I really liked this video Grady. I like it when you show love to artists that fly beneath the radar like the videos you've done about Lori McKenna who has inspired me as a songwriter. Here's one of mine chock full of steel guitar and fiddle if you're interested. ruclips.net/video/TvhIp7_xCYI/видео.html
He is. I really don't listen to country music. I live in Spain and you don't get country unless you hop on the internet looking for it. And I really appreciate Grady's passion about country music. I really enjoy watching youtube videos of people sharing things they are clearly passionated about. And along the way I've discovered really good music. Thanks to Grady, Zach Bryan was on my top 3 of the most listened artist last year acording to spotify. hehehe
#16 - Grady, YOU are changing country music. You are such a big force in the movement. I believe in a few years, you will be recognized as part of the reason why this change is happening.
This video is so charming, you should take us on field trips more often Also I could not be happier about the state of country music right now, it's never been cooler to be a fan
I teared up a second before you did. I am so so grateful for what you've done for years and it makes my heart melt that soulful creative talented country is catching fire
Grady, been watching your videos for a good amount of years now and I strongly feel that you have had such a strong influence on this revolution of Country music that we have been seeing lately. It’s refreshing and feels like home. We all thank you!
I would specifically point to his video about snap beats causing the backlash against the pop fusion era as being the start of the current moment in the genre. Boyfriend country was merely a brief prelude into the more traditional era (whether lyrically or production wise) we see today and I'm perfectly cool with that. Also, I think the constant raunchiness and selfishness in rap music has become a turn off for most audiences these days.
Love it! Love that you’re in Nashville advocating for and supporting these artists. It was definitely the move! Even if it’s just letting an artist on the outside know that someone in Nash gets it and will support them, that’s huge!
I had a chat with the music director for 840 CFCW a while back. He said this new sound doesn’t “fit” in with what they like to play. I told him he should have been to the Ponoka Stampede when Colter Wall was playing. It was full! Quality music is coming back and you are playing a huge part in it. Keep it up!
Grady, you seem like such a genuine person. I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel a few years back. You introduced me to Mike and The Moonpies and Ashley McBryde to name a few. I for one, am super excited for Ashley's new album. I love concept albums and Lindeville sounds like a fun trip. Keep fighting the good fight!!
It’s because of someone like you that shares amazing songs all the time that are completely under the radar, im able to explore and find these new amazing talented artist. Thank you for all the work you do
Grady, I saw it at Cheyenne Frontier Days this year. Went with my son to see Koe, Nelly, and Jellyroll. In between Jellyroll(opener) and Nelly, "Something in the orange" played over the sound system. Did my heart good to see and hear the crowd singing it at the top of their lungs. I almost feel like the next generation is ready for a change in their listening choices. The majors are pushing what's worked for the last few years(decade). But their time is heading to a major change just as the music is. I agree. Great video today!
Moving to Nashville is so good for you. I can see the shift in your spirit. Seeing your Joy is contagious & hopeful. Thanks for making this video Grady!💛🌞✨
Always talking from the heart Grady. How can anyone not love that? It comes across in spades that you feel what you say and you say what you feel. A viewer and songwriter like me is inspired by you.
Definitely not your worst video! One that I loved in fact. I came to country via bluegrass, Appalachian, and Celtic music as a kid. I didn't get into country until well into high school, but I definitely stopped listening around a decade ago. Thanks for the hope!
Absolutely agree with everything Grady. You’re a very well articulated, smart, and creative person. I truly appreciate you for everything you’ve done to help me comprehend things on a deeper level, and for making an avid enjoyer of ZLB out of me. This is one of my favorite of your videos by a mile.
your videos are exactly what i’ve been looking for. this year i’ve really embraced my country roots and love for country music. as a queer trans woman i always felt awkward and alienated from all things country even tho that’s where i’m from and what i love. i decided this year to just embrace who i am and i’ve been binging country music (old and new). tbh i felt uneasy about getting into new country music. i liked the lyrics, politics, and unapologetic twang of the old school and for some reason i felt like current country would be *only* too popish-there is a lot of country now that’s too popish for me but there’s also a lot more that isn’t-and i was scared that somehow i would feel excluded as a listener (not really sure what that means or if that’s a thing haha). but i was wrong. it kinda feels like now was exactly the time for me to jump into country!!! things are definitely shifting in the right direction. from the instruments getting featured to the lyrics and heart that’s coming thru. chapel hart, zach bryan, lainey wilson. i feel “wait in the truck” is a good example of the shift you mentioned more in terms of lyrics. i love story songs lol. it’s just felt like i really got into country music at the right time. and i’m so glad i found your videos. since i’ve been listening to so much good music, i’ve been talking everybody’s ear off about it and what i needed was someone else to talk critically and appreciatively about all things country music with, and your videos provide that! i love the way you review songs, how you think about them. and i love how you encourage your viewers to lean into the edges of the country scene. thx for your content. your work doesn’t go unappreciated! ❤️ -corbin (oklahoma/chicago)
Grady you always hit the nail on the head you give such an accurate voice to a lot of us out here who feel the same way but don’t or can’t articulate it the way you do! So thank you for doing that!
Awesome video. I can’t get enough of Hailey Whitters and I’m glad I found her music through your videos. I’m addicted to her song The Neon ! I hope she continues on the upward trajectory.
Brad, I saw Whitters sing "Glad to be Here" with just an acoustic guitar at Stagecoach, and that's been my drug song ever since. Then I heard the recording with Brent Cobb, and man, if wasn't even better! I'm with you, though, I just can't get enough of that girl.
Worst video you've made? Crazy talk, it was great! Captured everything that's great about your channel - the honesty, the genuine love of country, the ability to articulate your thoughts and passions well, and just engaging thoughtfully with the subject matter. Plus, boosting upcoming artists! As a country fan in England, without the time to keep going searching, you've been a great way for me to discover new, great artists. You keep being you man, it's always fantastic!
It sounds like moving to Nashville has really made you a lot happier! I loved this video. The open and honestly is so lovely to hear. Grady keep doing what you are doing too!!
Laughing about the Montana whatever fest comment -- you're exactly right! It's called Under the Big Sky in Whitefish. This years lineup included, Turnpike, Cody Jinks, Zach Bryan, Jamey Johnson, Midland, Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wade, and more. A great time listening to great music in one of the most beautiful areas of the country -- highly recommend!
2 takeaways. First, you’re right brother! We are in the neotraditional movement full swing right now and I’m here for it! After years of saying that we just need people to make this music and we will listen to it, they’ve made it and we are listening. Second, after seeing you down in a few videos, you seem to be in a real good place and I’m happy for you man!
Your energy in this video is sooo infectious. Also, gonna send this to all my “I hate country music it’s just boring pop trash” friends and be like “see? there is cooler stuff.” 😂 And the walking tour was a fun change just in case the leaf blowers come back!
So happy for you, and for country music. To me this was one of your best videos. Simple, honest, and downright wholesome. It’s what country music should be, encapsulated in a video. Keep going, dude.
Grady, please be assured that this video is not "...the worst song (you) have ever made." In my opinion, it is one of your three best. It is a beautiful, unabashed love letter to the current state of changing tides in Country Music. Keep up the great work.
You seem so much more joyful (was going to say happier... but that's too surface level) than a few months ago 😊🙏🏼 I'm happy for you! Not a bad video at all!
You are doing an absolute service to music, and our culture. Promoting songs that convey real thoughts and experiences, the songs that make me feel less alone...
Keep doing what you're doing! You've introduced me to so much good country music through your videos it's unreal. I had never heard of American Aquarium until your videos and now they're consistenly one of my most played artists. So thanks again for putting me on to so much good music.
worst video? HA more like realist video. You are so sweet and seeing you get choked up got me choked up. I love hearing your thoughts and feelings about it all. Thank you for always keeping it real.
Been watching your channel for a few years, so this was a nice change of pace. Seeing a more, vulnerable side(?) of you? Maybe it’s just passion. But I absolutely love it.
Love you Grady it’s amazing to see this shift and you should feel like a proud parent because you are one of the driving forces of this movement and helping you g fans find more independent artists.
Grady, keep doing this man. Keep being up in dms and building connections and bridges between artists. People are seeing you and what you say, and it’s turning out some good ass music!
I loved this video, Grady! ♥️ I love hearing your perspective. I will say, I can’t unhear the snap tracks that never used to bother me until you pointed them out though. 😂😂😂
Another great country act on AGT this year was Drake Milligan. Lots of fiddle and steel in his songs. He put out a full album today and I'm loving it so far!
I really enjoyed this video!!!! I know how emotional music makes ME and it's nice to know I'm not alone!!!! I've been a fan of country music for 30 plus years. 90s country will always be my most favorite. However, it has been great to see it evolve over the years. I have to agree - this era of country is exciting!!!!!

I really loved this video Grady! Keep it up, I love a classic album review but really just anything you put out that opens my eyes to new music is a great time
This aspiring songwriter REALLY appreciates country music fans/critics like Grady! Even more, I appreciate the raw, creative, well-written lyrics that Nashville songwriters CONSTANTLY come up with...especially the last couple of years! Such a BIG part of my lyric-writing training/improvement!!! Kudos! Continue to impress me!!!
Really cool to think you're most viral video, the everything wrong with 2013 bro country, is almost a decade old. And now, here we are, with Zach Bryan, Turnpike, and the likes just crushing it. Honestly, a lot has to do with you at least in my own listening. I'm a similar frame as you, mid-30 something suburban dude who enjoyed Garth and country from a distance. Than Isbell came along and I started getting sucked in, and through your channel I've found artists like Muscadine and Cole Chaney. Keep up the good work and stay true to yourself.
Ashley is a great newspaper style song writer. Look at her last album. It's what I think she does best. As for radio...who even listens any more? I've never discovered any good country music on radio in decades. And I, for one, like the randomness of this video. It's refreshing!
Recently Post Malone has been teasing that he might be working on a country album and if you haven't heard him sing without autotune you have to cause his voice is great and he covered Brad Paisleys "im gonna miss her" and he did great so hopefully he comes out with a country album! Also I love the new younger artist and how they are really showing what they can do and they are also around my age too. As well as, just the new ear of country music that has been creeping up and when I've listened to the radio lately im starting to hear a little more of that.
This was just a feel good video for all of us on this side of country music. ☺️ Now, if only I can somehow manage to get the Grady stamp of approval. 😂

I’ll venture even further to say that a lot of the radio pop country nowadays is considered middle aged soccer mom music. Karen country, or “Live Laugh Love” country if you will.
Very random video, but it just felt right! Reviews are coming next week. Another fun one tmw! Love yall. Now I gotta drive 9 hours back to VA.
Safe travels!
Dude I appreciate everything you've been doing for country music. Keep it up 👍🤠👏

This was such an awesome uplifting video! I hope to do justice to the country scene as well. Debut album just dropped. I guess we will see 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤠
Safe travels! Are you gonna cover Firstborn by Nicolle Galyon? 🙂
You are such a positive force in the country music world Grady! One of your favorite sayings “Keep doing what you always do” LOL

I see myself in the front row at the Zach concert clip. I have finally made it into a Grady smith video.
I had a chat with the music director for 840 CFCW a while back. He said this new sound doesn’t “fit” in with what they like to play. Keep up the good work and stay true to yourself.
damn, thank you
I love your videos, what great random thoughts!
Ashley is a great newspaper style song writer. Look at her last album. It's what I think she does best. As for radio...who even listens any more? I've never discovered any good country music on radio in decades. And I, for one, like the randomness of this video. It's refreshing!

Now, if only I can somehow manage to get the Grady stamp of approval. 😂
Awesome video, Grady. It's refreshing to see a video with so many positives about the current country music climate!
