This was performed by the talented Benny Goodman and his iconic orchestra. I was amazed at how great this recording had sounded. After all music 🎵 is the international language. 🎼🎶
I got to see Benny Goodman at least 3 times, he is a ONE of a kind musician my favorite period 1937-1945 his best mostly during this period.. I saw Parts of the Russian band a couple of months after he came back Zoot was gone but the band was fantastic.
This concert is from a Benny Goodman band tour of Russia in 1962. The moment in which Nikita Khrushov stood up and applauded enthusiastically at the swing of Goodman and his band is famous.
The newer pieces impress most as tildes the phenomenal sax section (well Phil Woods and Zoot Sims! - Woods is the magical lead alto) and the Bill Crow and Mel Lewis bass and drums team. Best Goodman since the Sid Catlett Cootie Williams band in 1941. Love my 2 album orgunial and only wish more was recorded of the originals and Joya Sheryll
Caro Benny Goodman, grazie per essere esistito e per aver dedicato la tua vita alla musica. Come era Mosca?
Andrzej Mróz I listen to Benny every day.As a kid I had teenage brothers and sisters so I was brought up on swing.Lucky for me I had exposure early on.We had some great Dj’s in Philly in those days.
Dear mr. Vincent, please listen to The Benny Goodman Sextet in Copenhagen 1972, and you´ll hear both the tone and the technically abilities, absolutely intact!! And I wish You a nice X-mas and a fine and swinging New Year 2018
Dude....just look at some late videos on RUclips, where Benny is over 70, and jammin'! Like one I just listened to, The World is Waiting for the Sunrise...he KILLS it, here: ruclips.net/video/nZazFYqtQC0/видео.html
Benny is playing great on this throughout, but the sidemen are a letdown at times. Sloppy and draggy, eg "One O' Clock Jump". Same for rhythm section. The feel ain't right. No wonder Benny got on their case. Sounds like the booze is flowing on some of these tracks.
Good old jazz and swing luckily I have a grandma who loves jazz and swing

WHAT a Concert!!!
Some new tunes for Benny...
But he did it well!!!
And WHAT a great orchestra......
WOOOOW!!
Swing and early bebop are the most enjoyable forms of JAZZ for me....
I'm struck by the quality of these musicians... I mean, in every phase, top notch. And too... these arrangements are genius. Thanks for posting!
It was a great band. Phil Woods played lead alto!!
Phil Woods killing the Alto on solos AND section work
What great music by Benny Goodman

When a reporter asked Zoot Sims what it was like playing with Benny in Russia Zoot replied ' Every gig with Benny is like playing in Russia "
Lou McConnell Is this true? Moscow from Brooklyn?"
Lou McConnell True? Andropov was a in for real treat! ' To Russia with Love"? What year was this performance truly recorded? Is this true?

Duca!! Muito bom
Mel Lewis was the drummer. He was featured on Sing, sing, sing and got a heavy hand from the audience. Benny didn’t play Sing, sing, sing anymore.
Oh that Benny. There’s a reason for the tune Don’t Be That Way!
Tapping my feet !
!!!!!!!
shooooow...
Why did I get all the ads mid-song

This sounds like someone else
I hear you; so much of this music is not in his style, and even though the band is jammin', it's not what we expect when we hear Goodman.
You are right. At times it even sounds like Buddy Rich band
Goodman had lost a lot technique by the early sixties but his ego was intact! Great band!
Benny could always play, my friend, even to his last performing days. False, what you claim.

He NEVER lost technic!
Just music lost so many things.
He lived this music era.
He haved To adapt his playing.
But he did really well
@@Fioniajazzband You right!!!
