Hello, and thank you for your message. There are several things you can do to keep your roses until the weather improves. Firstly you can keep them in their unopened packaging for around one to 2 weeks without causing them any harm once open. You can then place the bear root roses Into water to rehydrate for around 2 to 4 days once you start this process if weather conditions are still unbelievably cold and you are unable to plant in your final locations. The best thing to do would be to buy a large bag of multipurpose compost and bring it into the house to thaw once it is workable, you can then place all of your bar roses into a large plastic pot. Something around 60 to 80 cm in diameter and fill it with your defrosted bag of compost. You can then place this outsidein the elements until weather conditions allow you to plant them into their final positions and pots. I hope this answers your question
@@the_gardenerben I've watched a few videos from professional rose growers saying that the union should be below ground (da) and some say it should be above when in the ground. Very confusing haha, but am I right in thinking level or just above in a pot. Absolutely love your videos by the way, really informative
It very much depends on the region of the world that you’re in and how cold your winters are here in the UK where temperatures don’t often dip below -5 unions can be left above ground this makes spotting growth from below the union e.g. suckers much easier to spot and less likely to happen in colder climates were experiencing temperatures below -5 for long periods of time snow and ice the union should be buried to protect it from the worst of the weather on the negative side of this it does mean the union has the ability to send out growth and you must look out for suckering growth from the root stock does that clarify things for you
@@the_gardenerben thank you, that makes complete sense to my brain haha. I'm in the UK, Derbyshire, so will plant them above as advised. Oh I'm so grateful for your answer, thank you
Hola, gracias por lo que nos aportas en tus vídeos. Vivo en el sur de España donde raramente alcanzamos 4°C en invierno y por el contrario en verano solemos estar por encima de los 30°C. Debo enterrar el injerto? Muchas gracias por todo
Really helpful for a complete novice! Thank you
I’m glad you found it useful
Hola Ben, en lugar de estiércol se puede utilizar humus de lombriz? Gracias por tus vídeos tan enriquecedores!
@@anabareavega4734 yes if you have worm casts you can use them
why don't you plant it in deeper as others recommend?

Is there any difference when planting into a pot that's the right size?
