- Let's walk through what exactly classifies as a non-current asset! From fixed assets to Goodwill, we'll explore the ins and outs of these important components of a balance sheet. Assets are classified as tangible and intangible accounts which have a future economic benefit. We are covering noncurrent assets which will have an economic value beyond a year.
5 examples include:
1) Fixed Assets: tangible and physical assets used in the business that are depreciated over their useful life
2) Land: physical land owned
3) Intangible Assets: a non-physical asset that has value like a copyright, trademark or tradename
4) Goodwill: value of an acquisition over net assets purchased
5) Held-to-Maturity Investments: debt investments to maturity which are held at cost
