I knew prior to watching that you were going to “steal” an architectural feature from that house and not a physical object. You have an eye for what looks right when it comes to trim carpentry and there is nothing wrong with “taking” good ideas from a current build to apply in future projects.
Rich - get yourself a set of French curves - used by draughtsmen back in the day. They will be very useful when you're noodling around with designs with curves.
This is the advantage of being in construction. You can steal all the awesome Ideas from jobs you do and combine them to make your own home a work of art.

Richard, one thing I learned in college is that if you steal a small amount of something, it’s called plagiarism; however, if you steal a bunch, it’s called research-looks like research to me. BTW the 90 degree profiles are known as Fillets and the profile is a Roman Ogee. Keep researching brother.
Also used to make heater toe kicks the same way under kit. and bath sink cabinets as well as built in window seats, banquets seats and toy boxes. Endless ideas. Your crown Moulding is excellent, now branch out to custom trim like you have done today.
I havnt seen corners wrapped in a YT video in a long time. I always wrap corners in heavy traffic areas. Doesn't take much to mess up a new casing, and if it's stain grade...
I can truly appreciate the bucket trick to find an arc. My wife caught me one day with all of the lids to her pots and skillets out on the counter when I was looking for a template. Do yourself a favor and buy a set of french curves (drafting tools).
To mass those I bet you could make a router template and cut them close-ish with a bandsaw and clean them up with a flush trim bit. Maybe glue the top and bottom piece on to make those square edges after you make the curved parts. So build in 3 pieces.
I like the throat plate on the band saw for the sawdust collection.i used to use various objects for curves . Then I discovered giant compasses. Using a 12 ft 1x2 I would drill pencil sized holes every 1 inch.a pivot point at one end, lay pattern, or plan on bench, (my bench was 12 ft also), perpendicular to pivot , then move along "compass until you get to arc you want. That's the radius on the circle via big compass.
Man, I like the way that looks installed. Old school trendy style was insane, especially when you wrap you head around that they did it with hand tools. The amount of work time and craftsmanship is remarkable. I hope they got paid well back then for their craft.
I do this all the time. I don’t always remember where I got the idea but I know I’ve either seen it before or just combined two or more ideas to creat my own. I know some of of things I’m doing know I’ve stolen from you!
Have you heard of the Metabo vacuum atatchment that works on any vacuum? It plugs into the wall then your vacuum plugs into that, then it has a litle band that goes near your tool and the tools vibration then starts the vacuum. Could be good for the 60v Dewalt drop saw.
When I was a boy we once lived in an old house that had some really nice trim features, nit like my current house ☹️. That trim piece looks really nice!
It is called an ogee. However, the name is commonly applied when cut along a horizontal plane. I'm not aware of a name for it when shown in a cross-section. The cross-section is commonly shown to display the profile when using that style of router bit, which is quite common.
Nice job Rich! In one of your prior videos you used a veneer piece of rift sawn white oak on the hood range. Do you know where I can find a piece similar to what you used? Looking to dot the same for my house.
I realy like the way the bullnose? Is that the right word? anyway, I like how the rounded part of the step wraps around too and is finished like the stairs, it's striking but not out of place at all.
At some point that idea was going to pop out of that head of yours anyway! You have way too much crafty stuff crammed in there waiting to come out. Nice job as usual!
Think about the technician that has to move your front load washer or dryer for repairs. If he or she is not able to slide them out you will have to make them assessable. The wood work looks awesome.

My last comment.... you can visualize something in your mind, translate into design. That's the best way to sell skill. The customer may not visualize your idea so sketch out for them, another selling tool of your skill. Did you find the old book, The Encylopedia of Architecture, yet?
@@johnlebzelter4208 What difference does that make? Do you feel better about yourself when you're trying to tear others down? You're not going to build yourself up by tearing others down. You'll just look and feel worse.
Richard, you have no idea how many ideas I've "stolen" from you. Similar to you, if I can see it, I can make it happen, but I don't have a creative bone in my body.

You are the person that inspired me to become a trim carpenter. I found my career because of you, thank you.
Powerful stuff sheesh
Same here 💯
Thanks man
Same here man, going on 4 years 👊
He inspired me to become a trim guy too and start a lil company and see what happens. Richards the 🐐

What an amazing little detail to add Bud!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Your craftsmanship is second to none. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the great ideas.

Where we live thats historic district homes they call that scallop trims and scallop base and its s nice feature... Timeless
The stairway looks so clean! Like it
Classic trim work always my favorite

A case of pretty larceny if I ever saw one. Your baseboard gives the end of the laundry the appearance of a built-in furniture piece.
Light chisel work and a fast hand sand for those corners bud. Embrace the woodworking side even more. Your work will elevate even higher

Right!! My 1st thought was Gunner portholes - incase you have to defend your property

Looks great. Idea's abound for the keen of eye.
Check out cyma recta curve, cyma reversa curve
That reminds me of crown molding. I believe it’s called ogee cut . That’s just what it needed.

Why not use the router with a flush trim bit for cutting out from template?
I saw the same stair detail in an old house in Bolivia, except the cut was tapered not straight
You're a true craftsman with a keen eye.
Classic Roman Ogee is what you call that lip and those "swoops ".
Legend ! Master of ure job ! Love u

Nice touch 👍

It’s called an Ogee. It is a classic architectural curve and has definite series of proportions.
your laundry is looking amazing.
Great job as always but what was the purpose of creating the template?
We need more shots that include the yellow frame!
Nice idea for the toe kick. Gives it a furniture look.
Hello my friend, your work is great, I like your idea💙🙏👍
You should buy a set of French curves, I used them when I was an apprentice they are very cheap and handy
So, you stealing the old reverse cyma with a double quirk ! Naughty you 🤣🤣🤣
It looks amazing, great job
Nice job Richard !!!!
Thats beautiful. Show us more cool detail stuff
The toe kick looks great!

Great job.
You should make plastic stencils. Take a piece of lexan copy the design cut it on the lexan and then you have a repeatable stencil.
Think about the technician that has to move your front load washer or dryer for repairs. If he or she is not able to slide them out you will have to make them assessable. The wood work looks awesome.
Just make a mini ramp and slide it out.
Where do I go to buy your Dewalt/Milwaukee shirts ?
Whoaaaa that's super kool 🔥🔥🔥
That's going to be a pain in the ass to vacuum into and mop when the floor gets dirty! lol
milwuakee anounced an m12 finish sander the other day at mps 2022 might be somethingn usefully for your type of work and small 90s like that imo
Kind of looks like a common ogee profile one might see on a cabinet door raised panel profile, to me anyway.
Watch out Bob Vila, Because this thing is shhweet 👌
Bob has nothing
what kind of carpentry is when you nail the stuff on face of the material?
I think black Formica laminate behind the toe kick trim would celebrate the accent. Just a thought.
PirateBay.. ah, what memories :D ... I meant, never heard of that before in my life!
Cool man! I noticed your window isn’t finished out. What about…… 👍
You are the best 👌
Good content. 👍
Nice swipe bro!
I’m sure those old carpenters stole it too
Oops I just wrote almost the same thing. I’ll delete it so you won’t think I stole it.
It's not stealing, it's borrowing somebody's idea for your own personal use.
You need a set of French curves they are standard for carpenters of the past they are a magic tool to get perfect proportions
Sweet steal!!!
This is not related to the video. But do you use popup tent over your outsider workstation, if so, any recomandation?
Best recommendation is to make sure it is not too windy.

Softening the edges, maybe with a simple 1/8" roundover might be cool
That’s good Richard, but you could have coped it with tracing paper.

They did that with a piece of crown it looks like.
They traced the detail onto a piece of wood
Theft only occurs when something is found to be "missing" . Since nothing is missing , no theft has occurred . Case closed . Charges are dismissed .
they dont invoke those type of finish carpentry anymore as you have few craftsman like yourself and more plain-vanilla carpenters
You will be so happy when you finally get/make a workbench…
