Do you know that nothing is waisted from the coconut? You can add sugar to the part you sieved from the oil and keep on cooking until it turns brown to become coconut toffee, it is delicious and children love it. You can make drinking cups from the shell of the coconut if sawed neatly into two and sandpapered. You can ground the husk (off the shell) and use it to improve the soil for farming. "Igi owo ni igi agbon lehin igi ope." May you be greatly enriched.

Leah, I watch your Anti-cancer Soursop juice and share; if you grater the coconuts, wash in water (juice with appropriate cloth), it probable will yield much more oil. Use the material like what they packed garlic (5 head). It is a very fine mesh material. Grand-parent use to do this for ALL round uses - hair, skin and cooking - callaloo with saltfish; it nice!!!!!!! You could yam crushed in coconut oil. You can get approximately 65% more oil if you had juice the coconuts 2 more times with 65% less water each time you juice. It is also possible is you had used wood - coal to boil the entire liquid; that it what my grand parent do and it yield 1 pint bottle of oil with less than 7 coconuts. I presumed the water after you had skim the cream is used to make peas-soup, stew-peas, corn porridge etc..... Do not throw away the custard - it is nice with roast plantain, yam, banana, salt fish, mackerel, red herrings etc... To mix the oil - flavour it; boil it with cinnamon leave or sick, rosemary - but you can extract those flavour in the oil later by using the same coconut oil to stir fry the herbs - infuse flavour oil!!!
Thank you for showing us this process! I have never seen coconut oil made from scratch before now. I really enjoyed it. I will try this out soon. Thank you again.
