Wow....That is...the most....detailed, comprehensive, and helpful fish video we have seen in a very long time!We LOVE freshwater fish, and have lots and lots and LOTS at home.We were wondering if you could do a video on Apple Snails? If you haven't heard of them, they are these cute snails that live underwater, and make great additions to freshwater & saltwater aquariums.Even though we have lots of experience, and actually hand breed them, the video on them would be nice!(P.S., we have no idea why our text just went italic)
We'd love to, but the tank was temporary-- for the video only. The fish were re-homed to new aquariums, and the tank has been used on a bunch of other videos since.
Anything Fluval is awesome. Canister filters are the best. Hang on the back is good for budget and space. Sponge filters are good if you will have really small fish or fry in the tank. Under gravel filters are kind of a dying thing, but they do work really well if you aren't going to plant the tank and have fish that dont dig. A "power head" is just a pump. What you pair it with is up to you. Usually under gravel or sponge. Sometimes you just use power heads to get water agitation.

Dont add fish whilst cycling your tank. Maybe a platy... the point of the cycling process is that it will build up the bacteria that tge fish require. Adding a platy might speed up the process but I'd still wait the 2-4 weeks. Also they should all fit, 4 guppies, 3 of them female and 1 male. Uou could add in 2 more female guppies and get another male. Maximum amount of guppies id recommend for a 10 gallon is 12-15.
Question : I noticed you took water from the tank to acclimate the fish. my question is...how do you replenish the small amount of water you took out of the tank? would you just add water with ratio of conditioner back in or just wait a few days before adding more water back in?
You are so funny!!! I love your sense of humor and all the informative and fun videos you make!!! I subscribed to day. So I'll keep on tanking and you making videos!!
Love these videos. I’m just curious you put in 2male sword fish. I know you said to add a few at a time but with 2 males in 20 gallon tank how many females should you add?
what brand of water conditioners and bacterial supplement do you recommend most for people who are beginners in taking care of fish? I'm going to buy everything with my own money but I still want to do lots of research before I do anything that could possibly be harmful. Very helpful videos btw.
so ive been wanting to start a second 20 gal tank with 2 dwarf gouramis, 7 rasboras, and 4 dwarf corys.... most articles ive read say this is ok but i wanted to make sure no fighting would occar. also, is there an ideal order to adding these fish? as to not shock the tank? like should i get the 2 gouramis first or about 4 rasboras first? this will be my first community tank so im uhh sorta nervous...
Hey thanks for your video! Just wanted to doublecheck to see if I did everything correctly. Last night I added 2 very small guppies and 1 swordtail to our 10 gallon tank which already had 3 guppies, 1 Molly and one Platy. I let their bags float in the aquarium for 20 minutes. I then added a little bit of water in each bag every 10 minutes. In fact I had to dump a little water out of the bags so I was able to put more water in. (Next time I will use a small container like you demonstrated). Anyway the two guppies are doing very well but we lost the high fin swordtail today at about 12 noon. I noticed he seemed to be pretty stressed out and was breathing quickly but thought that he would adjust and push through it... we also noticed that one of our small guppies kept pestering him. He was very active in the aquarium store. Do you think I acclamated him too quickly? Was he too stressed by all the other fish? We have all males in our aquarium? What do you think I did incorrectly? Thank you in advance!
I prefer gravel because it gets good bacteria to grow and I don't mind vacuuming it every month. But some people like the ease of bare bottom tanks. Also some fish like digging and burrowing in sand/gravel. The fish you have are ok to not have gravel. Toy might even do better because goldfish are so dirty it would be easier cleanup.
Hi I had a 29 gallon tank and a tank with my betta in it. My 29 gallon tank recently started leaking so I quickly moved my 17 fish to my betta tank and my betta to a bowl. I then went out and bough a 36 gallon tank. I want to put the fish in ASAP because the betta is on a bowl and the tank they are in is pretty small for them. How should I add them into my new tank the fastest? Thanks and great vids
My tank keeps getting cloudy I'm redoing the water and cleaning the filters but as it starts to look good it goes right back to cloudy should I get rid of the rock do they need them I have 3 Oscar's bye the way
If you still have this problem its propably bacterial bloom. Put an air pump or turn the filters output to make waving on surface and disolve more oxygen. I had the same problem and I used the filter method to solve it, in my case it was from medicines. Also keep the weekly changes 25-30% dont redoing the cleaning, you kill the beneficial bacteria and thats why your water gets cloudy.
jesus espinoza 5.5 gallon? Then maybe a betta fish. Or a paradis fish could go. Maybe some nano fish like the ambe tetras. U could maybe fit a small killifish there and upgrade ur tank to a 10 gallon.
Curious, what’s the max amount of fish can I or should I put in my 75 hexagon fish water tank? I have guppies, a bala shark, a sword fish, about 6 tiger barbs and a few others. Think I have close to 20 so far.
I have an established 20 gallon tank with 13 small fish. I want to add a small school but don't want to overload the filter. Can I add half a school at a time? Or would that be too taxing on the fish? I'm thinking of rasboras.
I always use a mix of those 2 methods, I put the bag in my aquarium, then I add a glass of water from my aquarium to the bag after 15 minutes, and then 10 minutes later I put the fish in the aquarium itself
Let's say I just added three swordfin fish in to my freshwater tank, and i want to add a couple of mollies to my tank also. How long should i wait to put more fish into my tank? Thanks!
Only put in up to 2 a week because then your biological filter can adjust to the new fish, and I would quarantine new fish before putting them in with healthy fish.
So, I'm thinking of restarting my completely failed goldfish tank with some tetras and maybe shrimp. If I do the bag floating temp technique does it work well to poke a hole in the bag after a while with a needle so water from the tank slowly works into the bag and to the fish?
The Beast how long have u cycled it? And how many depends on what fish. U could have 20 neons or other schooling fish. 5-6 corydoras or other bottom dwellers. 1 or two centerpeace fish like gourami or a dwarf Cichlid.
that's exactly what i do because i don't have an small heater to keep them at the same temp as main tank for an hour, they would end up boiling😵 just dump out a quarter of bag water and replace with same amount of tank water over 15 min intervals. minimal mess and cleanup.
