Kudos to Master Stella, It's so hard to see an abstract artist that is actually a master and not a phony; amazing job
I love his work.
My husband worked at Tyler Graphics back in the day, maybe ‘82. One day I went to pick him up from work (we only had one car) and there was Frank’s Ferrari, just sitting there unlocked. Well, I thought, “what could it hurt? Just for a minute?”
No sooner was I sitting down -haha, next to a pile of $ -than here came Frank and Ken Tyler (fortunately) laughing at my chutzpah.
Frank told me he loved my car which was a Civic, but turned down my offer of a trade.
A kind man, a gentleman, and yes, a towering artist who will be greatly missed by one recent art school grad turned old artist lady.
Frank passed away today May 4 2024 the abstract Master

I wished I was able to meet him when I was a student visiting New York in 1970.

Frank Stella looks like a retired assembly-line worker, but that's not a bad thing at all.

I am quite familiar with Stella's work, and do not actually consider him to be an artist. There many reasons, but just a few are: he cannot draw, which really is paramount; he cannot handle or modulate paint, simply fills in flat colors like a child's coloring book; and his color sense is nonexistent; his sense of composition is quite unsophisticated and robotic, artificially contrived and formulaic; there is no actual "content" to his work. And the long list goes on...
Bottom line: his entire output is uncreatively contrived to quickly fill large square footages of canvas, for a purely commercial purpose. Some can drink the Koolaid, but not me.

@@chancetaylor6763 I already listed several of his deficits. I could go on. As I say, he is a maker of corporate decorations, not an artist.
