Given that this person still had their mother around I don't think a full knee replacement is the likeliest scenario, but almost 1 million of those happen annually, along with several hundred thousand ACL and/or MCL surgeries per year. That's a few tens of thousands of infected knees from surgeries per year.

My mom and I always found fun things to talk about while at the doctors. We were once shushed by a nurse for laughing too loudly. It felt natural but truthfully, sitting in silence for an hour while you await an unknown medical procedure or news is awful. I think she intentionally made the atmosphere as light as she could.

it's fake. There's no anesthesiologist that will sedate a patient before they're on the operating table because when you're under they need to hook you up to a machine that helps you breathe. If they put you under before you're on the table they risk a lot of liability and getting tangled, damaging your airways, equipment coming loose (and you subsequently dying), etc.
You can totally use this in practice patients for new doctors. If anything it will teach new doctors to expect anything in such a way thats not potentially somewhat traumatic for a fresh faced medtern.

Also told them the pain meds they gave me in the I.V wore off and the pain was bad again and when I was brought back to the waiting room and my mom she asked the lady cause she know I said I was in bad pain again . The lady said I told her I was fine . No I said it was getting bad not I was okay . I’m just glad it wasn’t my appendix like we originally thought or that emergency surgery , would still need paying off .
You have no idea how happy nurses and doctors get when people are fun they’re surrounded by so much bad emotion just in their profession it does a lot to brighten the mood
Honestly, letting the kid doodle on himself is a great way to calm you down before surgery! Anesthesia and numbing stuff work better when you’re calm so it actually probably helped a lot I know this because when I started on my adhd meds my anxiety went way down and as a result, numbing stuff started working way better.

When u had knee surgery, I was told that I would have a numb spot. The funny thing is that my surgeon circled the exact spot and size of my numb spot.
