Somebody mentioned an engine hoist as a cheaper alternative lol! An engine hoist only holds its payload straight up, doesn't extend anywhere near the measurements displayed in this video. That is kind of like saying, "Who needs $20,000 prime lense?? I got a cell phone! Friggin Arri scammers". Obviously marketed to rental houses for people who need to rent it for a specific situation. I think the Max is pretty impressive, obviously not something a grip carries around in their back pockets.

3 sections of Extruded square pipe can solve that problem for waaaaaaay less then what that stand costs.
