As a military clearance holder when getting a classified documents, from a secured safe, I had to initial and date stamp a signature card to sign it out. At the end of the day someone was responsible for making sure all documents were logged back in or dispositioned. Where is the chain of custody!!!This is a VERY BIG problem!

That air traffic software incident is actually shocking. Backup systems do indeed have their own backups, and corrupted data is something that shouldn't exist on that level of service. Even small and medium companies follow the basic rules of system backups, and those include a bare minimum of security for data preservation and data integrity that should be imperative on something as complex as software used by airlines. This is an infrastructure problem, likely already present for many years, but it should alert people to the fact that this needs some proper funding to fix.
I wonder what will happen if the root cause is "underfunded and understaffed."

I work in IT. I am soooo not surprised replacing one file broke all Flights. Most huge systems are held together by the electronic equivalent of duct tape and prayers.

Uhoh, I'm no spring chicken and I still have my elder dad's stuff which includes some of those jars full of nuts, bolts and screws in the basement. It's a symptom of having parents that raised me that grew up during the depression .
I'm older and have been working on my house for about a decade. At this point, I could open a hardware store (though for some reason, every time I need a screw, I never have the right size) Just this summer I started trying to get rid of paint that was here when I moved in because I had a hazmat incident in my basement. My nephews will probably inherit enough building materials to build their own houses...but no chemicals

I wanted to thank you guys. My wife and daughter were there last night. Magically their tickets were upgraded to row 4. Wow. They own a business that you mentioned during the worst of covid. It made a business difference but mostly a human difference. Last night was the same degree of positive. Their #1 takeaway, past laughing the whole time, was Colbert is human and makes everyone else more human. So thank you. You are more than a group of people on TV. You are changing lives.

So no one notices when 1 gets left in his old office, another in his garage. Someone finds 1, then looks for more, returning them voluntarily when found and he agrees to pay the fine.
Vs a guy who purposely stole a bunch of expensive books, mixed them in with his stuff, kept them in a basically public place, lied about returning them multiple times, claimed they were planted when cops find them, despite watching on surveillance, then that they were his, then that he checked them out with his mind, among other excuses.
Not even, there is no indication that Biden took these documents or hid them on purpose.

I think the archives need to be investigated and find out how documents are being taken out and are not returned. I mean they should have a list all documents the president checks out and whether they have been returned. And once a president is packing up to leave the White House they can require them to be returned

There really should be a sign-in, sign-out system for classified documents. It reminds me of an episode of "The West Wing" where Charlie notices that copies of the president's private schedule keep getting leaked so he has to "crack down" by making people sign for every copy they receive. It's such a simple solution that I'm not at all surprised we don't do it.

Don’t agree. But regardless, Herschel Walker’s lies were well known before the election and the people voted accordingly. Whereas, lies told by Santos extend far beyond his resume to his race, religion, wealth, address, charities, possible criminal activities in Brazil, and the great unknown as more of his deceit is unveiled daily. This information was not publicly available until after the election. Hence, voters were not able to take his lies into consideration when they cast their votes.
