this is the first time I've seen him win 😭 what other tournaments has kurama beat AK? I would like to know so i can watch the sets thanks@@omarhasan03
So ak won the first set last year than this year kurama took one off stream at crown and then here so it’s 2-1 but ya still dope to see kurama do well feels like he hasn’t been at his peak last few months
FYI, Snake’s down throw has the same frame advantage on all characters. He’s +3 (jab is f3) at 110%, he’s +4 (f-tilt is f4) at 126%, and he’s +6 (up-tilt is f6) at 160%. All %’s measured by before the d-throw (after pummels), not after. So in game 2 stock 1 the down throw f-tilt was true.
that dthrow ftilt was actually a special case. Snake’s ftilt doesn’t hit Mario after dthrow on its first active frame, Mario low profiles it. You can verify this in training room frame by frame or with the Snake dthrow confirms chart. The second frame (occurring on frame 5) does hit. This means Mario needs to be at 142% for Snake to be +5 on dthrow and for Mario to be hit by dthrow ftilt. there’s a very specific spacing near the ledge where the startup of Snake’s ftilt hurtbox shifts the opponent off of the stage which puts them airborne. Since they’re in the air, they have no frame 1 escape so the ftilt hit becomes true even on characters that would typically low profile ftilt. This is what happened in the game. I’m not sure if this starts being true when Snake is +3 or when he’s +4 at 108% or 126% though.
Wrong, it actually has a bit more frame advantage on Bowser Jr. because of the way his hurtbox mechanic works, so he can do jab/ftilt/utilt a single % earlier than what he normally would
@@willycheez7218 Ah I didn’t consider Jr, that makes sense. Throws use his body stats, not the car stats. So less weight and extra damage. Is that enough to also get a higher maximum frame advantage? I know it caps at (I think 6 frames at 160%) so I wonder if Jr gets to 7, or if he just gets to the 6 frame cap earlier?
I truly find snake the most annoying character to play against. I bet in AK played any other character, he would get smoked. Tho I guess it's a good match up for players.
I agree. Snake is difficult to play but also difficult to fight against, and AK isnt "the one" tho hes really good. I fear that a fully optimized Snake could be a top 5 or even top 3 character.
@@JohnDPearson90"it's really mentally taxing to not interact and camp out your opponents so hard" lmfao Good Snake players being very good at actively not playing Smash does not make me respect them
@@ragames7320how is AK not a fully optimized Snake? Give the man more credit than being pretty good. He's beaten top players like Light, MKleo, Glutto, Kurama, ESAM, etc.. where no other Snakes have.
Watch the Throne 2023 is still live! Check it out here: "www.twitch.tv/vgbootcamp"
AK has a history of slaying mario players, and he has great experience in this MU which makes Kuramas win even more impressive.
This isn't exactly true. Kurama has beaten AK a couple times now. This isn't a surprising outcome. They are pretty evenly matched.
That literally doesn’t take away how experienced ak is with mario
this is the first time I've seen him win 😭

@@omarhasan03yeah I'm curious too because I can't remember it either
And I follow almost every bit tournament

Kurama is just phenomenal.
Great set from both players
More like prodigal 😂

@@quantum6637 Not sure if the frame advantage can go any higher, I just know he reaches jab/ftilt/utilt range a single % faster lol
Kurama is so good at this game. Id call him a Prodigy
I prefer the name Prodigy
9:35 the Coney “Yahoo” for Mario is my favorite thing in smash commentary. I have faith in my boy Kurama the god.
Watching Apollokage is always a treat.
I know! He is pretty cute too!
I can't help but be happy about that one after AK prevented Zomba from qualifying!
14:40 caught me off guard NGL
FYI, I'm 90% sure, Snake gets his cypher back when hit with Mario's cape. So he should be able to up b again.
Goated commentary
we love you too production
in genuine awe at kurama

You should try to play snake and see how easy it is. Snake is one of the hardest characters to play and mentally taxing.

Only good thing about zoners are there’s always a chance to win even with the worst matchup
