As a cellist myself, I’ve been inspired by Yo-Yo for years. This simple video, intonation so perfect, so hard to do.....peaceful....exactly what the world needs to hear right now.
I love this song for so many reasons. I am from Appalachia (East Tennessee) and used to play the cello. I had the pleasure of hearing Mark O'Conner play it with our local symphony and he even gave everyone a copy of the CD single. I plan on having this and Simple Gifts played at my funeral. I was lucky enough to see this performed live in Portland, Oregon. It was the encore after the Bach Cello Suites. I can’t describe how achingly beautiful that moment was for me. Many of you watching this know how I felt.
Watching him perform the Bach Cello Suites in Chicago in 2019 is one of my life's peak experiences. It was transforming. Such a kind soul to give us a glimpse into it and he so readily shares his gift of beauty.
