The great thing about A&H analog consoles is each channel strip is independent of the others. All you need to do is order a new channel strip and install it. You can also swap with a strip from the far right. Having a disconnected channel in the middle of the console would bug me to no end.
Thank you! We opened the lid and greased the power supply fan in detail, it was making a lot of noise, will be aware of your note. Can you illuminate in detail the back panel how ST1-ST4 with reverb work and the leftmost outputs 2TRK IN, 2TRK OUT their function. The 15,16 mic channels above them are mik out, is it direct ?
Good to see you greased the power supply fan. The ST1-ST4 inputs are for stereo returns. As well, they can also be used for returns (mono or stereo) from outboard gear like reverb/delay units. The return of the reverb signals would be mixed back into the overall mix and is treated like an instrument input. I recommend downloading the GL2400 manual from Allen & Heath to learn how the ST1-ST4, 2TRK IN/OUT are used. You can learn more from the manuals on those controls than what I can place here in this response. Thanks for your question.
@@stageleftaudio Thank you for your efforts and attention! We translated the manual, but the translation is not the best, so we are moving step by step!
Update coming in: So I changed the spare channel I've got from A&H - I also got 2 ICs spare as it seems to be a common issue. Anyway I figured with the new channel that when I power up the console the first green LED lights up for 2 seconds ant then it will be gone. So maybe this is a warning signal that this IC will be damaged in a few years. I hope that helped a few people out there. Best, David
I got a nearly new GL2800 32 channel console with 2 power supplies a year ago for $400. I love it. Use it for recording. Have you checked the soldering joints for the bad meter on that channel? It may be just a dry solder.
Sounds like it could be the buttons are simply wearing out. Or if the buttons have contacts in them, they could be becoming dirty. It's possible you may need to replace the buttons. I'm not sure if those buttons can actually be cleaned.
I have the same issue just on 26 - I assume that it is the IC on the Channel PCB. So I could replace it with a new one (as they are 14 DIP ICs) but I have to contact A&H support to get to know what the input voltage is. After that I will replace it and will keep you posted.I have the same issue just on 26 - I assume that it is the IC on the Channel PCB. @@stageleftaudioHi, I contacted the local A&H support and they will send me a complete new Channel Strip. So I can do an easy change, wich is way more comfortable. It's around 30 bucks. They will also send me 2 ICs on top as it seems to be an often issue with these LEDs - so I can change at least for one more channel in the future. The old Channel will be stored as I now have all poties etc spare. So I guess this is a good solution to it. Also the tech agreed it has to be one of the two ICs. I will leave the input voltage offset info here when I know it so you can actually just change ICs.
Allen and Heath gl2400 wan one of the best consoles they ever made we had just replaced the console at our old church. and it was in there about 20/2 years. And we just put a new gl2400 in the church and now they discontinued A few months ago
A dead channel? No, it is your gain potentiometer, clean it or replace that module. So, you cleaned some grime off of the "framing" looks good, clean the guts and it will sound good, if it's just a dust collector for you I'll give you $400 for it right now if you pay shipping.

Or just remove the strip and get it repaired.
Gotta love your A&H's!
Try to check the op amp ics and transistors if there some in the input section of the channel strip...

Thanks for the reply. There were no bad solder joints. We do love this console and will still keep it in the inventory for events.
You're never going to see very many cold solder joints on an Allen & Heath!
Recently, my GL2800 has some mute buttons that aren't coming off mute. any remedies?

may channel 12 rest in peace :)

A lot of dealers still have new ones in stock.
So now the channel is not working?
You are correct. It is not working.

Thank you for the offer. We'll be keeping it as a backup to our Soundcraft GB8. However, it may still find use in smaller events where we need analog.
