Looks like you're going to be having many hours of enjoyment from the new lathe Simon. Look forward to seeing your future projects. Regards from the UK 🇬🇧. Geoff
What a fantastic machine, would love to be able to turn something this large someday. Congrats on the new beast in the shop, I'm sure it means lots of new creations! Yuval.
You need to get a coring attachment so you can get more bowls out of the big blanks. Probably make less chips on the floor too. That new lathe is a beauty!
Simon - you scared me good when you went from fast and silent to instantly normal speed and sound. Thought one of those turning accidents was happening. Hate those. I did get my new 18-36 in 220. Had to run out a new service line to the shop but that's OK because I also bought a Laguna 220 band saw. Now, looking at your new one, I like that secondary controller on the right side. I am wondering if I can get one of those for my 18-36 220. Will have to look into that - so thanks for letting me know that exist. Like the bowl too. Will be looking forward to you finishing that. Safe turning Northern Cousin.
A beautiful looking (and working) lathe, and a beautiful rough turned bowl Simon. Will be very interested to see your full review in a couple of weeks. Take care Cheers Mike
Plus the laguna bandsaw!!! You definitely have some awesome tools! I'm looking for a small bandsaw, cutting wood by hand isn't fun 😂... But with the medication I am on I don't like the chop saws, to big of a blade and I like seeing where my hands are lol... Almost had an accident but luckily my brother was there stop me from pulling the handle down! Your kiddo was hilarious in the video! Who doesn't like to smash packing material! Also, your tattoo is an awesome piece of art
If you have the room it's nice having two lathes. Congratulations on the new lathe. I see you have a large Laguna bandsaw as I do. I hate the guides and I can't get it tuned. I'm going to sell it at a garage sale at a big loss. Cheers
Man I love your knew lathe. I'm just getting into wood turning myself. I have restored an old myford ml8 wood lathe. That can be seen on here to. I really think you have come up with something cool by turning those sinks
You never did a follow up on the Laguna 24/36. Is it still the best choice or should you recommend a different one? I'm asking because I'm considering the one you have. Thank you for your videos they are very good. Also what happened to the bowl you did on the lathe?
simon . i just started turning and need some advice on a good hollowing tool. small vases, hollow forms etc. what is the one you are using ....... hamlet. awesome new lathe
+dion Thank you, yes I'm using the hamlet and Henry Taylor little sister hollowing tool. But you will need some practice with them. But they work great.
The video indicates a very strong motor. I am upgrading from a Harbor Freight to the same 24/36 as yours. Among many problems I had with the Harbor Freight was with the motor bogging down. I could only turn small bowls and projects. I purchased the 240 volt model to make sure I got as much power as needed. Is yours the 120 volt or the 240 volt, and did you experience and strain on the motor when turning that large bowl. As always, very fine job. Thanks!
+Stephen Landry hi Stephen, bolth mine are 240v and no a 3hp on 240v nothing can stop this. I turned a 24 inchs bowl yesterday like it was a 4 inches bowl hehe
J est vu ton vidéo avec ton 24 36 laguna et j est aimer la machine. J aimerais à savoir si tu reste au Québec et si je pourrais aller voir fonctionner ton tour.
You need a bowl saver sir. It's painful to watch the beautiful wood turn to shavings. I'm looking at the same lathe. I'm so glad to hear it is working so good. Take care my friend and do a kindness Mark
