I just love your landscapes, Cathleen. That was a good tip regarding the horizon. The fan brush you used to makes “wave crests” is a great idea.
I tried a landscape swipe yesterday and it was beautiful! But then I went in while it was wet and poured a tad more gold on the setting sun - BIG mistake - it sunk down onto my ocean. 😦
When it’s dry, I’ll attempt a do over on that portion only. Live & learn, hahaha…

Really soothingly pretty swipe Cathleen. Yummy colors for sure! I've got to try your flip cup sky. Such a great way to get a sky that reminds you of a perfect day at the beach. I also liked how you kept swiping until each part of your landscape melded into each other...got to give that a go too😄. I always tried to keep them separate. Your landscapes really pull the viewer in...just lovely!😊🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Ony the spilled paint is always gathered up, strained and reused. Nothing is waisted.
Beautiful, you are so very clever with the swiping strips, lifting at the right places, turning the strip to narrow the swipe etc. I have watched most of your videos, your tutorials are well done and very helpful. I also love what you do with a very limited palette.
I have been trying to give illusion of background trees to my swipes, no success so far. I have a tendency to overwork my painting, spoiling the effect I am after.
Gisele trees are fun and easy. I watch painting tutorials all the time on how to paint trees. It’s all about the right brush and consistency of paints
Thanks Kathleen, I need to practice swipes a lot more, learn to lift at the right time. My aim would be so the swipes would almost suggest a forest, then I could add minimal brush strokes to enhance.
