Sorry to hear about your experienced with bad contractors. Most of the time, you’re at their mercy. Whenever we thought of a project, we always ask friends and relatives for referrals. That said, the townhouse looks really good. Congratulations!👍🏼❤️

Can’t say the contractor situation is much different here. Really good, honest ones are rare.

Guys, can you give me a ballpark on how much everything costs? At least a rough estimate on how much money I should have to move there, maybe get a slightly bigger place. I got some coins saved up, and I feel like I need to pull the plug before Cebu gets too expensive.

    • @danajadie2469

Hello! The good thing about going to the Philippines is there are cheaper, middle of the road or high end places to buy! From our experiences, land in Cebu is 10,000-15,000 pesos per sqm. You can buy decent houses for 3-5 Million pesos. There are condos around that same price as well depending on the location. Electricity is more expensive than the US, we’re paying around $100-$200 a month. Water is pretty cheap around $10-$20 a month. Good Wifi is $30 a month. I hope this helps!

it's really hard to find honest contractors in the Philippines and it's quite disgusting to learn that you had to deal with them.

You can. Try to befriend a local that you can trust. Networking with locals will go a long way to find a reliable and trustworthy contractors that charge reasonably. These ladies directly negotiated and hired dishonest people who may have been scammers. If you're new to the neighborhood, spend time connecting and building rapport with the locals. Locals will genuinely help and refer you to the right people.

Sadly, they were referred to us by friends. It doesn’t always work out, but yes, I do agree that this is the best approach! We have met some really good and honest people through a local neighborhood contractor.

It is very hard. Even my tita who is a local got scammed 1.5M by her engineer neighbor/friend.
