    🎬 Welcome back to my channel! In this video, I share with you my TOP 5 bestselling books on Amazon KDP. That is, I share what TYPE of book they are and how much they made in royalties. I’m asked frequently: “What type of book do you sell and what type of book sells the most?” Therefore, it’s a question I thought that I would answer today. However, I want to clarify that it really isn’t just ONE type of book that does well and what may work for one person, may not at all for another. You’re always going to produce better work in niches that you enjoy working in. If you force yourself into creating certain types of product, just because you think they will be profitable, you may find yourself quickly running out of steam and inspiration. So, ideally find something that you do have a passion for and that will make the work much easier.

    OMG. I want to cry. I was sure you were publiahing next-level activity books for kids that were so brilliant and so brilliantly designed that even kids didn't want to mark them up because they were in awe of the design! Instead, here you are doing journals with prompts--something any of us could do as well! Thank you for making this video!

      @RagsToNiches  5 месяцев назад +2

      lol nope. Definitely not next level activity books - I’m not a designer and don’t hire illustrators. However, some of the main sellers were published when it was less competitive than it is now. There weren’t many in those niches when I started but there is now. That said, there is definitely still room on KDP to make a mark. 😊

    Another great video, thank you. You're videos are always informative and helpful - as well as motivating! Would you consider sharing your Ads strategy by any chance? I'd be interested to know how long you would run an ad campaign for on a new title, and do you run the same type of campaigns in all territories? 🤗
    I tend to do well with children's handwriting practice books - in particular, holiday-themed ones.

      Hi Amanda, thank you so much. That’s interesting to know re the handwriting books. Congrats! Re the ads, I can definitely do a video about ads but it’s a tricky one because it’s so variable. I’m not very good at following a strict strategy either so, it changes book to book. I will have a think about how I can explain it though. As far as different territories yes - for a new book I will tend to try both and auto campaign and a product targeting campaign. I’ve only recently included Australia sometimes - but often it will be USA, UK and often Canada. 🤗

    Congrats on your success - that is fantastic ! I’ve always loved how you emphasize the possibilities on KDP and how we should be using our own common sense and brain first before all the fancy tools 😂 super interesting to hear your top books and completely different from my two that sell. I’m fascinated that one ad and. Book took off in the UK and nowhere else - that proves there are cultural subtleties too in what appeals to who!

      Hey Jen!! Thank you, I'm pleased you found it interesting. Oh yes, 100% the brain before tools always 😂. Re the Ads, this is pretty common for me. A book often seems to work better in one country over another. Such as, I weirdly have one that only seems to work in Australia. This is definitely another reason to experiment with different marketplaces. :)

      @@alienarachnid5367 Do you create books in Canva? Could there potentially be an image or something similar coming over the margins that you may not be able to see? I have personally done that by mistake at times. I went into canva and made the pages black just so I could see if anything was there and it was. Sometimes I can't figure it out and I create a new document, copy over the content, check all sizes and download again. It sounds like something is either over the margin or that you need a bleed/sizes not right.

    Appreciate it

    • @RagsToNiches
      @RagsToNiches  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hi - thanks Sabrina! I don't 100% understand the question. Is it an undated planner you're creating? Does it have prompts etc? Sometimes I will just have a one page template/interior and repeat it in the book. Sometimes I will create several pages with different prompts, (like 7 pages) and then repeat those 7. Or sometimes I will do different prompts on every page so, it really depends but any of those are ok. I don't use use the same interior across multiple books though, (unless it's just a notebook). I will always make it unique in some way. I hope that helps?

  • @preciouschinwe2

    Great video! Please is there any tool you use to add prompts to your journal, I mean a tool that can add like 120 prompts into 120 pages of journal at once or do you do it manually.

    • @RagsToNiches
      @RagsToNiches  Месяц назад

      Thank you! You could ask chat gpt. Not for all 120 at once. I would ask for 10. Then another 10 and so on. You need to declare if you use straight text ai without editing but I would edit each quote anyway. I’ve done prompts manually before but have used chat GPT recently to help with all sorts - I choose to edit it though.

    • @preciouschinwe2
      @preciouschinwe2 Месяц назад +1

      @@RagsToNichesThanks for your reply. I know that chatgpt can be used to generate the prompt, What I mean is: what I'm asking is: what tool do you use to add the prompt to the journal, do you copy and paste manually to all the 120 pages?

    • @RagsToNiches
      @RagsToNiches  Месяц назад +1

      @@preciouschinwe2 Hi! Yes, that is exactly what I'd do. I don't tend to have that many unique prompts - but if I had a different quote each week or something then, yes I would just have to copy and paste them in. Tangent templates does have a tool where you can copy and paste the list of prompts and it will add it to each page though. But that is specifically using their planner creator and I tend to create my own interiors in Canva. There probably is a much easier way, I just don't know of one! :)

      @RagsToNiches  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! Well, that's great that you're a good designer, (so you have an advantage) but unfortunately, that's only half of the battle. So, you need to be targeting niches where you have some hope of making a sale, (not too competitive) and have good low-competition keywords. After that, you ideally need to know how to run Ads to your product straight away, in order to get those initial sales and boost your book in the algorithm in that crucial first 30 days. How many books do you have? It's a lot of it is trial and error. I would watch videos etc regarding niche/keyword research and keep creating good quality books. :)

    • @RagsToNiches
      @RagsToNiches  5 месяцев назад +2

      The bid wasn’t too high but I was definitely running at a loss initially to get sales. I think the acos was 80 something percent at first and then I gradually tweaked it overtime. My goal was just to get some initial sales quite quickly - which can be hard to do with no reviews etc but it helps a lot if you have A+ content.

      There are lots of people making money on KDP. The people who are full of it crap are the ones telling you how easy it is to do so... I started back in 2019 and have a lot of experience at this point. I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone - I frequently share my results/tips and a few tutorials and that's it. People can take it or leave it. :). If you get stressed out by the RUclips stuff, it's understandable and it can get way too much. If you're on KDP I would focus on creating books, (if that's what you want to do) and ignore all the noise.
