  • 12/08/2016. The day didn't go as planned! The plan was to spend a couple of hours at Retford station, mainly to film a track maintenance machine that was due to leave the up sidings, run through the up platform, cross back onto the down platform, and then head north. It didn't move! And, after a couple of other trains, nothing else moved!
The first clip shows the 1E05 Edinburgh to Kings Cross HST passing Retford on time. Just south of Newark, the train was involved in a fatality causing everything to be stopped. The 1Y82 York to Kings Cross arrived in Retford 6 minutes down and was then held in the platform for another 200 minutes.
In the end, I stayed filming for 5 hours to record the story when, first of all the northbound services started to move, and then, once the 1E05 was able to be moved, things started to head south again. Near the end of the video, the HST involved in the incident is seen heading back to Craigentinny as the 5F05 14:35 Grantham to Craigentinny T.&R.S.M.D empty stock train.
I hope I have managed to correctly identify each service.
