Man I been researching pedal kayaks. I am so glad you made this review of the 2020.
The 2019 drive breaking, i was beginning to think I was going to have to spend the big bucks if I wanted a pedal kayak like that. Pedal driving a trolling motor won’t work for me.
I have been fishing out of an inner tube (aka belly boat) since I was 11. Bass fishing.
Fishing without making any noise is so key. There are other small boats in the 10’ range but they use an electric trolling motor. I am fishing very small bodies of water. I own a 18’ bass boat. I’ve always loved the small ponds and creeks. So I am thinking I could stay dry (you get wet in a belly boat.) with a kayak. I used a friends once and it is very hard to use a paddle as cast repeatedly.
So thank you. I think no more than I will use the kayak and the small waters I fish on the 2020 Pelican will work great. I have Pelican Gun cases and Pelican ice chest. I love those products. I have fished out of big boats in big bodies of water and there is just something different when you are in the water or just on the surface fishing. And i probably won’t 100% give up my inner tube. You just can’t make 1 piece of equipment do it all. If a man can you have to have several different tools, or in my case boats.

Those HD drives break too easy, sold my pelican after going thru 4 dif drives, never hit anything they broke in open water, after I sold it they came out with the HD 2, Lmk if the HD2 is better plz. Thx
They should add a pull cord like Hobie that parks the fins flat against the boat for use in shallow water.
Ok, last question for real. Great videos by the way...I've been bank fishing for 5-6 years now. Go some change to spring for a boat, money still tight. So the question is, DO I REALLY NEED REVERSE????????????

So I got the 2019 model with the original HyDryve and I've been out maybe 20-30 times at most and I'm on my 3rd drive. After the 3rd failure, Pelican is finally sending me the HyDryveII. Im hoping it performs unlike it's older version. And I never hit any rocks or trees, never left the drive in while in shallow water and always take it out before coming to shore. What happened with mine is I'd be pedaling like I normally do, then all of a sudden you feel the drive just go limp. I pull it out and one of the fins is just flapping around while the pedal was stationary (no broken rod, just flopping around). Hoping they solved the issue

Aliex Folgueira my man. I can’t even deal anymore. So they ended up sending me the newer version of the hydryve but it was broken when I got it. Apparently damaged during shipping. So they go and send another one (4th drive by the way) and they send the older version of the drive. Pelican you guys are killing me.

1st day in the water with the pelican catch 130 HD2 ... drive broke! The pulley wheel on the top disintegrated... mad isn’t the word. Also rudder was warped, seat doesn’t hold position for any amount of time. Move along and buy another brand.

So it’s the same boat. You can mod the old with the same “improvements” with ease.

@@AliexFolgueira Im in Atlanta Kayaking with a inflatable kayak on the Chattahooche River the waster too low get caught on rocks i use to work in Homestead AB in 2015 I miss the beaches I'm going to hit you up if i ever come back out there
