Xander is one of my favorite TTRPG people. He's so fun to watch, and an absolute delight to DM for. Wonderful, wonderful person. (I am the person who wrote and ran the birthday game he references in this episode at 7:24 or so where he played a Celestial Warlock, pact of the Chain, which we made into a magical girl with a sprite familiar).
Xander playing Ricky and realizing it was a reskinned Druid really opened my eyes to adding flavour and character without being constrained by traditional class descriptions. I think Ricky Huckster is an incredibly successful character that absolutely nails the feeling of a greedy little troublemaker, something I'd never seen from a druid before. It really took some blinders off of how I play and how I DM. Thanks Xander!
Been watching Xander's appearances since I saw him guest star on LA by Night back in the day. If you like what he does, you should look up Shikar! It's a fantastic stream, 12 episodes in, and Xander's character there is one of my favorites that he has ever done. Tons of depth with a surface-level shell of goofball. Prime Xander!
Once I began describing my abilities and spells according to character themes, it became way more fun to actually *use* these abilities. Mechanics just turned INTO story!
Battle Master Fighter 3 + Unarmed Fighting Style + Monk 1 = "Battle Dancer." I have made two of them: one based on hula, and one based on haka. The hula character dipped into Peace Cleric 1 and he chose spells as well as dances (maneuvers) that were based on helping others: Dance of the Music God (Rally), Dance of the Sky Father (Maneuvering Attack), and Dance of the Earth Mother (Goading Attack). The haka character dipped into Undead Warlock 1 and chose dances (maneuvers) meant to strike fear and pain in her enemies: Dance of the Death God (Menacing Attack), Dance of the War God (Commander's Strike), and Dance of the Ocean God (Trip Attack - as if a wave knocked them over.) I think either of them could make use of the Eldritch Claw tattoo and the Coiling Grasp tattoo which are flavored as tendrils since there is squid or octopus imagery related to at least one deity in both pantheons - but you could also flavor the damage as light or wind.

My daughter's kenku monk's unarmed attacks were flavored as a peck to the face. It was literally the selling point to get her to play. :)
Xander is Amazing, very knowledgable and always great to watch!
He’s underrated in this scene, for sure! Amazingly talented.
💯

I am seriously digging all the different peeps they're bringing on to talk about stuff!!! MOAR
This is great! I want to build more characters with twists to make me feel different from others.
Hyped to see Xander as a guest! Great topic and chat.
These uploads make my day.
We’re so glad you’re here!
Tons of great energy and great tips, thanks ya’ll 🤘
Oh man. Amy and Xander in one video. I'm already giggling.
I've always wanted for a painter's bard or a sculpturist's bard as a sub class.
Maybe some extra spells like Color Spray or Stone Shape.
XANDERRRRRRRRR!!

Dude someone needs to make an official Spider-Man subclass. Totally not biased at all haha
Hahahahaha!
flavor normally changes nothing mechanically, damage included, is purely astetic
