I was a student in Japan for 2 years and I can speak fair Japanese. When I order in a restaurant, even after I order in Japanese, the waitress still gave you goddamn english menu
Hahahahaha it happened to me. Is funny cause you keep just replying in Japanese, but they still try to convey the message in English. I think it is just in case they say a word that you might not understand. Other people instead, you can just see the relief in their faces when you reply in Japanese.

Risu literally doesn't even speak English in this clip, and she demonstrated to the team that she knows enough Japanese to have had the rules explained to her in Japanese. Hachama is a perfect example of passive bilingual, she learn her 2nd language by listening and reading without speaking to a point she able to understand the 2nd language, she knows what to say but her mother tongue prevent her and she embarrass to make a mistake
Also we need to consider Haachama's current environment too - in this case, the festival itself uses JP as main languange and there are only three ID girls, so it is awkward for her to speak English to any of the ID girls with her JP friends around her. Unlike the time she did EN collab with Amelia & Kiara in which no other JP friends around (except Kiara who knows Japanese well, but Haachama knows this), Haachama willingfully speaks EN to approach EN audience.
@@hamanotsubasa Yes, environment plays an important role for language processing, since this is a JP collab, she not mentally prepared for English conversation, her thoughts at the moment are in Japanese and trying to translate into English, during EN collab, her brain already thinking in English so its not that hard for her to speak
