Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I have had someone play the guitars I had planned to purchase to me before making a final decision . It was so different then the sound when I played it. An eye opener
I have a Taylor 314 which uses Sepele and, although I really like the guitar's feel fit and finish, I feel as though it is the weakest tonewood out of the bunch. It was my first high-end guitar and I enjoyed the sound at the time because it was so much better than my $100 Ibanez, but as time went by and I started trying other guitars, I realized that I could get much better tone. Fingerpicking it is ok, but while strumming it, it feels as though the midrange is almost completely absent. Although definitely present, the highs are not sparkly at all like rosewood or maple. Also, it's missing the rich chorus-like undertones that something like Mahogany has. If you are spending thousands of dollars on guitars like these, I would not recommend the Sepele ones.
Shit, I just spent $2k on the 314ce made out of Sapele, mostly because of the limited edition version they made for video game. You’re 100% right though, I like the deeper tones on all the other woods, I don’t care much for the treble sound sapele wood has, maybe down the line as I get better I’ll start craving a much richer and warmth sound and shed cash for what I would consider my last guitar.
@@Lopkkpa If you're talking about The Last of Us part 2 one than you mean you spent about $2500 for it, because that is about as much it will cost you with the tax added on to the $2300 it cost. I'm not much of an acoustic person (I have an electric) but I was thinking about getting that one as well because I do want an acoustic eventually. But now I'm going to to think about it more. Because although it would be nice to have a real replica from the game, I more so value getting my money's worth in sound quality. I just want the best I could get for that price range. So I'm going to hold off until I learn more about acoustic and all there is available. The info on the sapele body was valuable. Glad I came across this comment. It made me reevaluate my decision to spend that type of money when I'm not fully knowledgeable.
On the contrary, I love sapele. And mahogany does NOT have chorus-like undertones. Mahogany and sapele sound very much alike, except that sapele has a bit more highs and a bit more lows. Mahogany has the mids for itself.
I agree with you. I do not like Sapele at all. But it’s not because it’s cheap, I genuinely don’t like the sound. I love walnut and it’s cheap. I’d probably take walnut over rosewood to be honest. We all have our thing :)
I honestly was surprised at how similar they all sound. Lots of lower budget comparison videos seem to show much more tonal and volume differences. Was there eq’ing and compressing going on in post production? In person, the Grand Orchestra is wayyy louder and deeper bass than the others. You can barely tell here. Likewise, Mahogany in person is super narrow in dynamic range and has very little bass and treble range (great even sound). All the guitars here sounded bright and jangly, which is also why Taylor guitars seem to leave something to be desired.
I was also surprised that they weren't more different, but listening on studio monitors the difference was definitely there. I agree (especially on Grand Orchestra) there seemed to be some compression, but I think the "fullness" still came through. I think the biggest factor (besides any post processing) might be the proximity of the mics to the guitars. The distance will roll off some of the low end and miss some detail in favor of room noise, BUT, it makes for much higher consistency take-to-take. Always trade-offs. Just makes me want to try them all in person!
a better conclusion could have been drawn if guitars were compared after each tune instead of doing 4 tunes and then going to the next guitar. kind of a silly over sight - but i guess i can figure out all of the timestamps myself and compare

I picked up and played the Blackwood model in a shop and LOVED the sound that came out of that guitar.
Taylor's are the best acoustic guitars you can buy, hands down.
I really liked the grand Pacific and grand symphony
This was SO helpful! Thanks!
what’s the best taylor (shape, tonewoods) for 90s alternative rock?
Thinking of getting a Taylor for fingerpicking and maybe a Martin for strumming and big sounds

Thanks for the info, i think i agree. I still like the old traditional rosewood side and back

I'd like to hear a comparison of the various 12 string models, body sizes, woods, scale length, etc.
may i know the string guadges used? and why the Black Wood has a Classical Head? To hank you.
So my question is what models of guitars where you using? Specific guitars size model class or series?
What mic is being used? Sounds so good!

Dreadnought series x bracing was the best taylor guitar
Hey man! My honest opinion, the sound is very treble.. it might be because of the mic.
This could've been made simpler by calling it "What's your budget?"
Majd, here you go. www.sweetwater.com/insync/how-much-does-price-matter-for-acoustic-guitars-with-sound-samples/
Majd Shufani I think the purpose was strictly sound
They all sound great but they all sound too brand new ... Great choice of microphones for recording!
Grand auditorium taylor is the best. Dreaudnaught martin

Played alot of Taylors, I prefer Martin.
The thing about Taylor is none of their guitar have any nice rich low end. Every model sounds paper thin to me.
