  • In this video I'll be reviewing the Wuhan 22" Linear Smash Crash that I purchased from sweetwater.com a few weeks ago.
    I will hit a few talking points as well as 2 demonstrations, one in the context of some heavy riffs I wrote and the other with no music so you can hear the cymbal entirely alone. There is no post production on the demo videos to give you a clear idea how the cymbal sounds.
    Thanks for checking out the video!

    "Overall, I think this cymbal sounds fuckin' awesome." Couldn't agree more haha.
    I actually just bought the 18" and 19" today. I was looking for more videos on the larger sizes so I'm really glad you posted this. Thanks bro! I'm definitely going to grab the 22" eventually. It's so crazy how it's buttery, raw, dry and smooth sounding all at the same time. Wuhan really did it right with these, imo.

    I’ve got the 21” and it has been amazing for all styles. I play 22” & 24” & 16” (hh) K lights and this cymbal fits in like a glove. Wuhans best kept secret, hands down.

    I’m not a metal guy myself but that was some damn fine playing. Wuhan always had some great affordable chinas but since Cardinal Percussion took the reigns they have done a fantastic job expanding their offering.

    I'm always changing my cymbal set-up, depending on the venue and band. I have a 17" and an 18" Wuhan linear smash. They fit very well with all of my setups.....and the price is nice! A couple of years ago, you couldn't find any linear smash wuhans for sale...not on ebay or in stores. Then a few months later, they were back. Very strange.

    I have a medium-heavy Wuhan 22-inch ride and an 18-inch Wuhan crash/ride. I have more cymbals in my collection, but I'm trying to condense everything to a ride, crash, and hats set. Ideally, I want both crash and ride to act as both crash and ride so they can be working double duty. Do you think the Wuhan linear smash would be a good replacement for my 18-inch crash/ride or is this cymbal not ideal for this application? Thanks! Oh, I'm currently playing in a Punk / Rock / Alternative / Shoegaze context, though I come from a metal background.

    • @pollarox674
      @pollarox674  2 года назад

      I definitely think a bigger crash like this one would work for shoegaze/alternative stuff. I'd also stick with a bigger ride that's probably on the drier side so it's not too washy when crashing on it. But this cymbal would fit in really well as your alternate crash and left side crash for sure(assuming you're a right handed drummer)!

    • @saneneweyes6189
      @saneneweyes6189 2 года назад

      Awesome! I'll have to check it out! I am right-handed. Though I've been contemplating doing a left-handed setup with an open stance, as a sort of hybrid of what Louis Cole is doing (left-handed open stance playing right-handed set) mixed with Harry Miree (right-handed open stance playing a left-handed set hybrid with remote pedals to control the hi-hat with the left foot, as a right-handed drummer would). I thought my brain would be able to make the switch easy - I write left-handed, so I have my right hand for "coarse" movement (Throwing, Punching, etc) and my left hand for "fine" movement (tasks requiring dexterity, like writing, using chopsticks, etc). Surprisingly, the Wuhan 22-inch ride has a very good crash to it (not too washy); I just wish it had a better bell. Anyway, I will definitely have to get my hands on this cymbal! Thanks for posting the video man!

      @pollarox674  2 года назад

      @@saneneweyes6189 the bell is what always gets me! I'm gonna do a video on my 22" stadium ride as well. I am also left handed when it comes to most things besides playing instruments, which is odd to me. I also mess around on guitar but play it right handed and drums right handed but everything else you mentioned like throwing and punching and things like that I am far better left handed. Very interesting take on the set ups you thought about trying as well. Im glad you enjoyed the video and I hope the ride search turns out well for you!

      I find that the 19" Linear Smash actually works reasonably well as a crash ride! Especially with a sizzler chain and lighter playing. I've tried a 22" as well and it actually didn't work as well like this. I've tried two 19"s that both did pretty well (with some variation between the two).

    • @pollarox674
      @pollarox674  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you man! The unfortunate thing with this cymbal and many wuhan cymbals is they definitely don’t hold up, I think as an aux crash it’d last much longer but I was using it as my main crash and it lasted maybe 3 months🥲 but dude, on the cheap if you need a crash on the fly it’s 10000% worth it! Or just as a fun crash off to the side for an added sound
