not really, both have a totally different style and stories. Yorgos is a master in his own right, there's no need to compare him to Kubrick. Kubrick is way grander when it comes to his films.
Edward M I think Lanthimos is a genius. And I don’t think he’s a new up and coming director. The Lobster got a lot of awards even an Oscar nomination for best Screenplay, Dogtooth got another nomination, and he has more films like Alps, The Killing of a sacred deer. Maybe in the future his work will be more recognized, but that’s usual with geniuses
One of the brightest analyses I’ve seen. Dystopian worlds so close to our own & deconstructing of our dysfunctional society but indirectly & with ambiguities that involve the viewer intimately to the point of discomfort. Polarizing if you look at public reaction in an age of escapism and the popularity of childish formulaic sequels. Ok so I’m a film snob. Comparisons to the work of Bong Joon Ho interest me and even take me back to early Warhol
I completely agree for being excellent in distorting reality and creating a parallel universe experience in his movies. They should give him a good script maybe a series like the handmaid's tale.
The ''Killing of a Sacred Deer'' is a HORROR MASTERPIECE. Συγχαρητηρια Γιώργο!
such a great film.
Soooo massively disturbing. Omg!!
@@mahinafilms7162 hey comm'on plz open your eyes..
I love how he presents these absurd and, to a certain degree, eerie stories in such a matter of fact way.
I think Lanthimos is going to be the Kubrick of this generation
I can see where you're coming from, and now I want to see Lanthimos' take on sci-fi and space exploration and the philosophy surrounding it.

Flaneur I’m talking about impact and genius. Not comparing exactly film to film. Their style is quite similar and unique at the same time

The Shawshank Inception it's a great film
Ugh, this was such a great fucking video. I think Lanthimos is a master at world bulding. He's a huge inspiration
A Gentleman he really is and I can’t wait to see what happens with his next film the Favourite. One of the directors that I’m loving right now.
Excellent analysis! Yorgos is in a league of his own, and his films are their own mesmerizing universes✨
lanthimos is a genre himself, ive watched all his movies..
Are you traumatized? I finished dogtooth.....

Thank you! That’s exactly why I love dystopias. They almost feel like a heightened version of certain aspects of our society
Very nice essay :) Thank you!

You might want to see Anurag Kashyap's movies
He really pushes Indian cinema's limits
And an Indian- "Tumbbad"
It's underrated

Wow✨
TKOASD is the 21st century version of A Clockwork Orange. Yorgos is a genius
I love him
I’m not so sure Lanthimos will be the next Kubrick, as much as I see his sensibilities being Coen bros esque.
I want to BE in American Vogue!!!!!
