That’s how I took it when I initially heard the podcast. Like Mecole had seen em during warm-ups & said “yo, this place sucks! Come get me (hahaha).” I certainly didn’t take it like he called both Brett & Pat weeks earlier or anything like that. Also, he’s on a podcast, trying to be interesting & entertaining. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there was some exaggeration of the events going on as well.

@playahdub5287 He played 4 games in the post season, he was targeted 7 times, he had 5 receptions for like 60-70 yards and the superbowl winning touchdown in overtime. He had some big plans that were called back on penalties also. Call him trash all you want, he made a play when it really counted and has done so many times for the Chiefs.

I don't think tampering is necessarily relevant just based on what Mecole said... like, do we have evidence that Veach responded to Mecole reaching out to him before they made that trade? If so, that would be tampering, but we actually don't even know if Veach knew of him reaching out, which may not have happened if Mecole was just saying stuff in that interview.
I watched the full interview. People just mad cause the Chiefs won the Superbowl and Mecole got the winning TD catch. Plus mecole is a jokester
I remember a few years ago that the Cowboys were playing Seattle, and a Mariners player hollered at the Boys that he wanted to play with them, so he shouted "Come get me". Was that tampering? I don't recall the Cowboys losing any draft picks because a Seattle player wanted to be on their team.
Since the Mariners are a baseball team, no that wouldn't be tampering....

as a Jets fan, Brant Boyer is pretty highly respected by the players. Don’t think there’s really any tampering penalties that will come of it. just feels like unnecessary comments when the team gave him what he wanted when it didn’t work out. but what do i know 😂

Like Tactical said, just because Mecole sent a DM or whatever does not imply there was a response. Hopefully, that can be cleared up by KC's front office and the NFL by sharing the behind-the-scenes timeline. But it's the offseason and talking heads need something to blab on about.

We all saw the Jets game footage where Hardman went up to Mahomes. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same happened with Veach. Neither of those should count as tampering in my opinion. Especially since they didn’t even use Hardman at all!!! How can you even get mad that a guy you aren’t using wants to go somewhere to actually play?!?! Jets just gonna Jet right?
To me it sounds like Mecole engaged in a little hyperbole during the interview, nothing more. I also think the Jets are looking to score some extra help in the draft, God knows they need it.

This is a very thin case. If I were Hardman, I’d be forthcoming to the NFL in advance, proving there was no illegal contact between him and the Chiefs. I also think the Jets are manipulating the NFL by saying the comments “resonated” but not clarifying the reason why. I mean, think about it, if the NFL agrees that there was tampering, the Jets could regain that late-round draft pick that they desperately need.
I think the Jets are full of it and want to be relevant.

First I think you did a great job talking through this. I’m a Jets fan and I think first and foremost this is never a story if it isn’t for Mecole running his mouth. The question is why would former teammates believe that his spoke to opponents. If it is true clearly the Jets prior to Mecole podcast were happy to let it go. Now Mecole has gone out of the way to make the organization look bad. This is why now I think they will ask for an investigation and we’ll see what happens. I don’t think it would be much if they do find something. In the end no reason for him to say all that he did.

I'm not passing judgement, but no team or staff are above the rules. There should be an investigation and whether the end result is good for us or bad for us, as long as it's fair then we need to accept it.

the situation is way to minor, the dolphins lost 1 pick from actively talking to the starting qb of a team while hes under contract, mecole was a 7th string wr and had 10 snaps all season up into the trade deadline. At most 2nd 3rd or 4th rounder lost.

Linguistic analysis.
Veach knew Hardman was burried on the roster. That's his job to know underutilized talent wasting away on other teams. That's how he got Butker, remember?
I'm sure in casual conversation, he said he had checked out/ wasn't happy/didn't care.
Now the "Like" means he didn't *SAY* it. He was *thinking* it.

Unless there are texts, phone records, or proof he inappropriately chatted them up at the game, it's a nothing-burger.
People need to understand figures of speech, Mecole is not saying he contacted Veach he meant it as he hoped they would reach out to Jets so he could get out of a bad situation. Veach would not tamper he knows the rules. However if Mecole reached out to a friend and let them know it wasn’t working out they could have told Veach to check it out. My assumption is this is what happened. The Jets are scorned now because their season imploded and there are multiple rumblings about a poorly run organization that lacks focus. To deflect they are looking for scapegoats and Mecole is a good one for them. The accusations that he gave game plans to the Eagles is BS, it clearly didn’t help, one of the better Jets wins of the year. For the Chiefs it didn’t matter either it was a close game but the Jets offense played well, so I don’t think anything happened.

1: a player can speak to anyone they want. Players from different teams, especially former teammates, speak all the time. That’s not tampering.
2: the person in question was not employed by the Chiefs during the supposed incident, and is not employed by the Chiefs at the time of the interview. So not sure what you want the Chiefs to do about an unemployed person speaking on a podcast.
He told Veach and Patrick to go get him, but I have a feeling that him and veach never had a conversation and I bet Patrick was talking to Travis and other players about it but conversation was never made. Now I feel like we see another fan base, complaining, and making assumption. But that’s how I feel about it but at the end of the day we’ll find out.

Seems like everyone is overlooking an important point here…This wasn’t a FA but a player under contract. The two parties could discuss anything they wanted and it would have come to absolutely nothing without the party holding the rights to that player agreeing to let him go…for agreed upon compensation…it’s called a trade. There is no legal standard breached here. This is a huge nothing burger.
Before making all this drama. For it to be tampering.. NFL team has to make contact (call them) with a player under contract with another team. When the Chiefs lost picks, they called Maclin while he was on a golf course. Use Common Sense.. When a players go up to old coaches and say "trade for me"!! What can the team do? That happens all the time. Then Jets put him on the trading block..
