The old man that was playing was playing on a traditional bulgarian pipe called kabapipe or in bulg.kaba gaida(gaida means pipe)and the people you saw dancing were dancing a traditional bulgarian dance called horo and there are hundreds of different tipes of horo dance....they try to resurect the tradition to gather jn the town/village square centuries ago, mainly in the weekends and dance .....one of the most unique horo is the ice horo wich is played on the 6 of january on the day of john the baptiser when a priest throws a wooden cross in to the cold winter water and young men jump to take it and who wins take some money😂,it is more about the fun and the tradition, but in couple of mountain villages like kalofer(the most famous)they dance horo into literally freezing river and during the ottoman occupation the turks were scared to death by this scene and the bulgarians were doing it for purpose to show that they are strong and are not affraid😀
