I first started using it last year after discovering the DungeonCraft channel. I find it keeps people honest. It's not something I use constantly, but during complex encounters to maintain the integrity of that encounter.

I love that the guy working for one of the largest physical terrain companies quotes Sly Flourish, someone whose largely focused on theatre of the mind. It's reasons like this the D&D community is thriving. It's good to see collaboration, even at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Jason has had some amazing terrain on Realm Smith. Its good seeing him and Nate on D&D Beyond, thank you Joe for bringing some really interesting guests on.

I'm a big fan of using terrain in D&D and I agree with Nate: the best effect you have is when you describe the scene and put the terrain on the table after that. Also, that's absolutely true that players have more ideas, different ideas, when they have something to look at, even if it's as simple as couple trees and a house. That house may have an empty bucket nearby that you didn't bother to describe and just put it there because it looked nice, but now your players want to use that bucket for something and it's great.

I was expecting some train tables that impact the combat to make it more dynamic like it is to a lesser extend used in the out of the abyss random encoutners
