Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

Not being able to submit evidence as a witness not involved in an accident is insane.
lazy police
@@CouchPotator exactly. why they arent happy to index and archive clips might be the stupidest thing they do.
I also came down to the comments to say this. it makes no sense why he could'nt submit evidence.
Theoretically the victim with smashed windshield can sue the city to recover cost of repair if they can't get the truck who lost the wheel to pay for some reason, citing lazy police for hindering the insurance's investigation. If the driver and/or passengers were injured by broken glass, this might be worth a try and it will bring city's attention to police not doing their work.
@@Fan-lq6uv that is one hell mary you just wrote no way it happens
To the guy who got side swiped by the van, don't accept that outcome, it's CLEARLY the van driver's fault and your insurance should sue their company, you should not pay and neither should your insurance. This should go to court and you should get all your money back plus damages. Don't accept criminals telling you they're not responsible, stand up for yourself.
His first mistake was not calling the police on that guy.
@@PureInsanity You don't need the police involved for a civil suite. Honestly you can sue anyone for anything at anytime. You just have to deal with the financial implications of court and attorney fees, and the possibility of financial liability if you file a frivolous lawsuit(at least in some states). This would not be frivolous though, and with the video evidence a good attorney wouldn't even need to go to court to attain a full settlement.
Sounds to me like he might not have insurance or valid license either.
@@shannonlawhorn1674 Actually getting the money is another issue all on its own.
@@bubbagasm1 If he's making payments on the car, he absolutely has to have full coverage insurance. Finance companies will take the car away. Many years ago, when I was 19, I had a brand new pickup I accidentally missed an insurance payment on and my policy was cancelled (rinky dink assigned risk insurance company) and GMAC was up my ass immediately and threatened to repo my truck if I didn't have insurance within 48 hours. Not to mention the fees I had to pay the NYS DMV for the plates for each day I was without insurance.

The "circular metal piece" I'm pretty sure is what you'd call a hubcap.
And the small pieces were the lug nuts, which explains why the wheel took off.

That means the wheel was bound to fall off soon, since the rumble strips were enough to shake the wheel off the hub.
5. Should have called the police and gotten a report. Some companies just don't want to pay out when it is their fault.
There was NO reason to not involve the police, even later on, since he had clear footage. The company should go out of business if they cannot insure their company vehicles, or if they are ultimately insured but play games when called out.
Unless #5 submitter is also unlicensed or undocumented too

Exactly! Especially since the company sent a copy of the policy. I’m not going thru my insurance! I bet a lawyer could have convinced them to pay. If someone is unlicensed & has no insurance, always get a police report!

I called Geico and made a claim just in case her father doesn't pay up. Well, the little lying B---- told them we backed into each other. Her daddy was the CEO (of course I did some internet sleuthing) so you KNOW he made up the story. I got screwed because I had basic liability because I couldn't afford full coverage. I got paid half the amount of the estimate. I ended up watching a bunch of videos on pulling dents and bodywork and fixed it on my own. I had $1200 in my pocket from her insurance. 7:25 maybe next Winter u use WINTER-tyre. And the right speed for snow and ice
Or chains with reduced speed of course, but yeah in Colorado you should replace tires to winter tires. In places like Seattle that question becomes complicated because winter tires are the worst type to drive in the rain, in the winter it rains here more then it snows
I guess her Autopilot didn't tell her that, the more automated cars get the stupidier the driver gets.
Many decades ago, my parents had a house fire and had “that” insurance company for replacement coverage. They fought to not pay for replacement and lost. They also dropped their coverage stating that statistics say if you’ve had one fire, you’ll have another within five years. Another insurance company called to provide coverage saying the “statistics” excuse is how the other company gets back at you for forcing them to cover what you pay for. Also said that statistics actually showed if you’ve had one house fire you’ll NEVER have another, statistically speaking. The cost for the same coverage with the new insurance actually went down because of those statistics. I’m not a Farmer, just State..d facts.
What a weird statistic. Every person I know who has had a house fire, it was a one time thing. Once their whole life. Not 5 years later. Not 20 years later. Once. (Once was too many times, every single one of them still has a little bit of PTSD from it.)

Well Stated... and though you're not a Farmer, We, The People are glad you were Here to post these FACTS!!!
Let SJ’s situation be a lesson. ALWAYS call the police. Even if they don’t respond to the type of accident you had (like many don’t respond to non-injury in a parking lot). You never know when someone is going to change their story after the fact. Even though you may have a dash cam.
In fact, that's one of the critical reasons these dash-cams become so important: Just in case such a situation occurs that somebody tries to falsify an account. That in turn justifies my constant vigilance and admonitions to those OPs who cannot or just do not program their devices correctly and try to excuse it with "date/time incorrect, correct date/time was..." As a retired paralegal, I can tell you that don't that don't fly in court any more than a dodo. It's critical to learn how to program a dash-cam when one installs such a device. If the thing will not permit manual programming and does not display correct date/time, you need a different dash-cam, one that *will* permit manual programming.
8:25 that mindset is one of many reasons why crime is so high & look what happen cause that he had to deal with more bs
Why you should _always_ get the police involved.
The Subaru had no shock absorbers. That is why it flipped. They were completely shot, you could see it in the video on slow mo.
#1 I thought modern vehicles were not supposed to do that. Remember the stories about the Samurais and Explorers and Jeeps,I think it hard to design a high center of gravity vehicle that won't turn over on a level surface if swerved hard at high speed. Particularly a swerve that follows another just as the vehicle tries to settle down. Just about any commercial truck or bus is subject to this if swerved too hard at sufficient speed.
Of course any vehicle can roll over violently with great force if the tires catch rutted grass or shoulder or curb while the car is sliding sideways at highway speeds.

I looked to see if the BMW used his turn signal. Doesn't look like it.
you should NEVER USE AUTOPILOT during rain!! turn on your lights and slow down so you don't hydroplane.
I have used it just fine in rain, set the speed much lower than normal. I couldn't see the lanes at all due to the heavy rain and the autopilot was better than what I could do and I only had to break out of it 1-2x on the 40 min drive.
Why not? If you don't slow down you'll hydroplane when the conditions are right, autopilot or not. Set the speed below ~50 and you should be safe with AP (possibly safer than without, since it seems to be able to see the lane markings better than you can)
To avoid hydroplaning, replace your tires before any of them hit 4/32" of tread, as slow down. Appropriate speed will depend on the amount of water on the road and how much tread is left on your tires. If cars are splashing each other like that, you know there's a lot of water on the road. Once you start hydroplaning you're totally out of control. I agree it's best to drive manually in heavy rain, but I don't see a problem with using Autopilot in light to moderate rain on roads with good drainage.
I use autopilot in the rain for lane assist, especially when visibility is baaaaaad

Every time I've tried to be kind to companies that I ended up with them trying to screw me over and setting it right afterwards is difficult. While once you've 2-4 of their vehicles towed to a lot that you won't release until it's settled, you can bet the money's going to be there in hours at most.

Im old, and i have old cars, and what im seeing is the newer cars rolling over a lot compared to in the 80s and even the 90s. I believe its the top weight of the cars in order to make them safe.
More like the ground clearance, to make them look like they could be used off road, (SUV), and the height, to make them more spacious, with a short overall length. Add that to drivers that don't know what their vehicles will do with sudden changes in direction, and who drive them like they think they are invincible, because they can look down on more sensible cars. Add in the extra weight of all the extra "luxury" options and electric gee-gaws that people like to think makes them "special", and are just a recipe for disaster and CARnage. 🫣
Uh, no. The problem is people started asking for raised SUVs with too much ground clearance. Rollovers have always existed.
Remember the 1997 'baby Benz' rollover crisis recall? The Fiat Panda rolled whenever something more powerful than a far hit it. Same for those idiotic Ram Vans for insecure boys.
I've seen the roll test for the Atto 3 by comparison, it's pretty low to the ground for an SUV and most of the weight is in the bottom, so you're never getting that flipped.
@@SanderSA-ny3lh Don't recall any of those models you mentioned, imported into the US. Unless you're referring to the Smart car, as the baby Benz, which wasn't sold here under the Mercedes Benz name. And was sold in such small quantities, it wouldn't have even registered, in any accident studies. We have Mercedes vans Rebadged as Ram vans, and smaller Ram vans, to compete with the Ford Transit Connect, but I neither know, or care, of their origin (ask Stellantis). Any Vehicle, will roll over if it's sliding sideways, and hits a curb, or the wheel rims dig into the ground. But the center of Gravity, is important, both for keeping control, and whether it will roll over, when not controlled properly. Don't make me write a book about it, other people already have.
speaking on the moose test. runny enough most cars can no longer get good scores in crash tests. because cars are so much taller and the center of mass is higher most cars are failing the NTSB's tests for impacts as cross overs and suv's have taken over the market and the impacts are much higher then they used to be 15ish odd years ago. maybe more or less, i dont keep up with the study. it was just something i read in passing

Story #9. Australian eucalypt trees, of which there are over 600 varieties, are notorious for dropping branches, or falling over, without any warning. It's best to avoid parking under them, if possible, but with our hot summer sun, it's necessary unless you want to be burnt to a crisp when you enter the car. It's not unusual for the inside of the car to reach over 130°F on a hot day.
Yes, and they also go up like wax candles in a fire, which is why I do not understand Aus councils forbidding you to cut down those near your house in a fire area. After all a firebreak near the house is exactly the thing needed to keep your house from burning down, though i guess the councils make money from the demolition permits and the rebuild ones as well, plus can charge increased tax on the "new build".

The whole process after a crash in the US sounds overly complicated. If there is a crash in Australia, you only need to call the police if someone has been injured. The drivers swap information and each contacts their insurance companies and the insurance companies sort out who is at fault. If one driver is uninsured, the other drivers insurance company will pay for the repairs and sort out getting paid back themselves. You don't have to worry about all that.
You just described how it works in the USA too...
same in Europe
@@markbeiserdead ass lmfao
Unfortunately this works only if all the drivers involved had license and insurance to exchange. Too often people are driving without insurance to save some money, which forced insurance companies to raise other driver's premiums. And also too easy for unlicensed driver to drive.
The pandemic has made things worse with most police not even checking if the car has valid insurance.
@@markbeiserThough there isn’t any bullshit about being deemed partially at fault * & only receiving a % of the repair cost. * Worst that can happen is it can’t be determined who was at fault & both drivers pay the excess (deductible) when making a claim on their insurer.
The contract to repair one’s car is with one’s insurer. They are responsible for repairing the car or paying it out - no one else. The payout amount is either agreed or market value. So there is no risk of being low balled in a take it now or spend months in court suing for the right value payout by the at fault driver’s insurance company.
If the insurance company can’t** get their money repaid by an identified uninsured driver, they wear the loss. ** Insurance companies in Aust are tenacious in chasing down owed money.

That first crash was primarily caused by the brain dead suspension set up that Subaru uses only in N. America; the suspension configuration used by the Legacy in the rest of the world was derived from the tuning Bilstein and Porsche did for Subaru when they raced the Legacy RS in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The NA suspension set up is way too soft and doesn't have enough anti-roll; but American consumers largely like their suspension too soft which results in rolling the car under heavy direction change (if you watch the alignment of the wheels prior to the crash you can see massive travel, massive camber, and finally the cross-up leading to the roll over), which is very common in what the aerospace industry calls Pilot Induced Oscillation (i.e. driver overcorrections leading to massive oscillation and combined with soft suspension leads to a roll over rather than a spin out). It's a case of engineers being overridden by marketing.
