Kinda sorta lol. While I did play a bunch of this game back in the day mostly single player with some online, still no where as much as FFT/FFT WOTL. To truly explain the tier list in depth, would take hours and even more research. And no one would ever want to read or watch a video like that ever. Better to experience and play at that point
It was really good. One of my favorite Final Fantasy games, it was so fun but years later my love for FFT just grew to number 1. I still love this game though and always wanted to do an upload or two
This game was so good! Square Enix's most underrated game by far. Why does Dissidia Forums keep shutting down? The website had good replays, mods to download and tools. Dude you are so spot on with people not replying to comments...You get hundreds of comments and have way more subscribers than a lot of smaller gaming channels.
Yeah it really was good. I love the gameplay, fan service, music and how they managed to make every single character so unique in play style. Idk why it does. Probably someone forgot to pay the monthly fee for the website. There were some amazing mods id love to make a showcase video for one day lol it's so fun. As for replying, people gotta be more responsible lol. I just imagine myself as a defense attorney with clients. I gotta respond and keep them in the loop. Although I did miss several replies. It's getting harder and harder with more people!
Dissidia has got to be one of the most misused opportunities for Square Enix. Had the potential to be an e-sport with enough polish. Had the animations to translate into a great 2d fighting game. Had enough characters to be like a smash game on it's own. Had great music from all games. Had more characters that could appear as dlc ( Marche, Lusso, the guys from type-0, etc) Had innovative gameplay that was incredible back in the day. Had the behemoth of a company that is Square Enix to pile on resources on this one game. And yet, it somehow devolved into Dissidia NT where most of the time no one knows whats happening on screen. But really, if the cheese in this game could be removed and some tournament viable ruleset could be created, it would be a great fighting game. Not perfect but... unique. P.D: Despite Tifa being hard to play i really enjoyed her dodge mechanic. Thanks for putting effort into the video.
Yeah totally. I think it had a very rough start though but its not really their fault. The first game was pirated for free in the millions unfortunately which caused a lot of loss revenue. I had a lot of fun with the first game, (spent real money) but yeah that in turn caused a decline in sales of the other games too. Dissidia 012 was great. Dissidia NT also had a bad release date I feel. (Same month as Dragonball Figher Z) And I blieve just having Koei Tecmo develop it wasn't the best decision. Square themselves are much better developers. Totally I think if the cheese wasn't allowed or if they players had some kind of a yellow card (Like in the MMA organization Pride FC, we could prevent mass turtling and slower matches.) +And much respect for the Tifa love. At the end of the day that is what matters to me. Of course and thanks for watching and commenting 👍

I hadn't considered piracy but i believe that, if they put the PSP versions on steam with some rollback netcode, fixed the most glaring balancing problems and ran some surveys, suficient players would justify the investment. Heck, Dissidia on PSP can now run on mobile devices, just porting the game as is, without adding anything, could be financially sound. Well, enough with my rant. Once again, thank you for the video, it made me further understand why some characters were so easy to play with and frustrating to play against.
@@judgeoftruth6058 I feel like they tried to bring that formula that worked in some of the Gundam games like Gundam versus, Gundam extreme vs maxi boost, or even the Gundam vs and vs+ PSP games from Japan (which I love on the PSP to this day). But it's the same formula ish with fighting multiple people at a time and switching targets, usually the online matches are 2v2s in those games. We just need the old dissidia or 012 formula made by square to really make the game shine out on consoles/pc. Only thing I miss was the ex force which was non existent in dissidia nt and was traded for summons. The summons were cool however
My memories of duodecim was 90% solo gaming, as around this time me and my circle of friends moved on (career, business, family), I pushed through the game though, especially using Tifa in that cowboy costume I mean cmon. I also remember Golbez having a "Broly" costume and I laughed while slapping people with nightglows and spinning rocks. My one and only gripe is how they gutted ex mode. In og dissidia, ALL of my equipment/skill builds were focused on getting to ex mode rq and having it last forever, I will always remember how I laughed at my friends having to deal with triple homing firagas with kefka's ex, or Gabranth getting to ex in half a second with a single tap of R + ⬛ (or whatever the command for his ex charge is). Mind that I didn't farm as much in this game compared to dissidia, so maybe some ultra endgame equips have them. Still, had my fun with the game, although I swear I thought Ramza would be in, ah well he was in NT but never played that game.
I played a lot of it solo as did most people, just an awesome and fun game. That is more important so I don't blame you. Very good fashion choice, honestly in my opinion this is her best cowgirl design or Nibelehim look in my opinion, even looks better than the remake. The White lining on her outfit and boots looks better than the straight up brown I feel. That costume I remember lol. I'm not a fan of his feet showing though lmao. But it was cool how they had that costume as a tribute to FF4 After Years. I totally agree with you there. Old Dissidia EX Mode was just so fun and also old Omni Air dash, dodge cancel combos. My only issue with a more EX focused in 012 was that a lot of them penalized you building assist and etc. So that old Dissidia 1 feel was just so fun with an EX build. Ramza would have been great in 012 and while it was cool to see him in NT, that game just was a huge downgrade and didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game at all, it was developed by Koei Tecmo with a focus on Esports, it was like a fighting game 3vs3 MOBA with bad lag. Virtually everyone I know and based on RUclips comments, realize how much better the first two games were. Again, its an opinion at the end of the day and people can like what they like but I'm in the same ship as them.
Kind of a shame that spin off characters didnt show up in there like Mystic Quest or Tactics. Though man i was surprised to find out that Seymour, Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut were scrapped from here. Makes me wonder how good they could've been
I totally agree with you. I think Ramza would have been great and even better in 012 as opposed to Dissidia NT. I want to say he didn't make it in this game because he already had War of the Lions which was also on PSP. I also heard Balthier was supposed to be in this game too but they scrapped him because of his cameo in War of the Lions.
@J7Jase I never heard of that. That is surprising. Kind of reminds me of how Vayne was never considered for 012. Tetsuya Nomura revealed if he was to use Vayne in 012 instead he would've went for others like Ashe or the original main protag Basch. Though in a roundabout way if Reks survived and wasn't killed, he could've been a better protag too.
@@daehan8227Reks was a unique case tho, he's basically the blueprint/sketch/beta version of Vaan, but they figured that they need a better looking "anime ikemen poster boy" with a more tragic backstory for the marketing. Ashe & Basch would make a better protagonist out of the bros but Reks would make more sense than Vaan since he's a soldier with a potential. But still, at least in a way Basch made an appearance in 012 (also presumably Ashe just like Minwu & Penelo) and Vayne is in NT, a bad place to made a debut but still welcomed regardless

She definitely should have been a lot better. I mean she can still win some tough match ups but its an up hill battle and if players are on equal skill level and knowledge they will feel it. Yeah Lightning is really good. I have a few matches from years ago. I'll try and see which ones are best and upload something since it seems like a few people want to see me play.
I am surprised by the amount of Dissidia 012 players here on the channel lol. I love it. As for Terra I do like her so much better in the first game lol. In 012 she got nerfed hard
i wanted Tifa to be so good in this game but eh. Tidus ended up being my main due to his sheer speed and mix ups. he's predictable but once you train your opponent you can get into people's heads really easily. WoL is my back up. he's just solid all around, and i prefer to use him against less competitive players lol. I dabble with Ultimecia. Jecht is fun to use but i suck ass lol.
Yeah Tifa deserved to be a lot better for sure. Instead Prishe was designed to be the easy face roll. Tidus is a great choice. Hop Step mind games and Hop Step into Aerith Assist Change or even Hop Step + Yuna Assist is so annoyingly strong if done right. WOL is another very good choice too. Ultimecia is face roll vs like Cloud lol and yeah same with Jecht. I could never use him much but so beast in the right hands.

Yeah that would have been great. to be honest. Although they probably weren't included in because of War of the Lions. I just like making videos on games I enjoy playing lol although I know way more about FFT. A lot more FFT to come in the near future after some of these videos lol

The first Dissidia was an out of the blue and fun surprise, Duodecim was such a major improvement I can't play any other version. And after the introduction of Kain too, Still proving he's Baron's only elite Dragoon for a reason. Though I still have slightly more fun with Golbez.
Hearing about vs and matchups makes me want to watch some competitive Duodecim. Some kind of tournament where there's a kind of draft to pick which characters you can play as would be fun to watch.
There are some channels you can watch that show some good matches. If you want to watch something exciting, competitive but not to the point where the players are acting like there is a million dollars on the line I recommend. Dart's Channel or Watsonia Trigger.
I love this game, I was a beast with Tifa know this game. Yuna was also really good, I have used all of the characters and have an ida of their gameplay because I loved the Creation mode, and I created one BIG story (I used the 100 slots 😅), especially the use of mods made it better.
I'm glad there are quite a few people who watch me that also play these other games I cover lol. I am surprised but happy at the same time. Glad you really like the two new comers. I think Yuna is very good in offline and she is fun to use as well. Tifa is fun just a bit hard especially in online. That is awesome on the creation! That is what Final Fantasy is about. Too bad NT was a downgrade and Koei Tecmo developed it.

Thanks so much. The Dissidia games on PSP were just so fun and some of my favorite Final Fantasy games. That could be a good idea for the future if I go back to making more videos on the game like a real basic guide. @@J7Jase fingers crossed, in my opinion it’s formula made it at least in the top 5 arena fighters. Still need to try out NT though I’m looking to see if I can find the arcade version at a round one to try it out. The line up for the new characters look solid, Snow is definitely some one I’d love to try I’m a sucker for berserker/Muramasa characters. And fingers crossed on an Offline Opera, I wanted to try it out when it came out by my phone had a very limited amount of storage and by the time I finally got something with a bigger capacity they announced they were discontinuing services. Though on another note, I’d love to see a vid talking bout who’d you’d want to see in a new Dissidia and how they’d play. I’m always a fan of seeing what the community thinks and speculates.

Just like in Dissidia, I used: Squall, Gabranth, Exdeath, and Dark Knight only Cecil. However, I would mainly play as Kain. Using Rising Drive to bring the opponent to the ceiling, then waiting half a second for them to recover before using Sky Rave to slam them back into the ground is devastating. I also played as Gilgamesh and my friend couldn't ever beat me. After we found out that Gilgamesh cheats because of the different swords he uses, I stopped playing as him to have more fair fights. Another great video!
Squall became even more beast here as the assists help him out so much with landing HP attacks lol. I also love that Kingdom Hearts DLC look as well. Kain is super fun to play too, his HP attacks are just so great and I love his regular base Jump. Gilgamesh is low key sleeper lol. And his EX Burst just does insane damage too. This and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker are the HEAVIEST PSP games. What I referred to as heavy I mean they are both are filled with contents. Especially Dissida, it was the Super Smash Bros for PSP.

I was a Jecht main, and A is pretty accurate. He deals a ton of damage with his combos and his Jecht Block is strong and can deflect literally almost anything, but he's very execution heavy and not as welcoming to players as, say, Cloud. Awesome video! Consider me subbed!

So, I'm gonna share an idea that I've had brewing for the longest time for Bartz. His Mime playstyle CAN work, but the way his moveset is constructed is so limited. So, I always proposed that his move structure be made like Prishe, with some Bravery A and B attacks that you can mix and match, just like Prishe. So you still get that feeling of mimicry, while keeping Bartz's identity as a free spirited improviser. PS: Ride or die Laguna main. A tier list is irrelevant when you have The Greatest Attack EVER!
I'm not sure if there are any mods that you change or bravery attacks work in Dissidia 012 but if there is a way you could always try and experiment with it. Props for using Laguna. It is a game after all and most people will just play in single player, main thing is have fun.
I love Dissidia and have fond memories of this game. Felt amazing to play and has such unique gameplay and mechanics. Thinking about buying a psp and playing this game again lol
Thanks for the comment. It was a really good game which in my opinion deserved some more fame. I recommend honestly emulating it and playing it that way. More quality of life features and honestly the psp battery just doesn't hold up I feel.
The last tier made by the dissidia community for 012 was done around 2018. I can try to find it for you if you really want to. Most players stopped playing once NT was released.
I like this list. I kinda feel like Jecht is at least A+. Just the fact that his fully charged bravery attacks crushes guards, jecht block deals with mostly everything in the game, and doesn’t have that bad of a Matchup spread.
How would you rank the assists of each character? I would say some of the best are usually the bravery or HP attacks that wall rush to extend combo game

One question, you talked about tournaments off this game, is there a community for this? I loved this game but at the time I wasn't able to play online since I know no one with it and the online functionality of PS3 wasn't available in my country.

I recently pick up this game again and I'm really surprised that someone actually did some 012 contents on yt in 2024. I would really love to see some guide in labyrinth mode as I most of the time don't know what I'm doing in there other than trying get any labyrinth gears.
My two favorite characters suck. I still play Bartz but its weird how in 1 it feels like every move he mimiced flowed well while in 012 it feels like the picked the worst move from every character on purpose
i played this game a lot back in the day and dont remember some of those characters being that good while others being that bad, maybe the video couldve been a little longer giving a bit more explanation, theres so many attacks,skills,equips and summons in this game and that can change the playstyle and flow of combat of some characters drastically, other than that the video was really interesting, i think i will start playing this game again when i get some more time to test it myself.
This tier list mostly reflects multiplayer. I could have factored in more things about single player. While I also played this game a lot, there are others who have spent thousands. While longer play time and more experience doesn't necessarily translate into better, they should have at least some knowledge. As for what you said about elaborating on every single thing you aren't wrong, however that video would easily be hours because we need to factor in so many builds, equipment setups and etc. But more importantly more people at this point will play it as a single player game. So have fun although some characters are just better than others.

Hard to say. Based on the history maybe, there were no plans after Dissidia 012 was made and then what do you know Square had Koei Tecmo develop Dissidia NT or the Arcade version lol. And also Dissidia Opera Omnia which shut down unfortunately. I believe Balthier and Fran were in Opera Omnia, solid game even though it wasn't a fighting game like the other games.
There's an interview with the guy who directed the rhythm games and he more or less said that the only thing that they need to make a new dissidia game happen is someone willing to step up and direct/produce it. A new game could still happen, we just need someone passionate enough to take the reigns

Cloud being at A tier doesn't make a lot of sense. He's incredibly slow and easy to read, plus the only reliable move he has is quick cut. Honestly, he's more around B or C tier, although I wish he wasn't.
Double Cut is insanely good for mind games and you can punish players. Because he is popular everyone kinda knows how to play vs him but he is a beast in the single player mode too. But I can totally understand your points.
I never played this game competitively but I always thought Cecil would be kind of high due to Paladin's Force, it's a HP attack that requires the first hit to connect for it to go through but the thing is if you hit the opponent with a ranged attack like Searchlight or if an assist hits the opponent then the attack while go through to it's conclusion and chase the opponent no matter how far away they are. You can pull this off with Cloud and Tidus too but it is MUCH harder to do, I'm sure you already know about it and I guess PVP is a lot more close range combat so it probably doesn't matter if you know about it or not. (There's probably other characters that can also do it that I'm not thinking about)
Searchlight just comes out too slow and it can be assist punished. I could have totally factored in the single play part a lot more for this video though as most of us will just play single player usually but that was a mistake on my part. I clearly leaned more towards the pvp side and should have looked at single player. But the video was going to be really long. For close range combat it depends on the character being used but yeah definitely would want to fight up close with a good portion of the roster. With Jecht Shot and of course Omnislash version 5 since I believe that is what you are referring to with Tidus and Cloud, can actually get punished with an assist change. (The player has to know when to dodge, the timing and of course dash up to you for an attack.) However, against the AI in single player feel free to constantly use these abilities.
@@J7Jase I don't know if you're aware of this channel or not but I stumbled upon these things from a now dead YT channel called EnemyToTheWorld, still some of my favourite Dissidia videos for the crazy stuff he manages to pull off, and in some cases even stuff the AI manages to pull off. To this day I still think Dissidia 012 is my favourite crossover game, even above Smash Bros, I just love the depth of the combat in this game, even if it has some funny quirks here and there.
Jecht, Sephiroth should be A+ Gabranth should be B+ or A Vaan should be B+ Laguna should be C Bartz the only D tier (Sorry I'm Jecht player but I can't help it but) Jecht can punish attacks and leads them to HP attacks. The timing is not hard, the problem only how stable your matches is. Range is not really a problem since he had Jecht Block which can Win againt Med priority attacks and draw against HP attack. Muggshooter is infamous maining Jecht at the tournament. Perhaps Jecht by theory is against Emperor, and Exdeath. Emperor and Exdeath have unblockable priority attacks to annoys most close range characters. But Jecht only have 1 bravery attacks for ground and air. Also Jecht by matchup weak against super long attacks. Like both above and Ultimecia. It's a matter of the player to use Jecht. Sephiroth players always use Shadow Flare (air) as arsenal, both poke and filling Assist. If Shadow Flare hit, it can lead to Heaven Light HP attacks, if not, assist meter is got him covered. Not mention Shadow Flare spawned behind his opponent, so the choice opponent has to dodge. Gabranth, obliviously EX depended. The matchups should be who have quickest bravery attacks to put Gabranth on pressure. Gabranth only struggles is maintaining both EX meter and Assist meter for backup escape. EX mode Gabranth had amazing bravery attacks for cl-med range. There's a video of Sys-XN vs Tabithia on the Match 1 about how brutal Gabranth in EX Mode is. Or watch KuroJet Gabranth matches Vaan have plenty of builds because how many his Bravery attacks has. Every bravery attacks has it's purpose. Like Axe and shield > block and auto punish opponent. Greatsword > dash foward to opponent good to closing gap between him and his opponent. Katana to vertical opponent. Staff > great mobility attacks also to creates EX clusters. Basically he's Jack of all trades by his way. You could see Laguna as setup character like Emperor, on the weaker side of course. There's old video of LXD92 in [Genesis WB R2] bracket showing his Laguna plays. He's not weak as Bartz that's it Bartz mimicing his allies in Dissidia PSP is a stupid decision, every attacks is Low Priority or way too slow to startup, bravery to HP attack is bad. HP attacks is slow startup. Bartz in NT tho. He's a monster.

You make very great points and they aren't really wrong however, this is my list and honestly my placements and rankings for those said characters aren't that far off from what you are saying. If people want to put Tifa in B that is completely fine as well or if they think her outfits and appearances suck. I even mention at the end it depends on a variety of factors such as equipment builds, match up knowledge the whole nine yards. Now if I said something outrageous like Prishe sucks and should be in C or D tier then sure feel free to rant. If I were to make a video about going on every little single detail the video will easily be hours long. Side by Side builds, rulset, like official skill and so on. Precision Block, Concentration + etc As for Jecht, again its a matter of opinion to me, on the timing or how difficult it is. There are a lot of players who would easily go and vote the other way of him being hard to use and to use him to his maximum potential. He can do all the things you stated yes, however even in the slightest of lag its a pain to do even things like dash feinting etc. Unless you really practiced in it in many matches. I respect that you main Jecht, I think FFX is just cool like that. Why I knocked down Exdeath to S instead of putting him in S+. Very few players use him successfully same as Jecht. Sure both are very strong but there is a reason why they aren't used nearly as much. As for Sephiroth I do recall mentioning the assist gauge part, I could be wrong, I get many comments through out my videos which I reply to practically everything more than other RUclipsrs my size and even smaller. If you consider him A+ that is great I can completely and agree with that. Although A isn't honestly too far off. Now if is like two letter grades that is quite significant. Perhaps, I was somewhat harsh on Gabranth I don't think he is bad but I still prefer him in the first game by far. B and B+ I don't think are that too far off in my opinion that applies to Vaan too. For Laguna your point is valid. Although C and D I honestly don't think they are that far from each other especially those two particular characters. Sure he might not be as weak but its honestly pretty darn close to me at least. Bartz was solid in Dissidia 1. As for Dissidia NT it is a bit more complicated to rank characters as its a team based game and just an overall downgrade in my opinion. Didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game at all, less customization, pretty much near absent single player, laggy online. Square Enix should have developed that game. While the focus was an esports and "balance." There is no such thing as real balance and I've played WoW PVP and Heroes of the Storm at very high levels. Even in Age of Empires 2, which is like the hottest RTS now, while they can strive for balance and its better in certain game among others, there will always be balance issues and that is just the way its going to be.

Although if someone says Exdeath is easier than Prishe that is a huge red flag to me personally lol. I've only recently started posting other videos about other games as I primarily do FFT but I've gotten some very red flag and odd comments about things. Yours is far from one so lol I like it
As for Dissidia NT lol. That is more than likely a pass from me unfortunately. I need to go back to playing the game, taking a look at gameplay, experimenting with each character and a lot more. That list would probably take a lot of time since the game is a 3vs3 too so there are a lot of factors.
as someone who has like 800 hours and 100%ed the game, and decently into PVP, I have some disagreements: -Exdeath is the best character in this game. even if you don't have omniblock down he has top assist buildup with teleport spam and his other block moves still give you guaranteed HP damage. or if you do have omniblock down you just can't lose ever. he is proof that 012 was not made to be a PVP game. -Jecht is easily top 3. his backhand block is not quite omniblock bu it's still busted, jecht beam is one of the best HP attacks in the game, and his BRV attacks have top tier damage AND can chain into HP attacks. -Kain is also top tier. his jump is a whole playstyle and his unique air dash is also very good. -Zidane is high tier. he has extremely good offense because everything is fast and chains into meo twister, and free energy is also very good. and unlike most EX modes his is actually very good. he gets a bunch of air jumps and if he jumps over an attack you will get hit by a BRV into HP attack. -onion knight is like zidane but slightly worse. everything chains into HP damage but his raw HP attacks suck. -cloud of darkness is also a step above the rest. 0-form particle beam has checkmate setups, she has a reliable counter HP attack and anti-air particle beam is pretty good. the rest of the cast is more or less interchangeable. they need assists to do anything against a human or beat the strongest AIs in reasonable times. except maybe golbez, nightglow and the spinning meteors are pretty good. and then there's the trash. -The Emperor is not a character in PVP. you'll never hit anyone with anything. and even against the AI he's only good to cheese matches in a couple stages. he's just terrible. -Gabranth is the worst character in this game. he has nothing going for him, no quick HP attacks, no BRV to HP attacks, no mobility, EX gain nerfs from accessories also affect his EX charge move. he has no salvation. essay done.
Exdeath has a much higher skill ceiling than the entire roster. While you can argue he is the best, only very few players have used him successfully. Why I knocked him down a few ranks. Your point is completely valid so feel free to disagree. And to answer your comment about "not made to be a pvp game." That same thing can be applied to many competitive games where money is on the line. I've played WoW pvp and Heroes of the Storm at a high level not Blizz con level but in the top 1%. There is no such thing as real balance and that is just the way it is going to be. Even in Age of Empires 2 which is the hottest RTS right now, there is still no balance. Although Dissidia was made to be more for fun, casual and Final Fantasy fans. Valid points for Jecht but again as for Jecht he is much harder to use and to use him in lag is a pain. He requires a lot of effort, but if you want to place him closer to the top than my list that is fine. Last I checked A+ is pretty darn high on this list. I never said Zidane was bad. As for Meo Twister it is good, but it can be punished with an assist change by an experienced player, as I showed in the video so at times you need to be careful. COD's Bravery attacks aren't that great for the most part or safe like others. As for needing assists, this game isn't Dissidia 1, the assist system is there for all characters to use. As for interchangeable I'm not quite sure on that, Prishe is infinitely better not to mention much easier to use and way more face roll than someone like Tifa and Bartz. As much as I like Tifa as a character. The Emperor can be good although I say not the best option vs Kuja and Kefka and a few others. Just has a different playstyle. I wouldn't say Gabranth isn't weak he is pretty good. Just not as easy and requires some patience compared to Dissidia 1. You have to use other accessories that don't focus too much on EX since that will greatly hinder your assist gauge duration, build etc. Essay read.
@@J7Jasecan we stop saying "there is no balance" now? that hasn't been true since patches became a thing. AOE2's best civ has 70% on it's best matchup and 53% on average. that's kinda different from exdeath being 8-2 vs everyone except the guy that's banned for being too broken.
@@AlexanderMartinez-kd7cz Exdeath isn't 8-2 on everyone in the roster and that doesn't apply to each player at all. He takes a lot more skill to play and has a high ceiling. Because there is no such thing as true balance in any game and that is the way it is going to be. Take it from someone who has been at the top 1% in WoW Arena and Heroes of the Storm. While some games are better balanced than others, true balance is just impossible.

I love how you actually plan the games quite extensively and intensively compared to most other Final Fantasy channels.

While I did play a bunch of this game back in the day mostly single player with some online, still no where as much as FFT/FFT WOTL.
To truly explain the tier list in depth, would take hours and even more research. And no one would ever want to read or watch a video like that ever. Better to experience and play at that point

It was really good. One of my favorite Final Fantasy games, it was so fun but years later my love for FFT just grew to number 1.

Yeah it really was good. I love the gameplay, fan service, music and how they managed to make every single character so unique in play style.
Idk why it does. Probably someone forgot to pay the monthly fee for the website. There were some amazing mods id love to make a showcase video for one day lol it's so fun.
As for replying, people gotta be more responsible lol. I just imagine myself as a defense attorney with clients. I gotta respond and keep them in the loop.

Dissidia has got to be one of the most misused opportunities for Square Enix.
Had the potential to be an e-sport with enough polish.
Had the animations to translate into a great 2d fighting game.
Had enough characters to be like a smash game on it's own.
Had great music from all games.
Had more characters that could appear as dlc ( Marche, Lusso, the guys from type-0, etc)
Had innovative gameplay that was incredible back in the day.
Had the behemoth of a company that is Square Enix to pile on resources on this one game.
And yet, it somehow devolved into Dissidia NT where most of the time no one knows whats happening on screen.
But really, if the cheese in this game could be removed and some tournament viable ruleset could be created, it would be a great fighting game. Not perfect but... unique.

Yeah totally. I think it had a very rough start though but its not really their fault.
The first game was pirated for free in the millions unfortunately which caused a lot of loss revenue. I had a lot of fun with the first game, (spent real money) but yeah that in turn caused a decline in sales of the other games too.
Dissidia 012 was great. Dissidia NT also had a bad release date I feel. (Same month as Dragonball Figher Z) And I blieve just having Koei Tecmo develop it wasn't the best decision. Square themselves are much better developers.
Totally I think if the cheese wasn't allowed or if they players had some kind of a yellow card (Like in the MMA organization Pride FC, we could prevent mass turtling and slower matches.)

I hadn't considered piracy but i believe that, if they put the PSP versions on steam with some rollback netcode, fixed the most glaring balancing problems and ran some surveys, suficient players would justify the investment. Heck, Dissidia on PSP can now run on mobile devices, just porting the game as is, without adding anything, could be financially sound.
Well, enough with my rant. Once again, thank you for the video, it made me further understand why some characters were so easy to play with and frustrating to play against.
Having co op 3vs3 in a fighting game is just a bad idea and it always is, if it was character switching then it could work.

@@judgeoftruth6058 I feel like they tried to bring that formula that worked in some of the Gundam games like Gundam versus, Gundam extreme vs maxi boost, or even the Gundam vs and vs+ PSP games from Japan (which I love on the PSP to this day). But it's the same formula ish with fighting multiple people at a time and switching targets, usually the online matches are 2v2s in those games. We just need the old dissidia or 012 formula made by square to really make the game shine out on consoles/pc. Only thing I miss was the ex force which was non existent in dissidia nt and was traded for summons. The summons were cool however
My memories of duodecim was 90% solo gaming, as around this time me and my circle of friends moved on (career, business, family), I pushed through the game though, especially using Tifa in that cowboy costume I mean cmon. I also remember Golbez having a "Broly" costume and I laughed while slapping people with nightglows and spinning rocks.
My one and only gripe is how they gutted ex mode. In og dissidia, ALL of my equipment/skill builds were focused on getting to ex mode rq and having it last forever, I will always remember how I laughed at my friends having to deal with triple homing firagas with kefka's ex, or Gabranth getting to ex in half a second with a single tap of R + ⬛ (or whatever the command for his ex charge is). Mind that I didn't farm as much in this game compared to dissidia, so maybe some ultra endgame equips have them.
Still, had my fun with the game, although I swear I thought Ramza would be in, ah well he was in NT but never played that game.
I played a lot of it solo as did most people, just an awesome and fun game. That is more important so I don't blame you. Very good fashion choice, honestly in my opinion this is her best cowgirl design or Nibelehim look in my opinion, even looks better than the remake. The White lining on her outfit and boots looks better than the straight up brown I feel. That costume I remember lol. I'm not a fan of his feet showing though lmao. But it was cool how they had that costume as a tribute to FF4 After Years.
I totally agree with you there. Old Dissidia EX Mode was just so fun and also old Omni Air dash, dodge cancel combos. My only issue with a more EX focused in 012 was that a lot of them penalized you building assist and etc. So that old Dissidia 1 feel was just so fun with an EX build.
Ramza would have been great in 012 and while it was cool to see him in NT, that game just was a huge downgrade and didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game at all, it was developed by Koei Tecmo with a focus on Esports, it was like a fighting game 3vs3 MOBA with bad lag. Virtually everyone I know and based on RUclips comments, realize how much better the first two games were. Again, its an opinion at the end of the day and people can like what they like but I'm in the same ship as them.
Kind of a shame that spin off characters didnt show up in there like Mystic Quest or Tactics. Though man i was surprised to find out that Seymour, Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut were scrapped from here. Makes me wonder how good they could've been

I want to say he didn't make it in this game because he already had War of the Lions which was also on PSP. I also heard Balthier was supposed to be in this game too but they scrapped him because of his cameo in War of the Lions.
@J7Jase I never heard of that. That is surprising. Kind of reminds me of how Vayne was never considered for 012. Tetsuya Nomura revealed if he was to use Vayne in 012 instead he would've went for others like Ashe or the original main protag Basch. Though in a roundabout way if Reks survived and wasn't killed, he could've been a better protag too.
@@daehan8227Reks was a unique case tho, he's basically the blueprint/sketch/beta version of Vaan, but they figured that they need a better looking "anime ikemen poster boy" with a more tragic backstory for the marketing. Ashe & Basch would make a better protagonist out of the bros but Reks would make more sense than Vaan since he's a soldier with a potential. But still, at least in a way Basch made an appearance in 012 (also presumably Ashe just like Minwu & Penelo) and Vayne is in NT, a bad place to made a debut but still welcomed regardless

She definitely should have been a lot better. I mean she can still win some tough match ups but its an up hill battle and if players are on equal skill level and knowledge they will feel it.

i wanted Tifa to be so good in this game but eh. Tidus ended up being my main due to his sheer speed and mix ups. he's predictable but once you train your opponent you can get into people's heads really easily. WoL is my back up. he's just solid all around, and i prefer to use him against less competitive players lol.
I dabble with Ultimecia. Jecht is fun to use but i suck ass lol.

Yeah Tifa deserved to be a lot better for sure. Instead Prishe was designed to be the easy face roll.
Tidus is a great choice. Hop Step mind games and Hop Step into Aerith Assist Change or even Hop Step + Yuna Assist is so annoyingly strong if done right. WOL is another very good choice too.
Ultimecia is face roll vs like Cloud lol and yeah same with Jecht. I could never use him much but so beast in the right hands.

The first Dissidia was an out of the blue and fun surprise, Duodecim was such a major improvement I can't play any other version. And after the introduction of Kain too, Still proving he's Baron's only elite Dragoon for a reason. Though I still have slightly more fun with Golbez.

Hearing about vs and matchups makes me want to watch some competitive Duodecim. Some kind of tournament where there's a kind of draft to pick which characters you can play as would be fun to watch.
There are some channels you can watch that show some good matches.
If you want to watch something exciting, competitive but not to the point where the players are acting like there is a million dollars on the line I recommend.
Dart's Channel or Watsonia Trigger.
I love this game, I was a beast with Tifa know this game.
Yuna was also really good, I have used all of the characters and have an ida of their gameplay because I loved the Creation mode, and I created one BIG story (I used the 100 slots 😅), especially the use of mods made it better.
I'm glad there are quite a few people who watch me that also play these other games I cover lol. I am surprised but happy at the same time.

Still need to try out NT though I’m looking to see if I can find the arcade version at a round one to try it out. The line up for the new characters look solid, Snow is definitely some one I’d love to try I’m a sucker for berserker/Muramasa characters.
And fingers crossed on an Offline Opera, I wanted to try it out when it came out by my phone had a very limited amount of storage and by the time I finally got something with a bigger capacity they announced they were discontinuing services.
Though on another note, I’d love to see a vid talking bout who’d you’d want to see in a new Dissidia and how they’d play. I’m always a fan of seeing what the community thinks and speculates.

Just like in Dissidia, I used: Squall, Gabranth, Exdeath, and Dark Knight only Cecil. However, I would mainly play as Kain. Using Rising Drive to bring the opponent to the ceiling, then waiting half a second for them to recover before using Sky Rave to slam them back into the ground is devastating.
I also played as Gilgamesh and my friend couldn't ever beat me. After we found out that Gilgamesh cheats because of the different swords he uses, I stopped playing as him to have more fair fights.

Squall became even more beast here as the assists help him out so much with landing HP attacks lol. I also love that Kingdom Hearts DLC look as well. Kain is super fun to play too, his HP attacks are just so great and I love his regular base Jump.

I was a Jecht main, and A is pretty accurate. He deals a ton of damage with his combos and his Jecht Block is strong and can deflect literally almost anything, but he's very execution heavy and not as welcoming to players as, say, Cloud. Awesome video! Consider me subbed!

So, I'm gonna share an idea that I've had brewing for the longest time for Bartz. His Mime playstyle CAN work, but the way his moveset is constructed is so limited.
So, I always proposed that his move structure be made like Prishe, with some Bravery A and B attacks that you can mix and match, just like Prishe. So you still get that feeling of mimicry, while keeping Bartz's identity as a free spirited improviser.
PS: Ride or die Laguna main. A tier list is irrelevant when you have The Greatest Attack EVER!
I'm not sure if there are any mods that you change or bravery attacks work in Dissidia 012 but if there is a way you could always try and experiment with it.
Props for using Laguna. It is a game after all and most people will just play in single player, main thing is have fun.

Feral Chaos vs Chaos is a fun matchup. Because of FC's enlargened hitbox, he can't dodge or escape Divine Punishment at all.

The last tier made by the dissidia community for 012 was done around 2018. I can try to find it for you if you really want to. Most players stopped playing once NT was released.

I like this list. I kinda feel like Jecht is at least A+. Just the fact that his fully charged bravery attacks crushes guards, jecht block deals with mostly everything in the game, and doesn’t have that bad of a Matchup spread.

As a Jecht main user here I can confirm he's so broken. He has a perfect block skill. Just stand in a one place timing the block then do the combo.
If you know him in and out sure he can be. But in lag and against players it can be tricky.
He is also pretty hard to play in my opinion.
How would you rank the assists of each character? I would say some of the best are usually the bravery or HP attacks that wall rush to extend combo game

One question, you talked about tournaments off this game, is there a community for this? I loved this game but at the time I wasn't able to play online since I know no one with it and the online functionality of PS3 wasn't available in my country.

I recently pick up this game again and I'm really surprised that someone actually did some 012 contents on yt in 2024. I would really love to see some guide in labyrinth mode as I most of the time don't know what I'm doing in there other than trying get any labyrinth gears.

My two favorite characters suck.
I still play Bartz but its weird how in 1 it feels like every move he mimiced flowed well while in 012 it feels like the picked the worst move from every character on purpose

i played this game a lot back in the day and dont remember some of those characters being that good while others being that bad, maybe the video couldve been a little longer giving a bit more explanation, theres so many attacks,skills,equips and summons in this game and that can change the playstyle and flow of combat of some characters drastically, other than that the video was really interesting, i think i will start playing this game again when i get some more time to test it myself.
This tier list mostly reflects multiplayer. I could have factored in more things about single player. While I also played this game a lot, there are others who have spent thousands. While longer play time and more experience doesn't necessarily translate into better, they should have at least some knowledge.
As for what you said about elaborating on every single thing you aren't wrong, however that video would easily be hours because we need to factor in so many builds, equipment setups and etc. But more importantly more people at this point will play it as a single player game. So have fun although some characters are just better than others.

Hard to say. Based on the history maybe, there were no plans after Dissidia 012 was made and then what do you know Square had Koei Tecmo develop Dissidia NT or the Arcade version lol.
And also Dissidia Opera Omnia which shut down unfortunately. I believe Balthier and Fran were in Opera Omnia, solid game even though it wasn't a fighting game like the other games.
There's an interview with the guy who directed the rhythm games and he more or less said that the only thing that they need to make a new dissidia game happen is someone willing to step up and direct/produce it. A new game could still happen, we just need someone passionate enough to take the reigns

Cloud being at A tier doesn't make a lot of sense. He's incredibly slow and easy to read, plus the only reliable move he has is quick cut. Honestly, he's more around B or C tier, although I wish he wasn't.
Double Cut is insanely good for mind games and you can punish players. Because he is popular everyone kinda knows how to play vs him but he is a beast in the single player mode too.
But I can totally understand your points.

I never played this game competitively but I always thought Cecil would be kind of high due to Paladin's Force, it's a HP attack that requires the first hit to connect for it to go through but the thing is if you hit the opponent with a ranged attack like Searchlight or if an assist hits the opponent then the attack while go through to it's conclusion and chase the opponent no matter how far away they are.
You can pull this off with Cloud and Tidus too but it is MUCH harder to do, I'm sure you already know about it and I guess PVP is a lot more close range combat so it probably doesn't matter if you know about it or not.
(There's probably other characters that can also do it that I'm not thinking about)
Searchlight just comes out too slow and it can be assist punished. I could have totally factored in the single play part a lot more for this video though as most of us will just play single player usually but that was a mistake on my part. I clearly leaned more towards the pvp side and should have looked at single player. But the video was going to be really long.
For close range combat it depends on the character being used but yeah definitely would want to fight up close with a good portion of the roster.
With Jecht Shot and of course Omnislash version 5 since I believe that is what you are referring to with Tidus and Cloud, can actually get punished with an assist change. (The player has to know when to dodge, the timing and of course dash up to you for an attack.) However, against the AI in single player feel free to constantly use these abilities.
@@J7Jase I don't know if you're aware of this channel or not but I stumbled upon these things from a now dead YT channel called EnemyToTheWorld, still some of my favourite Dissidia videos for the crazy stuff he manages to pull off, and in some cases even stuff the AI manages to pull off.
To this day I still think Dissidia 012 is my favourite crossover game, even above Smash Bros, I just love the depth of the combat in this game, even if it has some funny quirks here and there.
Jecht, Sephiroth should be A+
Gabranth should be B+ or A
Vaan should be B+
Laguna should be C

Jecht can punish attacks and leads them to HP attacks. The timing is not hard, the problem only how stable your matches is. Range is not really a problem since he had Jecht Block which can Win againt Med priority attacks and draw against HP attack. Muggshooter is infamous maining Jecht at the tournament. Perhaps Jecht by theory is against Emperor, and Exdeath.
Emperor and Exdeath have unblockable priority attacks to annoys most close range characters. But Jecht only have 1 bravery attacks for ground and air.
Also Jecht by matchup weak against super long attacks. Like both above and Ultimecia.
It's a matter of the player to use Jecht.
Sephiroth players always use Shadow Flare (air) as arsenal, both poke and filling Assist. If Shadow Flare hit, it can lead to Heaven Light HP attacks, if not, assist meter is got him covered. Not mention Shadow Flare spawned behind his opponent, so the choice opponent has to dodge.
Gabranth, obliviously EX depended. The matchups should be who have quickest bravery attacks to put Gabranth on pressure. Gabranth only struggles is maintaining both EX meter and Assist meter for backup escape. EX mode Gabranth had amazing bravery attacks for cl-med range. There's a video of Sys-XN vs Tabithia on the Match 1 about how brutal Gabranth in EX Mode is. Or watch KuroJet Gabranth matches
Vaan have plenty of builds because how many his Bravery attacks has. Every bravery attacks has it's purpose. Like Axe and shield > block and auto punish opponent.
Greatsword > dash foward to opponent good to closing gap between him and his opponent.
Katana to vertical opponent.
Staff > great mobility attacks also to creates EX clusters.
Basically he's Jack of all trades by his way.
You could see Laguna as setup character like Emperor, on the weaker side of course.
There's old video of LXD92 in [Genesis WB R2] bracket showing his Laguna plays.
He's not weak as Bartz that's it
Bartz mimicing his allies in Dissidia PSP is a stupid decision, every attacks is Low Priority or way too slow to startup, bravery to HP attack is bad. HP attacks is slow startup.
Bartz in NT tho. He's a monster.

You make very great points and they aren't really wrong however, this is my list and honestly my placements and rankings for those said characters aren't that far off from what you are saying. If people want to put Tifa in B that is completely fine as well or if they think her outfits and appearances suck. I even mention at the end it depends on a variety of factors such as equipment builds, match up knowledge the whole nine yards. Now if I said something outrageous like Prishe sucks and should be in C or D tier then sure feel free to rant.
If I were to make a video about going on every little single detail the video will easily be hours long. Side by Side builds, rulset, like official skill and so on. Precision Block, Concentration + etc
As for Jecht, again its a matter of opinion to me, on the timing or how difficult it is. There are a lot of players who would easily go and vote the other way of him being hard to use and to use him to his maximum potential. He can do all the things you stated yes, however even in the slightest of lag its a pain to do even things like dash feinting etc. Unless you really practiced in it in many matches. I respect that you main Jecht, I think FFX is just cool like that.
Why I knocked down Exdeath to S instead of putting him in S+. Very few players use him successfully same as Jecht. Sure both are very strong but there is a reason why they aren't used nearly as much.
As for Sephiroth I do recall mentioning the assist gauge part, I could be wrong, I get many comments through out my videos which I reply to practically everything more than other RUclipsrs my size and even smaller. If you consider him A+ that is great I can completely and agree with that. Although A isn't honestly too far off. Now if is like two letter grades that is quite significant.
Perhaps, I was somewhat harsh on Gabranth I don't think he is bad but I still prefer him in the first game by far. B and B+ I don't think are that too far off in my opinion that applies to Vaan too.
For Laguna your point is valid. Although C and D I honestly don't think they are that far from each other especially those two particular characters. Sure he might not be as weak but its honestly pretty darn close to me at least.
Bartz was solid in Dissidia 1. As for Dissidia NT it is a bit more complicated to rank characters as its a team based game and just an overall downgrade in my opinion. Didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game at all, less customization, pretty much near absent single player, laggy online. Square Enix should have developed that game.
While the focus was an esports and "balance." There is no such thing as real balance and I've played WoW PVP and Heroes of the Storm at very high levels. Even in Age of Empires 2, which is like the hottest RTS now, while they can strive for balance and its better in certain game among others, there will always be balance issues and that is just the way its going to be.

as someone who has like 800 hours and 100%ed the game, and decently into PVP, I have some disagreements:
-Exdeath is the best character in this game. even if you don't have omniblock down he has top assist buildup with teleport spam and his other block moves still give you guaranteed HP damage. or if you do have omniblock down you just can't lose ever. he is proof that 012 was not made to be a PVP game.
-Jecht is easily top 3. his backhand block is not quite omniblock bu it's still busted, jecht beam is one of the best HP attacks in the game, and his BRV attacks have top tier damage AND can chain into HP attacks.
-Kain is also top tier. his jump is a whole playstyle and his unique air dash is also very good.
-Zidane is high tier. he has extremely good offense because everything is fast and chains into meo twister, and free energy is also very good. and unlike most EX modes his is actually very good. he gets a bunch of air jumps and if he jumps over an attack you will get hit by a BRV into HP attack.
-onion knight is like zidane but slightly worse. everything chains into HP damage but his raw HP attacks suck.
-cloud of darkness is also a step above the rest. 0-form particle beam has checkmate setups, she has a reliable counter HP attack and anti-air particle beam is pretty good.
the rest of the cast is more or less interchangeable. they need assists to do anything against a human or beat the strongest AIs in reasonable times.
except maybe golbez, nightglow and the spinning meteors are pretty good.
and then there's the trash.
-The Emperor is not a character in PVP. you'll never hit anyone with anything. and even against the AI he's only good to cheese matches in a couple stages. he's just terrible.
-Gabranth is the worst character in this game. he has nothing going for him, no quick HP attacks, no BRV to HP attacks, no mobility, EX gain nerfs from accessories also affect his EX charge move. he has no salvation.

Exdeath has a much higher skill ceiling than the entire roster. While you can argue he is the best, only very few players have used him successfully. Why I knocked him down a few ranks. Your point is completely valid so feel free to disagree.
And to answer your comment about "not made to be a pvp game." That same thing can be applied to many competitive games where money is on the line. I've played WoW pvp and Heroes of the Storm at a high level not Blizz con level but in the top 1%. There is no such thing as real balance and that is just the way it is going to be. Even in Age of Empires 2 which is the hottest RTS right now, there is still no balance. Although Dissidia was made to be more for fun, casual and Final Fantasy fans.
Valid points for Jecht but again as for Jecht he is much harder to use and to use him in lag is a pain. He requires a lot of effort, but if you want to place him closer to the top than my list that is fine.
Last I checked A+ is pretty darn high on this list. I never said Zidane was bad. As for Meo Twister it is good, but it can be punished with an assist change by an experienced player, as I showed in the video so at times you need to be careful.
COD's Bravery attacks aren't that great for the most part or safe like others.
As for needing assists, this game isn't Dissidia 1, the assist system is there for all characters to use. As for interchangeable I'm not quite sure on that, Prishe is infinitely better not to mention much easier to use and way more face roll than someone like Tifa and Bartz. As much as I like Tifa as a character.
The Emperor can be good although I say not the best option vs Kuja and Kefka and a few others. Just has a different playstyle.
I wouldn't say Gabranth isn't weak he is pretty good. Just not as easy and requires some patience compared to Dissidia 1. You have to use other accessories that don't focus too much on EX since that will greatly hinder your assist gauge duration, build etc.

AOE2's best civ has 70% on it's best matchup and 53% on average.
that's kinda different from exdeath being 8-2 vs everyone except the guy that's banned for being too broken.
@@AlexanderMartinez-kd7cz Exdeath isn't 8-2 on everyone in the roster and that doesn't apply to each player at all. He takes a lot more skill to play and has a high ceiling.
Because there is no such thing as true balance in any game and that is the way it is going to be.
Take it from someone who has been at the top 1% in WoW Arena and Heroes of the Storm. While some games are better balanced than others, true balance is just impossible.
