- The canon 35mm f1.4L was one of the first ultra fast prime lenses in the EF lineup, released in 1998 it still is regarded as one of the best 35mm lenses around and i absolutely love it.
There is Something special about this lens.

This lens was the lens that sparked my love towards 35mm focal length. Still my favourite till today!
Great to hear that! My first 35mm was the sigma art 35 1.4 but the image lacked some of the magic my other L lenses have
So I got this and didn’t look back. Also had the mark ii but it was just too sharp and lacked some of the flaws I love about this piece of glass
I missed your videos! Can’t wait for the next episode
Thx so much! More to come soon
stunning images!
Glad you like them! Many thanks 🙏
The second shot with the 35 attached to the R3, almost poop my pants. Dope shots bro 🔥
Thx buddy appreciate it
its my 1st 35mm lens... love it so much.
The best!
Sweet video! I love 35 1.4 for enormous atmosohere it creates, but I prefer f2 IS for stabilisation. New RF cameras with IBIS solve this problem, but for now I only have R without it. Anyway, keep these videos coming, you're good at it!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment here! Much appreciated 🙏 more to come
nice photos, did you use any front lens filters for the photos you shown in this vid? i notice the highlights tend to bloom alot, very nice effect
Yes I did for some shots, cinebloom 5%
Thx for commenting
This lens blooms highlights in certain scenarios without any filtration on top but it’s subtle
Should I change EF 35/2 for this legendary 35 1.4? 🤩
I believe so!
Subscribed. Nice video. I'm buying one of those lenses. They can be obtained for under $500 USD now.
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it, such a good value right now
Nice video. Originally had this lens and used it on several generations of 5Dx bodies. Was really nice. Eventually moved on to RF mount but I’m using the EF 35mm f/1.4 L II adapted with EF to RF adapter which I also like a lot. There is no RF 35mm I like as much. I know there is a run or of a RF 35/1.4L lens coming. I’m wondering if it will be special. Take care.
Thanks for sharing your experience and for commenting here! Much appreciated
Also looking forward to the RF 35 L hoping for 1.2
try to use tamuron 35 2.8 with sony.
Thanks a lot! I bought the 50 EF because of your review and now I will have to buy the 35. My wallet is 😭
Haha that’s how it goes usually😂
I want to know how this lens deals with cosine error on 5d.
What error?
@@DanAllouche I have 5d and 35L1. I'm used to the center point focus translation composition. When shooting with a close 1.4 aperture, the face is easy to be weak. I'm Chinese. This situation is called cosine error. I don't know what the foreign name is.
You've now praised the EF 85mm, EF 50mm & the EF 35mm. Which is ultimately your favorite?
I think the 50 is still top special sauce for me, but I do in fact love them all
Canon is trying to overturn your perception of red and orange
But you are also using a cinebloom filter for the highlights! Not only the lens.
For some pictures yes… the 5 percent cinebloom is my choice but for the most part I’m not using it
@@DanAllouche I think Look amazing on those foggy nights.
blury len's, not sharp, too much cromatic abberations. kakaha.
Not true, if you’ve watched the video you will know
@@DanAllouche no man, it's true, this lense some kind of bottle glass. Best buy - Sigma Art.
No, this lens have a lots of character, color contrast, no only cromatic aberration, i love the CA in my photos
Nothing wrong with this lens, if it’s blurry your shutter is too slow, not as sharp as newer lenses doesn’t mean it’s not sharp enough, only amateurs worry about razor sharp images, chromatic aberrations, pfff, who gives a shit.
Haha, just because you're fucking noob :))
Lmao, the new 35mm isn't made with optical perfection in mind either. Wtf you saying.
Indeed you’ve convinced me you don’t know anything about optics.
