I love joining in taunting the opposing goalie whenever the Crunch score.
The Dollar Loan Center is also the home of the Vegas Knight Hawks of the Indoor Football league. The Henderson Silver Knights are also the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights
Van Andel Arena was home to the Grand Rapids Rampage (AFL) and I believe the Wells Fargo Arena us home to the Iowa Barnstormers (IFL) and the Dollar Loan Center is home to the Vegas Knight Hawks (IFL)
Madison Square Garden was modeled after the Adirondack Bank Center also known by the locals as 'The AUD'. Scenes for the film 'Slap Shot' was also shot there.
I enjoy watching these type of video’s. I live in London,Ontario,Canada which is in-between Toronto & Detroit. We have the very popular “OHL” (Ontario Hockey League) which is for 16-20yr olds & London has the biggest “OHL” arena & i believe the biggest arena in all of junior hockey if i’m not mistaken but if not i’d say at least in the top 3 at least in which London’s arena (Budweiser Arena) holds a little over 10,000 people & the team is called the “London Knights” which is owned by the “Hunter Brothers” (Dale & Mark Hunter) & there is another “Hunter” brother (Tim Hunter) but he has nothing to do with the “London Knights” as far as i’m aware. The “Hunter Brothers” purchased the “Knights” in the late 90’s or early 2000’s & had a new arena built which was built right downtown London & is an absolutely awesome arena & their home games are every Friday evening & sometimes on Sunday’s & home games are always sold out & if not sold out then it’s pretty darn close & it’s been that way ever since that arena was built & the Knights have won two “Memorial Cups” & a couple of “OHL” league championships under the head coaching of part owner Dale Hunter who has been head coach ever since that arena was built but he didn’t coach for one season because he was coach of the Washington Capitals & Mark Hunter took over head coaching duties for a season. Anyways it would be cool if you did a video on “OHL” arenas because there are some buties such as London as i stated & Windsor now has a beautiful arena that holds around 6,500 people & a handful of other nice “OHL” arenas.
The All State arena was supposed to be built to be the home of the Chicago Cougars of the WHA. But the team and league folded before construction started. When it finally got built it didn't have the refrigeration for ice. That was added to accommodate the Wolves.
I don’t believe so. The Whalers played at the civic center which I believe collapsed. Don’t quote me but I think the XL Center was built on the same location but is a different arena.

Also the Syracuse Nationals, now the 76ers, first played there (EDIT: I see you mentioned that after I read your whole comment, oops)
@@ThePhl4ever no worries!
I got a defunked IVERSON NATS jersey.
Nice video! You should really go through European hockey arenas. For example Swizerland, Germany, Finland and Sweden.
The Rockets use to play at Pechanga Arena in San Diego before relocating to Houston.
Love your videos and dry humour mate. Keep it up and have a great new year!
I believe UConn will soon have an on-campus hockey arena
As someone who has spent probably a little too much time at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse over the last couple decades, I gotta say it's quite the environment. The swords on the corners of the Humongotron, as you call it, fold out and shoot columns of fire during the Monsters intro. It's absolutely insane during Monsters playoff runs, especially considering that they take the tarps off the upper bowl and pack almost 19,000 people in there. Also, if you're planning a trip, Fridays are dollar dog and beer night.
Love the video, it's weird when you work for an ahl team and see the building you go to frequently in a video being commented on
19:14 The Gulls name has been used a few different times by teams in a number of leagues that have previously used the building. Must be a popular name in the area. For a few years in the mid-70s, it was home to the San Diego Mariners of the WHA, the biggest rival to the NHL throughout its existence from 1972 to 1979.
I think the "Gulls" was established in 1960 in WHA?
Because of their move to Arizona State University's arena, the NHL's Arizona Coyotes play in a smaller arena than their AHL affiliate Tucson does
that’s sad
The Blue Jackets also play in a smaller arena than the Monsters, albeit only by about 400 seats.
Hershey Bears Arena is nice especially because its not in a big city and it easy to get out and not stuck in traffic if you know your exits
B-E-A-R-S BEARS BEARS BEARS!
I’ve been a hockey fan for a decade and I only learned a couple of years ago that it was not the Ontario in Canada and I was blown away
I'd love for you to consider doing videos on NCAA hockey arenas. Some of them are unreal.
Do the major juniors next! (WHL/OHL/QMJHL)
Wonders if this person would catch that one team in the WHL plays in two arenas
UWM Panther Arena is the original home of the Milwaukee Bucks (originally called the Milwaukee Arena, then the MECCA Arena for the Milwaukee Exposition Convention Center and Arena).
Like a lot of arenas in this video has hosted a WIDE variety of tenants. The current list of tenants for UWM Panther Arena are the UW-Milwaukee men's basketball program, an indoor soccer team (Milwaukee Wave), and (not recently, but technically still a tenant) a women's roller derby team.
Seriously, nothing for Bakersfield, what with Space Mountain sitting next to it?
I love your videos! Would love to see a NLL arena video!
I love bojangles coliseum in Charlotte. It has a very rich history of nwa/wcw wrestling and its just got that classic old school vibe about it.
I've caught a Wolves game at the Allstate Center before. It's nothing fancy, but it has all the things you'd expect.
I have been to the Coachella Valley Firebirds Arena I think the atmosphere is pretty great

Actually, the Tech CU Arena is connected to the Sharks Ice venue, where both Sharks and Barracuda practice. And having an arena right next to is actually convenient.
Can you please do a video of the ECHL if you haven’t yet it’s double A hockey under the AHL
4:41 The "Barre" in Wilkes-Barre is pronounced "berry."
“Burra” too.
Can you do the ECHL next please
1:02 Considering the team name, that would have been interesting if the Checker's chain had the naming rights. However, during the late 70s and early 80s, the St. Louis Arena (then home of the NHL's Blues) was known as the Checkerdome due to the Blues owner at the time being the CEO of Ralston-Purina, a company known for making mainly dog food. Their logo is kind of checkered.
Acrisure and the Firebirds are absolutely awesome. So much fun 🙌
The arena in Milwaukie was the 1st nba home for the bucks the Bradley center is next door followed by their current stadium
The Bradley Center *was next door, north of Panther Arena and south of Fiserv Forum.
Keep up the great work!
If you want to do more hockey, NCAA college hockey has some small but great arenas! Yale's in particular is incredibly unique!
And Princeton's iconic Baker Rink celebrates its centennial in 2023!
These jokes hit hard. Fantastic video
I laughed so hard at your pronunciation of Adirondack 😂.
It’s AD-eh-RON-dack.
Good effort though!
It didn't sound right. I hope I didn't hurt the bank's feelings.
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums 😂😂😂
Bro how are u going to "take this one off" on my home town one
The PPL Center isn't boxed in by those buildings, they /are/ part of the PPL Center. The concourse is the main hallway of the building on the Hamilton Street side and across that hall from the rink is Tim Horton's and Chickie's and Petes. I believe the suites are also accessed from the upper floors of those buildings, but I can't be certain on that, I've never been in a suite.
damn. the condors have a nice arena and you didn’t say anything about it 😭
4:10 “that’s not the Springfield from family guy is it?” Got me fuming, ITS THE SIMPSONS OMJJJHHHHJHVBHFGG-
the milwaukee arena used to be called the mecca and was home of the bucks of the nba up into the late 80's before they moved to the bradley center
I would like to see stadiums from the Southern Professional Hockey League
“Good luck without any Sri Lankans on your team”
Would love to see one about ECHL arenas. PS, Go Bears!!!
YAY! Thank you so much for doing my suggestion! Have a great New Year!
ECHL teams next?
A legenrary video! You rock man, it just seemed you were a bit down, hopefully it is just a cold, because we love you and cannot wait for the next video... P.S. I would love to see your your take on the stadiums of Wollongong, because it would be so unique and done the right way
Fun fact about the Abbotsford arena. Design elements were taken from Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg and incorporated in the build!
I remember turning my head to see the stage at Lee Brice since I was on the State St. side, but I usually get seats in section 213 which is fine with me since I love joining in taunting the opposing goalie whenever the Crunch score.
agree with a lot of the comments below requesting ECHL...especially when a team playing in an ECHL arena has 3x the capacity of their NHL affiliate!
Could you do a video about college hockey arenas
The Dollar Loan Center is also the home of the Vegas Knight Hawks of the Indoor Football league. The Henderson Silver Knights are also the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights
Van Andel Arena was home to the Grand Rapids Rampage (AFL) and I believe the Wells Fargo Arena us home to the Iowa Barnstormers (IFL) and the Dollar Loan Center is home to the Vegas Knight Hawks (IFL)
I will let your pronunciation of Ad-uh-RON-dack slide since you followed it up with a steamed hams reference.
Madison Square Garden was modeled after the Adirondack Bank Center also known by the locals as 'The AUD'. Scenes for the film 'Slap Shot' was also shot there.
SPRINGFIELD is from THE SIMPSONS not Family Guy as stated. That would be Quahog.
Steamed hams is from Family Guy though right?
Anyone else notice he said Springfield and mentioned Family Guy not the Simpsons
I noticed
Next video, ECHL arenas
19:26 The exterior of this arena and its surroundings look like a modern warehouse store within the commercial park area.
I was just at an Abbotsford Canucks game! I found a way onto the roof and you can see the border and over it from the roof.
Can you do the ECHL teams?

Milwaukee really didn’t have old school train stations that looked like that that I can think of. Was just a practical design for the venues
Can we see OHL next?
The rest of the pro leagues first, then the amateur leagues.
I guess the XL Center hosted the Whalers?
I don’t believe so. The Whalers played at the civic center which I believe collapsed. Don’t quote me but I think the XL Center was built on the same location but is a different arena.
@@connoromelia4176 Just the roof collapsed. It’s the same arena in a shopping mall that the Whalers played in

also Springfield is from the Simpsons.
Did you forget that Allstate shoots off fireworks, flares, fire, and sparks during the intro and also shoots off fireworks after every goal.
Another cool fact about the UW Milwaukee Panther arena, was the old MECCA where the Milwaukee Bucks started playing.
You didn’t mention how old Hershey Bears rink is it is so old it’s been around since like DHL started believe it or not what the DHL I said AHL yeah
The Syracuse arena was once home to an NBA team, the Nationals, which have since become the Philadelphia 76ers.
How about the ECHL arenas
Hershey Bears’ arena is literally in the parking lot of Hershey Park, honestly a power move
