All pro athletes used some form of speed in 30's, 40's and 50's (it made them faster and more focused). Pro Baseball was the most popular, they called them "greenies" due to their color. Back in the 30's till the late 50's in baseball they had a water cooler in the dugout and ANOTHER water cooler spiked with "Greenies" and it was a quick "Pick me up".
It was legal back then to due so. Then the 60's thru the 80's was Cocaine, and then the 90's thru the 2000's it was steroid's.

The malmedy massacre and the wereth 11 ( black GI'S WHO WERE SEPERATED FROM THEIR UNIT ) were murdered by the ss, and some of my grand uncle's trophy clothing, that being uniform eagles and ss collar patches, had blood on them when he brought them back. Everyone was so fucked up on speed that they couldn’t help but to support the leaders who were making it all possible. If the soldiers were using this shit daily it explains why at the beginning they were able to make the headway they did and also why towards the end the decision making and spirit were so low. A human body can only take soo much before it decides its had enough and starts to shut down. You give that much speed to anyone and they would be able to walk 60km a day without thinking twice. But after going through day after day after day of that their bodies and minds were exhausted. It’s why those making the tough decisions started to make mistake after mistake in the planning and execution. Ever heard of the Opium War? Drugs have been a problem since the conception of pharmaceuticals. Increased understanding of drugs and addiction has made synthetic drugs more potent and addictive than anything before it. While less potent natural substances may be viable for responsible recreational consumption, synthetic substances have proven to be far too dangerous.
So while the inclusion of natural substances that are unlikely to cause addiction was a mistake of the drug war and there were many missteps throughout the drug war, that doesn’t mean that the entire purpose of the war was ill-advised.
Perhaps instead of prohibiting substances the government should’ve tightly regulated its use to minimize risk of abuse and addiction. The biggest problem is that we didn’t understand drugs enough to tell the good from the bad in many cases. We reacted the same way anyone would have when faced with something unknown and potentially highly dangerous. Turns out that wasn’t the correct approach and that course of action has fueled crime syndicates ever since.
Personally, I’d vouch for extensive research into each substance before deregulation. Once the substances are more fully understood (Yes we have lots of anecdotal evidence but not a lot of scientific evidence), then consider deregulation. Addictive and/or dangerous substances should be tightly regulated but not necessarily completely prohibited, and non-addictive substances that don’t pose a threat to the person or society may be legalized recreationally.

It's difficult to get accurate data about this subject in the United States, but the simple fact is the United States Navy anyway was running on benzedrine ever since the compound was found to produce the "pep pill" effect (the dose obtained from a few inhalations of a Benzedrine inhaler are usually not enough to cause overstimulation, there is however anecdotal evidence of soldiers breaking up with the containers and dumping about 10 or 15 inhalers into a battalions coffee cauldron. A battalion is about 500 men and therefore, the dose wouldn't be huge but it would be enough to keep the troops moving around and in a good mood.). This is of course the general improvement of mood, lessening of appetite, and non-compensatory wakefulness. This makes amphetamines different from a stimulant like caffeine, where if you stay awake half the night doing work, using caffeine to stay awake will help you to stay awake but you will still need about the same amount of sleep. Amphetamines eliminate this biological safety valve.
Although you will find almost no one willing to admit it and ABSOLUTELY no one in a position of so-called authority lol, amphetamines were non-medically used extensively both during World War II and after World War ii. Does anybody ever remember seeing a picture of Frank Sinatra from during the war? The man is a literal broomstick.
Same thing happened to admiral William "Bull" Halsey, except to go along with the extreme thinness, his skin started to melt off. Physicians had to give him a mandatory leave of absence to go to hospital to get his condition corrected.
The intelligence officer who was instrumental in breaking the Japanese code in the Pacific was a heavy amphetamine user. It was said of lieutenant Rochefort, give him a pot of coffee and a bottle of pills and he can break any code.
The job of repairing the aircraft carrier Yorktown, damaged heavily during the Battle of Coral Sea in the Southwest pacific, was estimated by seasoned Pearl harbor repair specialists to take 6 weeks at least. It was done in two and a half days, of course it wasn't in the same condition in which the ship was built however it could still carry as many planes and it could still maintain 32 knots. So that could be one of the best amphetamine mottos, "the difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer."
There are many anecdotal stories in the United States Army about the use of mainly benzedrine, but one of the major sagas that is always written between the lines is Lt General George Patton's 3rd army. Patton was as famous for getting 40 mile a day marches out of his troops as any German general, his armored formations had an uncannily similar description of blitzkrieg advances to the German armored formations, and feats like turning the direction of 45,000 men, in a moving sea of 300,000 men, 90° and KEEP GOING simply cannot be adequately understood by anyone who isn't familiar with the problem, but it takes intricate control, masterful manipulation and an extreme attention over at least 10 hours that does not waiver at all. But I'm not talking about just General Patton, his troops were also heavily laced with this stuff and performed basically with cold instant coffee, a meal consisting of a chocolate bar or a C-rat biscuit, and no sleep for about 48 hours.
Then there are the negative effects. The United States Army was never up against it so horribly as the Germans had it at Stalingrad. There, young troops were just dying for no apparent reason, they were in good spirits, apparently good health, but they were only getting 600 or 1000 calories a day at best. They of course made the same stupid mistake that a lot of people even today make in thinking that amphetamines somehow produce energy or cause energy, and that they can actually replace sleep and food.
The matter of sleep is still conjecture, but the conclusive verdict was that you simply cannot expect soldiers to perform the duties of soldiers with amphetamines replacing nutrition and sleep; you can't ignore the realities of logistics. But as long as a person uses these compounds with restraint n DOES eat n sleep, they can avoid the horror-stories of an admiral who has such bad dermatosis that his skin is literally coming off, or a couple of idiots who are so high on meth that they don't even know what they're doing going out and cruising in their car in the middle of a snowstorm and not surprisingly come to a bad end.

    • @ericbooth3393
      @ericbooth3393 3 года назад +20

There’s probably some truth to that, but the Wehrmacht was clearly capable of destroying the encircled army at Dunkirk. Hitler refused to order the attack because he had still hoped that an armistice and eventual alliance between the two Aryan nations (Germany and Britain) would be possible. Not destroying the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk was one of if not the single biggest blunder he chose to make in the war, ironically because it may have been the only way Britain would have agreed to peace, having no army to defend itself. Many of those men went off to fight Rommel and the Vichy French in North Africa and the Middle East.

Refined Amphetamine Salts were one of the greatest utilized and worst abused substances in history.
In combat it allowed soldiers to stay awake days on end with reduced or absent hunger. The nootropic effects were only second to pure nicotine. Soldiers could operate and think clearly while engaging the enemy for hours on end, with a calming or euphoric effect.
Taking above 80mg within a stretch of a few days leads to an increase in tolerance, requiring more to feel the effects. The withdrawls could range from minor to extreme with depression and suicidal tendencies in some cases.
The side effects were just as great with hallucinations, mania, irrational aggression, and paranoia being prominent, with long term abuse leading to heart and cardiovascular illnesses and nervous system damage later in life.
