Hey Rob, not a bad walk with a few casts. Could certainly think of a worse place to be. Nothing like being surrounded by nature with the sound of running water. Good day with or without a fish. Thanks Robbie....
You are a brave dude doing an uncut fly vid and you are even braver taking a fly rod anywhere near a location like that. If that was me in that spot the only thing I would have caught would have been the blackberry bushes. My last fly fishing escapade was in the Ovens a few ks shy of Harrietville and the only thing that took a bigger hit than the vegetation was my fly box which was close to empty by the end. I was very glad that I was alone and no one saw the fish laughing at me.
I can tell you one thing that hits the vegetation up around Harrietville harder than your flies, the Yowie. He was laughing at you too, but don't be put off!
Hiya rob, mate you found tranquillity, what a beautiful spot and you know how it is ,one day they are queuing up for the bait and another teasing you... Great stuff and hope your all well .. 😎🏴
The anticipation and expectation of a fish strike is exactly what I do every time I make a good presentation mate, I get a good chuckle out of it. Can't wait to pick up my fly outfit soon. Gonna be fun I reckon.
Wow Robbie.... showing some skills there mate....I know sfa about fly fishing....also noticed you fish against the flow...just showing my ignorance mate .. enjoyable as always... thanks again...
Love yourefly fishing adventures. Can you possibly show us how to put the fly hooks on and the teasers. As in new to this and am having trouble seeing how you guys put hooks on .I really won't to lern more .please Roby. Would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for all your time to show us buitifull places and even more beautiful fish.

My uncle bernie had 53 bloody fly rods some of the old split cane rods to day would fetch 5.000 to 12.000 bucks a pop. one is octagonal weight is off the chart. thats bloody tight as area not easy to do that not by a long shot top stuff mate.

Hey Robbie, recently got into fishing and have been watching your videos ever since. I was wondering what the best kind of places to find redfin would be (Lakes vs Rivers. etc.) and how small of a squidgy I should be using when fishing for them. I've tried fishing for hours in various places and have caught almost nothing and need some advice. Love your videos mate, keep up the good work, I've learned most of what I know about fishing from this channel. Cheers
Thanks Michael. Haha I am a very novice fly fisherman. If they don't like my stimulator, then it's time to use lures. LOL In saying that last year I used a fly called a half down hopper and it was absolutely awesome.
Hey Robbie good stuff, have you ever tried euro nymphing? Running super light line with some high vis line as sighter and running a nymph alone, I switched to it recently and it’s absolutely deadly in deeper streams
@@robbiefishing I hadn’t until a few weeks ago either, and geez it’s awesome, completely different to any other type of fishing but I guarantee you’ll catch stupid amounts of trout in the right rivers if you do it properly ! But you can’t beat a dry fly take and it’s a lot more setting up than an egg beater with a lure lol
I noticed you missed a couple of takes. The vexed issue of the strike and when to do it. The wisdom of the ages is to not strike too quickly, but, what exactly does "too quickly" mean? when fishing on the Itchen it means you see the take, pause, while you say "God save the Queen" (Victoria that is old chap) then strike. The thinking is, this gives the rising trout time to take, turn and head back down so when you strike the trout is better positioned relative to you to set the hook. Trust me it does not always work, also, it seems to take an age between seeing the take and striking, but, that's the guidance from the chalk streams of Old Blighty. To add some curry to the mix this is precisely the opposite to indicator nymphing (vulgar colonial practice), where you strike as fast as you can. This means swapping between dry and nymph fishing can have your reactions all out of whack. "God save the Queen" a bit dated? I suggest "wait on the take" keeps your mind in the game.

Robbie, a beautiful little NE creek which probably has benefited from our wet summer. Good fun outing in potentially very snakey conditions. Chp

Beautiful Robbie, gets me keen to go fly fishing. 👏

I think the nice size trout are in creeks about 3 times this size. Like up above lake buffalo.
Thanks Robbie - after seeing that video I might have to try to find my fly rod and see if I can get off a duck
Thanks mate. Once you start you won't stop.
A boil under your fly mate, might want to get that checked :) Great vid as always.....
Hahaha thanks mate.

Your not letting it drift long enough in the bigger pools
Awesome vid! I have no idea how to fly fish hahaha. I'd stuff it up real bad 😂
Thanks mate. haha It takes a bit of practice, but it is a lot of fun trying. It can be a HUGE test of your patience though. LOL
@@robbiefishinghaha yeah I bet lol
Nice to see some twig water fly fishing warts and all. Reckon if they don't want a sz16 royal stimmy they're not worth catching.

💛...the trout didn't see you because you're standing out, it was because you're outstanding... ok, this dad is going to bed...
Hahaha
I ear the the ear gave you a good fight Robbie. Uncut videos show how it really was rather than selective editing later. 👍👍👍
Thanks Frank. I really enjoy them too to be honest.

Thanks so much mate. I will definitely keep that in mind.
I'm pretty good with my herbicides, and we can get rid of the blackberries if need be 🤣👌
haha They're a double edges sword. They provide great cover, but are also in invasive weed and major pain in the backside! LOL

Fly fishing was invented for chess champions ,, & kids that can't keep still 😀👍👍
