    A technique that you might want to work on when you are learning a Lesson Claypool bass line… you need to practice your palm fretting with both hands, you can hear it on the song with how much you know of the song already, it makes a big difference. Also the minimal hand movement is a technique of his, that’s how you can mimic the subtle pull offs and hammer-ons he’s using throughout the song.

    The best way to match most of the live bass distortion les uses is the line 6 DM4 distortion modeler. I think It’s actually what les uses now and he uses the “jet fuzz” setting for that intro section you’re talking about. Also works amazing for the intro to Eleven. You can also mess with with the other presets and get that old school frizzle fry distortion as well.

    I guess Southbound Pachyderm is a good prerequisite for learning this song. Or vice versa, can't tell which one is harder.

      I was just thinking today about how the songs are similar. Both cruise on that open A. Those are probably the two Primus songs I'll show my friend who's a big Pink Floyd guy.
