Dang that was perfectly said . And really thanks now I really understand. Good teaching. All I hear I negative about acert but I have over a million miles keep it toon and oil change ,breathers ,transmission oil ,and differentials, greesed . Run 65 miles no issues thanks to the good lord. I've learned there very good motors. 18 spd eaton fuller, 336 rear gears love the truck Thanks for the lesson .
Definitely waffles, less cake and more crunch and not soggy as fast and they go better with fruit toppings😊 Oh and I believe that twins are better because of more frequent street driving ... More streetable is worth the extra clutter in the end requirement for me
Dual Turbo MXS Factory 600 🐎 The turbos used to have issues with mounting bolts breaking and the bellows breaking or coming loose. We tried turning it up but it wrecked a liner within 24 hours of being tuned up to 725. The turbos didn't mind either way. Replaced all the liners and tuned it back to 525 to promote engine longevity. Have your tuning done by a reputable outfit. And make sure they have an in house Dyno. The good shops dyno all tuning to make sure it's 100% correct. The place I used didn't and there was a tuning problem they couldn't fix it because no Dyno!!!!
I put a dial in front diesel freak on my acert and it gave me a great range of power and better fuel economy, because I wasn't working the gearbox as much. I was driving a 2009 western star pulling triple road train in the Australian outback.
The two turbos fit pretty tight. The two turbos are great. I am happy with my 2011 caterpillar engine. My truck was built in 2010 but titled as 2011. The only thing that I would change is the exhaust filter. Although the filter works very well just don't shut off the engine if the exhaust indicates it is hot. When it's hot carbon is being cooked.
I service 2 KME type 1's - One has the single and the other has the compound. I prefer the single set up just for its simplicity. The firefighters have no idea the difference between the 2. They perform close to identically.
I heard the compression ratio of the single is bigger than the twin, if you make the conversion and dont replace the piston rings to high performance piston rings and the head block as well you are more likely to have an engine blow out due to more power being put in.
I think it's time to get this compound crap off my back! Shit leaks like a wicker basket! Will my Steed Speed Manifold still werk with the single conversion?
What is the maximum boost pressure? 20 lbs will probably spin the tires in the rain when you're empty, taking off a little uphill ,on the rain slick road.. Old "B" modle 5 speed, low end torque to spin the earth the wrong way.Mack. Awesome trucks.
I know lots of guys that make more power and get better mileage. I did that with my old big cam Cummins and I have friends that have done it with 12.7 Detroit engines.
Great information, as I have the accert with the compound set-up and have contemplating the switch to single turbo, when mine needs replacing. I will contact you for getting the whole kit. Again, thanks!
Great Video! In your opinion do you think the C-15 Acert Factory Two Turbos cause blowby earlier in the engines life than the original 3406 or 6NZ single turbo?
I drive a C15 Acert MXS. There have been several drivers before me and I’m just now getting the truck to 400,000 miles. Bad blow by and oil coming out from where the pan and bottom end meet. Does this blow by not only affect the motor but also the compounds? Power is all there and fuel mileage is sitting at 3.1 mpg.
Hey, can you do a video explaining more on the SDP? That would be great because it looks like nobody ever talks about them. For a second I thought you were but you said we are not going to talk about them which was a bummer for me lol thank you I appreciate it. Hopefully you read my comment.
I know one thing I hate the acert had the bsx damn thing was rebuilt by cat 4 times the fith time they put a mxs in and that’s junk 2 it has no boost needs to be overhauled after 100,000 blowby if crazy but sent it to cat got it back it’s still the same junk been running it for 3 years with blowby boss don’t want to rebuild it. Now the turbos are making a noise I never heard before through the air cleaners so I’m hoping for one to go bad and start sucking the oil out the pan so I can watch it burn to the ground.
So? What y’all think? Get one at momentum worx or at the dealership? They want like $8K and is like $4k for the yellow box!😂 If the oem are made by Garrett is better to take Cat dealer out of the way and get the brand directly or these guys right?
I have a question I have a kw t660 2014 with a paccar engine . We taking this engine out and putting a 60 serie 14 l ddv I would like to know what's the best set up to haul
wow you got a good working setup then.I've read one time that a compound setup would do 46psi and something about the head was built to take the pressure with the IVA's on top.I myself still got the original MXS setup.I used to see only 25psi.I programed to 550hp including delete of IVA's and started seeing 30psi with new injectors also.it runs a whole lot better but I do know I have sunk valves on two cylinders. still running good enough.so going to a single I dont think it's gonna hurt anything because you'll go down to 30psi.now what I think and maybe wrong on this is not recomending deleting the IVA's with the 45psi.my two cents
@@jrbernal2267 it doesn’t seems good 475 is just weak lol I’ve seen guys pulling 60psi but it wasn’t a stock file…..but the turbo i got is non waist gate so it should pull so boost ….i really just want a cleaner engine bay and the sound of a single turbo and cooler temps
@@larrymccoy7383 oh yeah I get you..that cleaner and spacious right side looks awesome. I'm just waiting for better times to do the change myself including a new head.
i have a c-13 with 1million,200,000 on it--got it from cat factory as a rebuilt long block after a bearing spin on rebuilt--cat replaced no charge on warranty-accert-uses 1 gallon of oil between changes--my 2nd one--light weight, great fuel mileage-i think they are great motors--will go one turbo on rebuild by pti--i have only replaced one injector in all those miles
Actually "compound" is definition of turbo that applying it's output energy on the crankshaft - this system is used currently in Volvo and Scania trucks, powered by "in house" powertrain (now applied in "International", due to using Scania's powertrain). And VAG define such type ACERT"s "twin" as "Bi-Turbo"
I believe what you are referring to is “Turbo Compounding” which is not the same as “Compounding Turbos” like what are found on C15’s. Turbo compounding is using exhaust pressure to provide energy directly to the crankshaft. Compounding turbos are just that, turbos that compound their flows and pressure.
4 years on your FullTilt manifold and single turbo 80mm 1.32 and good tune. 700hp on a crank. No issues. Absolutely love this set up!
I'm looking at twins alert engine what do I need to lookout for?

I have 1.7 million.Had to rebuild it on 1.4 million.Great engine
As a new diesel mechanic this was a great educational vid
Very well done video and absolutely hate the Navicat truck. We hated those when I worked at the dealer!!!

Just did a single turbo conversion and complete overhaul, no lie I’m in love
What did it cost you
I like waffles and twins 07 w9 rebuilt 16:1 kept the twins 625/2050 tune runs great my single turbo 6nz ran great also
Great presentation skills and great video, learnt heaps from this, thanks mate
Great video brotha learned a lot

Stock compounds will squeeze 1100hp but your egt will be high.
Not very good for a working truck
I’m not looking forward for my compounds to fail but I am looking forward to swap to a single now is better to go with a gated or Waste gated
What's the cost involved in switching to a single and what else needs to be done?
Upgraded twins are far wider, more efficient and better spooling.
Oil supply/discharge, exhaust manifold, CAC plumbing, etc.
@@Iowagrown123so it be cheaper to upgrade the twins then go single turbo

U make a tune to get more power out of the twin turbos?
Twin lovers
Keep it stock. And simple
Great video, do you guys do tunes or a remote tune for my 6NZ?
We don't do any tuning, sorry! But there's plenty of good tuners out there for the 6NZ platform fortunately!
I do. PM me
Do you have similar video's for a C13? or is the findings/comparison the same?
Are there any twinscroll options for applications this large?
I have an MXS C15, is there different size compound turbos or are they all the same?
Will you recommend a tune? I have mxs single, bought the truck already converted,

Can I use the manifold off my 5ek and BW s410g to convert my MXS?
Depending on the orientation, yes
I prefer compound waffles. One waffle just isn’t enough.

Over 2 million miles in the original twin turbos
My truck runs better on a single turbo then it ever did on a compound system
Anyone see mileage improvement after switching to single?
yes 7.5
Yes and a lot less heat also.
I think I need to retune mine or maybe a smaller turbo, because mine runs a lot hotter on EGT than when i had the compounds.
Depends on the area but i've got as much as eight miles a gallon
Tampering with the turbos on the acert engines is messing with a emissions device that’s why cat did that. It’s very illegal
