THANK YOU for uploading with Emet- Selch’s voice over
Edit: and adding that part at the end, nice touch
0:41 "Just as prayer gives rise to Primals...our dread made manifest our deepest fears."
It just hits different now.
Such devastation.... This was not their intention 😔 😔 😔 😔
Amri Mazlan Ah Gaius
I don't know why I laughed at this xd I feel sorry
How very glib…
How could you-
That sums up most events in ffxiv
Remember... Remember us...... Remember that we once lived.
Makes me cry every single time...😢💔
T _ T
1:03 That's the voice of one who is recalling an event that was truly terrifying. I can imagine him running through the streets, mad with grief and panic (the kind one feels when everything has gone wrong and none of your efforts to fix it are working) as everything and everyone he loved literally went to Hell before his very eyes. Wonderful voice acting.
I personally feel it could've used some more takes, not because of the sentiment on it, mind you, but because it sounds like he's assimilated it... too well to be doing a genocide just to get it back.
I love how his voice actually breaks as he starts to speak, like he's really struggling to even talk about it
And now we can see the true emotion…
You. Just got me right now. This. Now I’m tearing up. Because I know exactly what you mean. Xoxo
And lo, vile beasts did rise, leaving naught in their wake but blood and ash. Thus did the first doom befall us.
It would not, however prove the last.
For soon did the sun bend low, scorching earth and boiling seas. Thus did the second doom break us.
Yet it was neither claw nor flame, but our very sins--
Stacked to the heavens where they took root, corrupting its halls--
Thus did the third doom undo us.
--"Amaurot", Emet-Selch
I just noticed the parallel between "And lo, vile beasts did rise, leaving naught in their wake but blood and ash." and Urianger's line "Thus did the avatar of destruction descend, leaving naught in her wake but tears and ash" from the 5.3 ending. That just makes that line so much better.
We are basically and literally experiencing first hand Emit's PTSD induced memory and he's narrating it....
Let that sink in your head.
What a crazy way to go. To become so powerful that you can literally bring concepts into reality and then to have that very power turn on you and rain fire and monsters from the sky.
Coming back to this dungeon with Emet’s dialogue..after Endwalker? Hits different and hits harder
The way that this dungeon used the area names as extra narration was really unexpected.
I was not ready for this dungeon.
Its been 3 days now and it still feels like someone just broke my heart.
Ikr I only tackled this yesterday and it's just constantly sat in my head. So tragic.
It's OK. You are NEVER ready for this.
Then I get the feeling you are absolutely NOT ready for what’s going down in Endwalker
@@Twocoolman115 I am probably not, but we are in this together!
@@Lunoatic To The Very End!
This dungeon is my absolute favorite. I always get so hyped when running it.
Good job I ran it with the Trust system because I spent so much time just taking in the tragic atmosphere and fighting back the tears.
@@bainbonicSame. I finished Shadowbringers and Endwalker recently and I was crying throughout this dungeon. And afterwards, I remember just sitting with my head down and quietly crying just thinking about it.
One of the best songs in the game, which is saying a lot. With Emet Selch's dialogue just makes this so memorable, brings chills to my spine, it's masterfully done, simple as that.
"Welcome to the final days of Amaurot.
The fabric of our star began to fray and the unchecked energies of creation begat malformed beasts.
Just as prayer gives rise to primals, our dread made manifest our deepest fears.
The land buckled, the cities burned, the waters ran red with blood. Yet this was far from the worst of it, come and I will show you.
Just a little further and you will see the end of a world.
The star was fading, we saw we had to weave its laws anew, but between us and our goal loomed a final misbegotten fiend.
Remember, remember us. Remember that we once lived..."
Emet's VA is one of a kind and I cannot imagine him without it. Such an amazing actor. There will never be a character I'll love more than Emet. I also gonna go cry now, as seeing this video got me all depressed and sentimental again, god dammit TwT Thank you for the hard feels
Best dungeon in the game.
until the next big story dungeon comes out
I think Square have created their magnum opus of antagonists
The writers are exceptional
he's pretty awesome, though I am surprised that I don't see more people mention that he seems to have been heavily inspired by Solus from Dragon Age: Inquisition, even including the fact that Solus is one of his aliases.
The writer for Shadowbringers is Natsuko Ishikawa. She got that roll by flexing her incredible writing prowess on the Dark Knight storyline.
I was only expecting the dungeon quotes, which were already taking me on a feels trip, then you snuck that final line in there. Throw wide the floodgates, I guess /shrug
I'm going to be very sad when this dungeon is no longer part of the expert dungeon rotation.
You can still run it on the Trust System those if you've leveled the AI's up to max
hi from that very point in time
@@iceclkeyheart3060 At least we got a level 80 dungeon roulette x3
This is what you call an artistic masterpiece. Excellent voice acting on top of a dungeon-running background, and also the fact that it's all about evil and destruction and showing you poetic symbolism through each fight as you go through each part. Plus, masterful weaving of the amazing soundtrack.
Beautiful and yet so tragic
3:16 blew me away. Only got this far a few days ago. So glad i used NPC's instead so i could take mt time to take it all in.
Joseph Joestar I did it with players and got no help on what bosses did and didn’t get to take this dungeon in
I want Emet to come back. 😢
This aged nicely
Thank you for this! Oh wow, I can't stop crying.
"... Just a little further: And you will see the end of a world."
-2020
The lines uninterupted, hovering like a final omen.
As players stopped their path as the darkness faded and just.... Looked.
I loved those words so much when I did it first time.
What I loved about ShB is that by the time the final battle came, I didn't want to fight him.
I sympathize for Emet-Selch. HE just wanted the Rejoining....to get this back.....his world...his people....it's so sad...so...so...sad.
You can't build a utopia on a mountain of trillions of corpses. Additionally, those Amaurotians who rebelled did so because Zodiark, hungry for more power, wanted the Convocation to sacrifice those beings that didn't have the immortality or creation magicks of the Amaurotians. While sympathetic, Emet-Selch was going to make the sacrifice of those who willingly gave their lives in vain. They didn't sacrifice themselves so that more death and destruction would happen in their name or for their sake. And that's something Emet-Selch just... didn't understand.
@The Great Dragon Gamer I felt Emet's motives were actually lifted in a large part from one of the previous FF antagonists. Both of them were trying to save their deceased kin/people through the best means available to them, both of their means involving fusing worlds and sacrificing a lot of other people in the process. Both also resided in a place populated by facsimiles of the world's previous inhabitants created by the antagonist. They both also have a relatively close past relationship with the protagonist. The personalities differ though.
The Great Dragon Gamer ff9 :)
@The Great Dragon Gamer Yeah, as Xerinthe pointed out, it's Final Fantasy 9. I won't spoil anything other than that though, as the journey of the game is amazing in itself, with all of the subplots and story of each individual character. It was done in an amazing way, and I feel you would, if you enjoyed the story of this expansion, you'd absolutely LOVE Final Fantasy 9.
Hell, another thing they borrowed from 9 was the song for the Dancer class quest when you unlock the quest and do the Duty to perform in Costa Del Sol.
Emet-Selch did nothing wrong
thank you so much for putting this together!! i'm not tearing up, you're tearing up
Truly a beautiful combination you've made in this video. The audio quality and cuts were great.
I want Emet selch speaking at my funeral
At 2:17 I was like: two tanks? Is this unsynced? then realized it was esteem lol
If you enter with a full party, the game ignore roles requisite.
beautiful creation- thank you for putting this together.
It feels a lot more nostalgic listening to it with voice. I still love the theme without his voice but god listening to it with his voice is even better. Rip Emet-Selch
Ngl, this was probably the scariest theme park ride I've ever been on
The final days were upon us. The fragment of the star had begun to fray its lands rent by tooth and claw.
Why do I come here at least once a day to hear this guys voice and music, Plus I love that bass drop before the piano chimes in at 0:40
SAME the bass drop is soo good
Thank u for this.. I needed to hear the narration again.
This is literally what we're gonna experience in endwalker and emets gonna watch
I wonder if he's really gone? There's the shoebill theory rumbling about. Remember that shoebill that popped up randomly in the most ridiculous places (including in our room in the Crystarium and under the sea in the Tempest?) There's a theory that that shoebill is Emet-Selch himself watching us, or else a familiar he created to do the same. I think if that shoebill is actually him, he may be keeping an eye on us and be able to help on the same sort of way he helped us against Elidibus in his trial should we need it.
@@ClockworkCouture. The Devs will neither confirm nor deny that Emit-Selch is actually dead.
Side notes: After you "kill" him in his trial and he's talking to you, for the first time he's standing up straight like his burden is gone; also, the sundered soul inside you was his best friend before the Ascian world was destroyed. If he is alive somewhere in the Rift he'll have a vested interest in you and remerging your soul.
@@Kag001 Let's not forget that he manifested later on inour time of need as well in Seat of Sacrifice. No way he'd be able to do that if his soul wasn't out there wandering when we called out.
@@Kag001 he ded.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't listen to this without emit
Omg did this for the first time…. Cried so hard …. Watched this like 20 times…. Thank you 🥺
"Remember, Remember Us, Remember that we once lived"😥😥😥😥 < That hits you right in the feels, so emotional.
Ayo who tf is cutting onions in here?
FFXIV Amaurot, but podcast form.
This theme just hits so well after you've already been getting into the melody with zone music a few hours working up to this. Kind of basic mechanics aside no other dungeon in this game or any mmo comes close to the atmosphere.
The last 10 seconds got me, not gonna lie.
The first beast was literal nightmare fuel
i needed more of Emet.
I've not played too many FF games but goddamn did this entire final bit remind me of Ardyn's tragedy in FFXV.
Best dungeon i ever did in ffxiv. Narration is 10/10
Amaurot is the pinnacle of MMO storytelling; incredible visuals, music, and narrative. An absolutely captivating experience, and how many people just stopped and stared once you arrive at the final arenas - overlooking the world approaching its inevitable ruin?
The final boss was giving me Barthandelus vibes.
Peak storytelling/gameplay experience. Still my #1 moment of FFXIV, the whole damn dungeon.
even in endwalker, this dungeon I always enjoy going back to, to hear emet's narration and the damn good music.
Thanks!
Chills. Just chills.
That’s ok I just gonna continually cry and watch this don’t mind me lol
I love this
Really nice editing on this. Thanks for making it. I love Emet-Selch's narration in this utterly horrible bit of the story.
I listen to this daily 😅
Who would have trought that this Dungeon was just a big teaser.
Sums up 2020 pretty well.
The Shadowbringers dungeons are the best so far IMO, as lightbringers and the apocalypse just carry a weight, an atmosphere and importance for the world and story that most other dungeons don't have. Even the 10th time fighting the same lightbringer it feels like an achievement... and now think of pirates, mute dragons or soldiers. XD
Edit: Learned the other day that the bosses I talk about are called "Lightwardens" in the English version. "Lightbringer" is the direct translation of the German word "Lichtbringer", which - fun fact - also describes Lucifer, the mythological fallen angel, and the hero from Dragon Quest XI.
I have no reason to re-run this dungeon. It rewards nothing. But ima bout to re-run it
You can get the shoebill minion from it apparently XD
Shadowbringers>>>>>>>>battle for azeroth
Battle for Azeroth annoys me because there was no battle for Azeroth in it! Just a battle against fish people! Come on!
At least Shadowbringers delivered waaaaaaaay better than expected, and that's coming from somebody who's loved the game since HW.
@@bainbonic i cannot agree more, faliure of azeroth is tedious, boring and no inspiration
Bold of you to believe Azaroth compares to any part of FFXIV
As someone who has experienced battle for Azeroth in its entirety I can safely and easily say that you are right. Wow is soulless and without emotion opting instead to be not unlike a comic book with rule of cool. Shadowbringers has had more soul in its body than the entirety of wow.
is this even a question? ARR is better than any WoW expansion ever made.
Wow!
I felt so awful going through this dungeon, knowing all I was looking at was a memory of the past and nothing I did would help any of the Amaurotines I passed. I never liked Emet to begin with (I had an overwhelming urge to slap him whenever he spoke) but this dungeon made me feel a little for him. This must have been absolutely traumatic to live through, and the fact he can remember it so well when the mind tends to blot out most traumatic experiences unless they're extremely so is testament to just how traumatic it really was, and how strong he's had to be to carry that much weight around with him for millenia.
After running this dungeon, this hits so mmuch differently...
And yes, I have done this one!
I just finished Shadowbringers a few weeks ago and for a few days, I'd listen to this song and just sit there and quietly cry. Saddest dungeon so far for me.
Reminds me of Ardyn taunting over the intercom, except more impactful and yet terribly beautiful. Solus is one of the greatest villains of all time, made better on how unexpected it was.
I almost forgot that he went by Solus as the first emperor. Solus, a name that means alone in one language and light in another, and sounds like star in a third. Solus, Emet-Selch, Hades, the lonely starlight, the angel of truth, the lord of the underworld, he sure does love his titles.
Ardyn is motivated purely from spite as he was not the chosen king he thought he was going to be and was willing to forsake the entire world and humanity in response. Emet on the other hand is motivated by the loss of his friends, his family, his entire world and his benevolent god and is willing to reclaim the past world for his people at the cost of the subsequent stars created when his world ended and Zodiark was sundered by Hydaelyn. Can't really compare the 2.
@@Andrew___P If you think about it, Emet is more like Noctis than Ardyn. He lost his home, his family and his people to death and destruction, took on a long winding journey to set things to rights by summoning numerous gods to purge the darkness and chaos left behind, then even died sacrificing himself for his beliefs to bring about the needed catalyst for change.
thanks i needed the duty name drop for a dumb meme i wanted to make
Maybe Earth will end just like that one day. Fire, destruction and monsters.
Yes, but this time mankind will be the monsters.
the Foreshadowing is Crazy
If this song had lyrics, I'd imagine at 0:50 they would go: "May we not for-get our past mi-stakes" along with that piano. Haha I'm weird
I just realized something....
YOU UPLOADED THIS *5 DAYS* AFTER SHADOWBRINGERS DROPED?!?!?!
HOW FAST WERE YOU RUNNING?
2:05
Just a little further: And you will see the end of a world 😭
asmr
I've seen some on Reddit and elsewhere saying that certain Endwalker events don't match Emet's descriptions should really watch the first few minutes of this and his description of how it started.
Remember us.
Great work. Now do The Dead Ends with Meteion's narration, if you please.
ruclips.net/video/MG-d8ohKB1I/видео.html
It sounds like a NatGeo documentary LOL
This dungeon gave me chills that only good Anime gives me.
0:46 to 1:00......... Really hits me.
Minor spoilers: The real irony. In Shadowbringers, you felt the Ascians kinda had a point. Then in Endwalker you find out they were 100% wrong. Had the Ascians gone through with their plan, they would doomed the world for sure.
listen to his words closely. its a clear warning of what will happen if you fall to despair or hatred. never give in and fight to the end. so that way when you meet your friends in the after life you can mile with pride. answer together.
Bastard. Timing Emet's famous quote with the peak of the song. So cruel! 😭
The female vocals in the background are chilling, like someone wailing in pain 😢
Just beat this dungeon for the first time... the tone at 0:40 is just.. Emet you did nothing wrong my boy... but this is the way it has to be.
Welcome to the 30th annual king of the ring tournament XD
0:17 oh shit this was in the endwalker trailer, we are getting amaurot 2.0
Time for Endwalker!
Oh man how I would wish me that with the German Voice
besides the audio. never tank.
Just like an interactive documentary. This time - on how the Amauronites/pre-ascians screwed up.
Nah, more how the selfish created a monster that ruined the world for EVERYONE.
How can someone ruin the world when it was already ending
RasnerGaming I would say that what they were doing was not de-esculating the situation of the star, but they were kind of panicing - which led to the summoning of abominations - which, therefore likely contributed to the world that was natually killing itself at the time, by possibly catalysing it’s doom?
Reinforce Zwei You refering to Zodiark, or just a monster in generic(?) terms?
Not at all. It's how they took two different routes and applied what they knew. Creation energy ran wild, because there was nothing to check it and keep order. It's like the whole wave of light on Novrandt. It was just sweeping in a single direction until it met a resisting force (sacrifice) that stopped it. Then we came about and redistributed said energy, and began to remove the excess.
Back in their time, that role fell to Hydaelyn when she came about as a means of control. Unfortunately, that didn't sit well, since a few members of the Council felt control wasn't needed, as it never was prior to the disaster they faced.
One small group led by a single member of the Council forced the limitation, to see if it would prevent further disaster. They bottlenecked the raw force of creation energy held by Zodiark, and by using Hydaelyn as a siev or funnel, created a slow drip method.
Back to Novrandt, I feel we just made the needed adjustments to reign in the light, just as they'd made the sacrifices needed back then to reign in the creation energy.
I really hope we find out what actually happened, what caused all this, in 5.3.
6.0 seems more likely now. We can only hope
@@Krysta1Rose Indeed. It'll either be a major plot point for 6.0, or a thread leading us onto 7.0.
Basically, the Ascians Silent Hill'd themselves.
Goddamn blue chicken.
It's not a theme. It's a dirge. For those Azem could not save.
Before Jesus returns… the world will mirror what has happened in this sequence. Please, turn to Christ while there is still time.
Ascian: "Remember us..."
My sadistic ass: "I already forgot your name"
My question is that really the fiend that ruined the world abd id this boss in any other fibal fantasy. Seems we beat a monster too easily..
I imagine it was weaker when we fought it considering Emet-Selch hadn't been exposed to the Calamity, which was described by the ghostly Ascians in his Amaurot as a sound from within the earth that would drive those who heard it mad and caused them to use their Creation Magic to create manifestations of their darkest fears. Emet-Selch still had perfect self-control when he made the copy for us.
@@bainbonic We still don't know what the hell that sound coming from the earth was~
@@bainbonic I wonder if it's gonna be some kind of lovecraftian monster even stronger than zodiark and hydealyn...
Now that Emet-Selch has kicked the bucket and Zenos and Elidibus just aren't on his level, we're going to need another core antagonist to be behind it all. The Terminus or whatever brought it about is the best option.
@@Kageryushin what if Zodiark willed Zenos (who had to attain his own echo via artificial means) their champion and he gains even more power to rival the Warrior or light/darkness and have him show his greater strength by killing 1-2 of the scions effortlessly.
Not to mention Elidibus does mention that where there is a warrior of light must exist a warrior of darkness. Remember there are other stars out there Elidibus could affect the balance of since dimensional jumps seem trivial to an Ascian.
Personally though I hope Zenos gets to become Zodiarks champion and rallies his own force of darkness together in the wake of the events happening in Garlemald.
After all we have a score to settle with our so called friend. XD
