When I did the Annapurna Circuit by bike we went up from Jomson to the snow level above muktinath... I Had an SPO2 of 72%, so we descended and all was good 2 days later
As someone who enjoys hiking in general but not Everest level hiking I still found this very informative and had helpful information overall and I’ll definitely take it into consideration for some of my own hikes in the future, great video!
@@DrJamesGill confined to bed for 2 whole days. Tried everything to help climatize, from Coca tea to breathing exercises, from over the counter drugs to black market ones, from magnetic bracelets to ear plugs... the only thing that did the trick for me was plunging into cold water every hour, like a makeshift sensorial chamber. No lights, no sounds. Just very cold water. And just like that, with the same speed it came, it went away. On my return to Lima, a quick check-up assured everything was fine. Scary as. Thank you ever so much for another fantastic and insightful video.
Would very much like to watch a video explaining the compound EBC-46 (also called tigilanol tiglate) and the potential it holds for successful treatment of cancer and any available additional information on it.
11 people in the study Some data anecdotal Does hydration also help eliminate the excess acid in your urine? On Kilimanjaro I drank 3-4 liters per day, no diamox, lots of urine, no problems: just my experience
How much of the population of mountain climbers suffer from AMS? If you're thinking of climbing mountains where AMS is a possibility then you're likely fitter and possibly younger than the general population. Given that, a group of 11 people is really poor, have those people been chosen because they had previously suffered AMS?
Hello Dr. Are you planning/attempting a summit "expedition" or there just to provide medical support? (Apologies if I missed a previous video answering this question).
I'm going to climb a peak that's over 7000meters, and i have a question i'd like to ask. What are your thoughts on using Diamox as aclimatisation tool ? For example, I go to lets say 5100 camp, i use diamox 24hrs prior , go to 5100, take diamox again, climb to 6100 next day, sleep there, go back down to base camp in 4400meters, take rest for 2days, and then go back to same altitudes without Diamox? Would this be a decent plan, or do you reckon it's better to take Diamox even on the next ascends i'll be going?
I planned to go EBC. How long can I take it during the trip? Is it okay to take it till Day 9 of hiking uphill till reached EBC? Or I skip it during the acclamatization days? Thank you in advance Dr
Our favorite doctor, just casually dropping an informative video from the Khumbu Valley. I'm just going to say what we're all thinking, he's so dreamy
Causal?!? Clearly didn’t watch all the way through - I was chased off the mountainside by a raging, roaring bull!! 🤣
I love waiting for these videos because occasionally hes just in the most random places 😭
I do try!

@user-qz4qi4ft4b that’s quite a drop! Lowest I had was 86%
This was so helpful and professionally explained my friend, thx for this fantastic upload!
Glad you enjoyed it! I’m always a bit uncertain about these ones which deviate from the typical clinical bits.

@user-ft1zp4tq5c very please it was beneficial. Do you have any climbs planned?

Scaling deadly mountains including the Nanga Parbat would require to be properly equipped too
Doctor James and The Yak the crossover we didn't know we needed !!
😂😂
Wish I’d seen this before trekking Peru. Flying from Lima to Cusco was definitely a mistake.
Hope nothing serious happened?

@pedrobsmarques wow that sounds like quite the story, glad it settled though!
@@pedrobsmarques Too late but you can travel from Lima to Cusco by train or bus takes couple of days but all worth it.

Thankfully I don't experience AMS. Very informative so thank you for sharing!
Unrelated, there is one spelling error. There are three l's in fulfill.
Thanks for that! Must have missed it doing the edit!

@DrJamesGill - How often were you consuming Diamox on your hike up to the base camp?
