I headed to the beach to do some fishing but find more than just fish. This portion of the beach hardly get much human activity and it really shows when you see how much more wildlife there is here than where the beach is beat down by the hoomans.
You can really see the food chain as the coquina mollusks are at the bottom and the crabs (blue, speckled and ghost) and also whiting all come to feast on them as the come out of the sand. Then hopefully the crustaceans and whiting attract the attract the bigger predator fish.
One of the best parts of surf fishing is to be on the beach and be around all this cool nature.
Oh and sharks. Sharks a cool too.

Did you take Park Rd 22 as far south as it goes? If so, how far were you able to continue on the beach heading south? Cool video.

Yes it’s an Atlantic sharpnose you can tell by the pale white spots on its skin and the almost flat pointy nose

I've been catching lots of baby whiting lately as well. Great live bait size, but I'm normally looking for cut bait.
There're usually bigger ones out a bit deeper.

What lb test line would you suggest for surf fishing for reds, trout, and jack crevalle? I have never been surf fishing, but picked up some surf rods for when I go to SPI.
I planned on using 30# braid with a 20 foot leader of 60# mono connected with the FG knot. I was told that was a bad idea and that I need 30# mono as a main line or the abrasion from the 2nd bar would ruin my line.
What are your suggestions?

So I have question for all people in the comments and you to so I don’t live at the beach and love to do beach fishing so when you set us with your rod holders I know you can’t start it off in the water but if the tide comes up to your rod holder do you have to move back or just leave it there? Shrimp has always worked best for me.
You can use crab but the have to be 6 inches from spine to spine

nice video but i have a question so my girlfriend likes going to the beach and i've never had any success surf fishing what's the best bait to use or what kind of setup is needed to catch a fairly sized shark?
It's somewhat rare to catch any sharks over 4ft around here if you're casting. Best to kayak out baits if you're looking for 6'+

Do you use shock leaders on any/all of your poles for surf casting? What do you recommend?
Yeah I use a shock leader if I'm throwing 4+ oz lead. I usually go with 40lb mono.
Right on. What knot do you like to use for tying the leader material on? Ever used the Yucatan knot? It's strong and runs through the eyes/guides smoothly. Thoughts?
