- Capcom's merchandising machine was in full flight in the mid 1990s with a bunch of their popular franchises getting toys, comics and cartoon series. Leading the way was Street Fighter.
The Street Fighter cartoon kind of follows the story of the movie, with Guile leading a crack team of martial artists named Street Fighter. It's odd going back and seeing how Guile was positioned as the de facto main character in the US interpretations of Street Fighter, while Ryu, who is generally positioned as the protagonist of the series, takes a back seat.
The show ran for two seasons of about 13 episodes. You can get it on DVD now.

This show was so obvious about its Murica, Ken was better than ryu, Guile was the leader of the team.
Based on the Capcom game Street Fighter II.
The animation was sub-Captain Planet, the story was contrived, and the dialogue was wretched.
While SF fans love to quote the Street Fighter movie ... they are usually less enthusiastic about the Saturday/Sunday morning cartoon.
I didn't know Captain planet show had street fighter characters...!?

They should have also added Retsu, Geki, Joe, Mike, Lee, Gen and Eagle in the Street Fighter animated series.

@@Duvmasta Though to be fair Raul Julia wasn't actually too bad. Campy and over the top yes, but he was having fun, especially regarding the circumstances he was in while filming for the movie.
Like I said, It's so bad it's good.
Why is Zangief evil here too? :(
Remember that in the 90 USA always saw Russia as an enemy and that this show was produced by an american company in that era, that is why Zangief is portrait as a bad character, SF players knows the truth of Zangief, something the producers of this show didn't seemed to know because they NEVER PLAYED THE WHOLE GAME AND SAW ALL THE ENDINGS,
