To say this is a great video would be an understatement, thank you for the tutorial. I am a novice and wanted to ask you, what are some camera and equipment's I can use for vlogging where I can see myself on camera? I see a lot of youtubers vlog without using a professional videographer, what are the best cameras with wide screens and can I use a notebook to do videos? thanks again
I come after a year for this video, still this is great video I have seen over a tripod so far.. honestly impressed. can you let me know which one is suitable for wedding photography?
Moose, your presentations are great. You have a very nice slow delivery that allows people to follow what you are saying. I've also purchased and used your "cheat sheets" and they really have helped a beginner. Thanks for what you do!
It would have been interesting to see you drop the ISO by 2 stops and open the aperture by 2 stops - may have been the best overall compromise when hand holding?
...i love all your videos, moose!...you are an awesome guy your my favorite...may i ask a request? ...can you make a content on how to use flash ttl mode vs manual mode and when to use these two...thanks a lot, God bless
Thank you for a easy understanding video for us as beginners! :) QUESTION 1: I have an Elgato Multi -flex Arm (it is just like a stick). Can i convert it in to a tripod? I have a Canon M50 and I am just learning about the tripods. For the Elgato I bought 85 dollars and I am not able to use it for my Canon. Any advice? QUESTION 2 : What tripod would you recommend in a beginner? I like the "ballhead" thing for the contraption, made a note of that. Thank you, and I just became an subscriber to your channel. Best regards and keep up the good work! :)
thanks for this very interesting video, but I have a question, which kind of tripode you recommend for a mirrorlees camera, and what do you think of using a tripod with video head to take pictures, I have seen options to put the camera an L bracket and use this type of tripods, with the two functions and better movement
I’m only 1:54 in..... thank you so much for sharing this👍🏻☺️.... I’ve had a tripod for ages and not used it, I’m very new to photography. I’m learning very slowly and thanks to people like you, it makes my new hobby worth it.... thanks again bro😉☺️👍🏻
Thanks for the video! I wish I saw it 3 days ago before making the online order for my first tripod...I do wanna make videos and click pics outdoors (for my youtube as well) but the one I have ordered is a 1.8 KG weight and aluminum frame...after watching this video I am wondering if it will stand the wind. Anyways, thanks a lot!
Hey Moose, I enjoy the videos. I need help. I just bought my first tripod. Got a good deal ($300) on a Mefoto carbon road trip. I use a Sony a6000 and I've only used golrrilla pods before this tripod. I feel a bit in over my head now. Should I stick with it, or do some more research. I like the fact that it has a monopod. I do portraits, family, action, and street photography. Just looking to be more creative. Thanks.
Watched all of your video... you’ve put my mind at rest☺️☺️☺️ thank you bro and you really do know your stuff, I’m more landscapes/night time stars etc. I’ve got taking pictures of day time moving objects, sussed that out but trying to get stars at night is impossible, just noise
Hey Moose, stumbled on your recommendation. two questions: I can't seem to find the Vanguard Auctus 323 any more. Any other recommendation? and the second question is how come your center column is so short?
+Michael kushnir - In my experience a camera slider is much smoother than a tripod dolly. However, a dolly can go a longer distance than a slider, so it really depends on what you plan on shooting/recording. :)
Ok, thanks a lot! I thought of buying a slider and dollies so I can mount both of them on my tripod so it will be easier to use instead of buying and using them apart. What do you think?
Hi. I'm thinking about buying the manfrotto compact action tripod but i have the canon 70d with a 18-135mm lens. I'm not shure of the tripod can hold these 2 lovely things. Greats!
Hey Merijn, yes, it will hold that combo. However, if there is a steady wind, the tripod will struggle to keep things steady. Not that the tripod will fall over, but there will be vibration in the legs/head which may cause blurriness. Only way to overcome that is to use a larger, heavier tripod.
What tripod would you recommend for outside shooting with a Nikon D5300 with a 18-55 and 55-300mm lens for wildlife and birds and possible macro shots.
I'd recommend the Benro GoTravel or Manfrotto Go! tripods. They have a center column that can swing out and achieve awesome angles for macro. They are also quite sturdy and would be more than enough to handle your D5300 with 55-300mm attached.
consider me subbed. you spoke very clearly and I understood everything, thank you for the super awesome review! I'm saving up for a canon t5i, do you have any tips on using it? getting the kit lens as well (18-55mm)
Awesome, thanks so much! Yeah, I actually have a set of cheat sheets for the T5i which show you the exact settings I would use for different subjects and scenes. Check them out here: www.cameratips.com/canon/t5i/cheat-cards
Hi Moose! You have given me a motivation to start my own channel:). I'am beginning to take picture or film the Computer components ( building watercooling pc's). I need really your advice in this case which i need for a beginner a portable daylight, tripod, camera and mic. What would you recommend me ? By the way, i just subscribed to your channel as soon as i watched this video. Too smooth explanation with step by step info. Thumbs up! :)
Hi Moose, I really like your explanation on tripods, so I dare to ask you an advice for a travel tripod that you may recommend fo me. I love to take pictures of landscapes, sunsets, etc, most of the times in windy places. I have seen some reviews and i am pretty confused. Any advice? Thanks in advance
It's tough, especially since travel tripods tend to be lighter and more compact, while true landscape tripods tend to be more solid and robust. I would look at the Benro GoTravel tripods. They are well made, affordable and they fold up nicely.
What tripod would you recommend for Real Estate photography? Stability is most important future for me, weight, comfort, speed does not matter. Price - less expensive the better. Thank you for all suggestions!
I know y'all aren't an advice forum, but I gotta ask... what's a good stabilizing solution for taking photos from ground level? Most tripods can get low to the ground, but I'm looking for a solution where the base is naturally compact and not too tall (so I'm not constantly lowering something). This is for night photos, so I need it secure (FYI, I've seen the bean bag options).
is this is possible that we can take a indoor portrait fashion photography with tripod? i m confused because i seen in your whole video camera is put on tripod in landscape style. so can you please help me and solve my confusions
Very helpful,Thanks. Im going on a landscape photography trip ( Mountains and hills ) I'm using a Nikon D5100, what lens would you recommend ? Thanks ...
You bet! Oh wow, sounds like a fun trip. I highly recommend the Sigma 10-20mm. I would get it used, if you can find one in good condition. The 10-20mm focal length is super wide, which is great for sweeping vistas and big skies. :)
Was just watching this and a lot of the links are out of date. I am really looking for a lightweight tripod to carry while hiking that won't break the bank. Any suggestions?
great post and good advice coming from a newbie like me. Trying my hand at astrophotography and a good tripod is paramount! so to those who think that this is a hobby they would stick with...this is the voice of reason...
I just purchased the Manfrotto MT 190XPROB4 Aluminium and Sirui K-40X ball head. how do you think about this configuration? I have a D810 and 80-200mm lens.
That's a great combo! I own that exact tripod and love it. It's built well and is quite sturdy for its size. The Sirui K-40X is a beast of a ball head. Plenty strong enough to hold your D810 and 80-200mm.
HI Moose, Im into bird photography and Im using 750D Canon and mount 150-600MM lens. Could you suggest me which Tripod should i buy for the above combination, in really confused.
Prashant Pillai get the Sirui carbon fibre N 2204 nks you can easily load upto 15 kg on it. One leg can be removed and used as monopod. Its weight is around 1.6 kg hence can fit in a medium size travel bag easily without adding excess weight. . Folded length is 18 inches. I just got it recently
Hey Moose! I am looking for a tripod to gift it to my friend. He loves outdoor photography of landscapes, architecture etc but at the same time he also loves taking outdoor pictures of people, crowd, family, trips etc. So which tripod will you recommend me? My budget is kinda around 70$ but I don't want to end up gifting cheap and useless tripod. Also do you have any tripod in mind that can also be used as a monopod?
Hi Janki, what a good friend you are. The $70 price point is tough. If it were me, I would search ebay or your local used market to see if I could buy a used Benro, Sirui or Manfrotto for that price.
Hey Moose thanks for getting back to me. Well I didn't want to gift him used one. So I ordered the one you mentioned in the description box i.e. Dolica ZX Carbon Fiber Tripod. Hope he likes it. Else I ordered from Amazon so he can change it if needed. :-)
Thanks! you cleared all my doubts, I want to buy an economy model Tripod from Manfrotto with a ball head "Contraption'' suitable for my Nikon D3200 for doing my indoor food & product photography along with my Nikon SB-700 Flash, please suggest.
Hey Moose, I have a Ravelli APLT4 (61 inch) tripod. I got it for about $26. Would you recommend it for general use because it seems sturdy to me and doesn't seem like it'll shake or break during use? I took a photo that required 25 seconds of exposure, and the subject was tack sharp. I just wanted to ask if you think it's cool.
Hey Osase! Any tripod, including the cheap one's, is better than no tripod at all. The benefit to a more expensive tripod is the ability to stand up to heavy winds, reduce vibrations and to lock down heavy cameras in precarious angles. If it works for you, I say awesome! Happy clicking!
+Osase Noma-Owens ...Wooa! A cheap Tripod can cost you your camera, lens and maybe more, if someone gets hurt. Get a Good Solid, Brand Name Tripod. Check the capacities, make sure it can hold your gear, and a weight hung from the Center Column to stabilize it. (Most people use a sandbag, or just hang your camera bag from it). Check that it has a hook below the column, that will make it easier. Also, think of the future, buy a Tripod once, one that will last many years. You'll save money in the long run. (Check the Digitalrev video on cheap tripods).
+Angela Monetti I've watched the "Cheap Tripods" video by DigitalRev before. I also watched another video where a guy with a cheap tripod said he's been using that tripod for 5 years and never has he had a problem with it. To me, as long as the tripod can hold the weight of my camera, and is sturdy, I don't really mind
Hi Moose, I have a very entry level tripod its called (benro t600ex) now this has a Plastic Head to which I attach the camera. I need your head and expertise in this to figure out if i can fix a Ball head mount on this tripod by replacing the existing plastic head by any chance...? Thanks in advance :) Best Regards, Tejas
loved your video. so well explained and told quietly, softly and not a hundred miles a minute. Much appreciated. With this in mind, what do you suggest for a 5'1" female who doesn't like carrying a lot of heavy equipment?
This video is really old but i will ask anyway. You told tripod is good for outdoor no-moving object like structures, but what about outdoor portraits? Its propably not so important, but my hands are pretty shaking and its fine have tripod by your back, u never know what u can find.
Hey Erick, if the cars are moving and you're shooting from a distance, then you'll want a monopod. If you're photographing cars at a car show, you might think about getting a gorilla pod. With it, you can prop it on or next to the car for interesting angles.
My experience with vivitar products is that they're kind of cheap and "plasticky." If the price is right and it's all you can afford, definitely go that route. Having a tripod is better than not having one.
So I am a new you tuber and I need a camera that will film and a tripod and all the fantastic stuff so I film not take pictures so can you make a video on how to edit and tripods that’s good I do love the micro tripod so I will get tripods so thank you!
Many instructors talk about 1/3rd rule while instructing but you are the one who is following it too. :)

Moose, just want to say that I really enjoy your series of videos. Presented in a very easy to understand way for us beginners! Thank you!
New to tripods here. And DSLR`s in general.
Do Nikon cameras accept the ARCA quick release available on some mounts?
Really Right Stuff... the brand, not the statement! I have over $2000 invested into my tripod for my Leica M
Moose, your presentations are great. You have a very nice slow delivery that allows people to follow what you are saying. I've also purchased and used your "cheat sheets" and they really have helped a beginner. Thanks for what you do!

Just an aside...I LOVE your shirt.
Camera body with IBIS images are taken can still stay sharp at a shutter speed at 1/5 sec.
What material do you recommend: aluminum or carbon fiber? Thanks.
carbon fiber is better but more expensive, and it's not like aluminium tripod is bad
hi great video and info with a ball head can u shoot vertically upwards ie up to 90 degrees for astro pic s cheers Colin

Great video, thanks for sharing.
Do you have to buy a camera or there is a built in camera in a tripod
Edit. Please reply
MZB Tech camera and tripod must be bought separately.
How do I use my phone on a carbon fiber tripod? Please give a video link.

(Check the Digitalrev video on cheap tripods).
+Angela Monetti The tripod I have is pretty sturdy and can hold my camera weight
Hi Moose,
I have a very entry level tripod its called (benro t600ex) now this has a Plastic Head to which I attach the camera.
I need your head and expertise in this to figure out if i can fix a Ball head mount on this tripod by replacing the existing plastic head by any chance...?
Thanks in advance :)
Best Regards,
Tejas
Hi Tejas, I'm not exactly sure. If the plastic head can be twisted off the tripod legs, then yes, you can add another tripod head of your choice.
loved this video!
Ultimate Tutorial.. 100/100 :-)
What do I do if my tripod is leaning crooked? How do I fix that??

which tripod is right for me . for shooting cars ?
i have a canon t5i
Hey Erick, if the cars are moving and you're shooting from a distance, then you'll want a monopod. If you're photographing cars at a car show, you might think about getting a gorilla pod. With it, you can prop it on or next to the car for interesting angles.
What camera can i use for a gopro
Hey Mike, for a gopro, really any portable tripod will work. I'd look at the Joby Gorillapod. They are great for GoPro's.
would the vivitar 72 inch be okay?
My experience with vivitar products is that they're kind of cheap and "plasticky." If the price is right and it's all you can afford, definitely go that route. Having a tripod is better than not having one.
So I am a new you tuber and I need a camera that will film and a tripod and all the fantastic stuff so I film not take pictures so can you make a video on how to edit and tripods that’s good I do love the micro tripod so I will get tripods so thank you!
Nice man, do more videos I am here to watch urs:)
Thanks so much Vignesh! 😁
