I like this video. I like your rankings and find that getting ranking from locals who play there a lot have a much better review of the course than someone who played once or twice. A nice ranking. I have played 8 of the 10. I like Glen Dornoch and King's North as well. Happy Holidays!!
I just got the MB golf passport and played Thistle for $40. Had a 430 PM tee time and pretty much had all 18 holes to myself (Stewart and Cameron) I haven't played the real expensive courses in the area, but so far Thistle ranks #1 compared to Legends courses and Big Cats at Ocean Ridge....it's not even fair to compare them to Thistle. It was easily the most pristine and well manicured course i've played here
@@bigbrytunney8753 yeah Thistle is indeed very good & heck yeah that’s a great deal! I might have to do the same for my round out there. I use the Passport card, too
You play Caledonia for the scenery as much as anything else. There are a couple of hokie holes but it would still be in my top 10 . I was golf director for the largest golf & resort group in Myrtle Beach for years and played over 100 courses . Some were torn up for real estate development. In no particular order regardless of price and not only based on layout but ambience and the total experience of playing 10 rounds of golf if I were playing .. TPCM , Caledonia, Grande Dunes Resort , Pine Lakes ( first course in Myrtle Beach) Tidewater, Dunes Club, King's North, Barefoot Fazio, Barefoot Dye and World Tour. Others to consider.. Heritage, Long Bay, Glen Dornoch , Oyster Bay, True Blue and a few others.
The Surf Club is a tremendous layout with superb greens. Its private but they do allow public play at limited times. A real sleeper, go play. My favorites in M.B. are Tidewater, Heritage Club, Avocet at Wild Wing, Grande Dunes, Barefoot Landing (play the Fazio) & Arrowhead
I’ve played there a time or two, very good. Left them off the list as I’ve heard they’re going 100% private. Could be wrong. Great list of courses! Always have wild wing in my handful of best
I'm going to MB in a month. I'm gonna play TPC, and Prestwick. I'm looking for a 3rd course not far from camping, i'm considering Legends and/or Arrowhead or i should go with tidewater ?
@@Nekya legends are good but could be a lengthy round. Always jammed. Tidewater very good but could be pricey. Arrowhead not my cup of tea but many like them
I’m going to be in Myrtle Beach in about a month with friends to golf as much as we can. One of the courses we are playing is The Wizard. Friends of mine said they played at Man-O-War last year, they said the greens were almost unplayable. Since The Wizard is a sister course I was wondering if you have a report on the conditions there. Thanks
@@brianlardin9404 Thanks for the info. We played the Wizard on April 8 during the eclipse. It was in great shape, the greens were smooth and true, had a great time, we really enjoyed it. I hope we put it on our list again next year.
Caledonia is VASTLY overrated imo. Couldnt agree more. Outside of the drive in...its nothing special. Have a condo down in myrtle and have always said its an overrated track.
For sure. It was Strantz’ first ever course. He only learned & got better from that point. Tobacco Road is one of my all time faves. Caledonia not worth the $$$ IMO
@@ParkerPlaysGolfAgreed. I’m up by Tidewater and love that course. A few others I’m looking to play this season. Trying to get out to a few of the other courses you don’t hear much about like Meadowlands, River Hills, Shaftesbury.
@@ParkerPlaysGolfjust want to see a few different places. Liked Thistle…want to get to Prestwick this year as well. Also enjoy Rivers Edge and think Wild Wing is underrated.
@@travismcgrath5430 yeah no doubt. I’m trying to film at every course in the next 1.5 years. Wild wing always makes my list of fave courses in the area. Real fun course!
It was in such poor shape Nicklaus told them to remove his name. They hired Nicklaus and he changed a lot of fairways and removed bunkers. It is supposedly better, we will be playing in October 2024. The last time we played was in 2022 and it was in terrible shape, almost unplayable. Their irrigation system was shot.

@@PJGGolfer appreciate that! In my eyes it is definitely accurate lol…. Kings North has a cool hole for sure but overrated besides that in my opinion
I would put Thistle in the top 3. 27 holes, always in immaculate condition, best carts in MB and a beautiful clubhouse.
I could see that being in some people’s top 3 for sure! All accurate statements

Man O War greens are pristine right now. They had a pia problem last year and scalped them in the off-season but they were fine in late June.

Useful and honest review 👌 For locals, like me, and tourists. We had 100 courses 10 years ago. We are down to 84? PPI

Hell yeah. Great course!!
I really liked Glen Dornoch, Tidewater, Thistle. Playing Prestwick, BF Dye course, & Rivers Edge next month.
I don't agree with your number 1. Isn't it a members only course? I would definitely have Heritage on mine. Great course.
No they allow package play through a few different providers a few days a week…I like Heritage as well. Just outside my top 10
Agree with your ratings. I would toss Heritage on there with Trueblue.

Pawleys shit hole new greens rock hard, fairways scruff don’t waste your money 💰
