I just watched the old video and was setting up my Hero 11 when I noticed a link to a "new" video version. Thank you for the update. I think I am now ready to try this out😁
Thanks for the update… Never thought to clip in from the top while still being upside down (my last chest mount had the hook instead of the L and I just got set in my ways lol)… WAY BETTER NOW! Really appreciate it! It also makes it just a tad higher which improves the angle.
Dude.. I actually flipped my hook after seeing that old video. I loved the lower footage angle and it was easier to detach for hand held shots. But after using it like that for a while, I was noticing that my footage was bouncier. I tried tightening the straps and lowering my Camlebak sternum strap over the top of the chest mount. I finally realized it was because the weight of the Hero 7 was below the chest mount so I switched it back to the way I had it. Thanks for making this new video for all those who had not figured it out on their own!
I don’t have a GoPro but I do have a cheaper brand. So putting it upside down means it will record upside down. So do you flip the video when editing? I found a setting that says rotate video, but no matter how you hold the camera it’s upside down.
So the GoPro is shooting at a more upward angle. Personally I like the view with the handle bars in the lower third of the frame and having the view of what’s coming in the top two thirds
@@ronnoco So it has nothing at all to do with better stabilization, but only with your preferred angle of view. As far as optimal stabilization is concerned, it's all about the camera's center of gravity, and that should be in the middle of the plate. If you mount the camera upside down, it will be off center, further down.
@@Visual_Notes if you have the L mount you can have the camera upside down and still in the centre of the chest strap. Having it upside down is just a personal preference for the the angle and point of view
My buddy metal detects in Florida and takes me out on Messenger on his phone( Im in Canada), is there any camera that can operate Messenger Video and Audio Live that's not a crappy cell phone Messenger quality video live? Thanks Canslaw🇨🇦
Hello my friend rennoco. Can i have an advise on how you clean your chesty. Mostly i do mountain biking and when i sweat and once done biking i always notice that the pads attached to my chest is also wet also for the straps Do i need to expose it to sun to dry will it not affect the straps to loosen ? Or should i just leave it hanged up inside my house until it dries up?
stop mounting it upside down and just put an extension arm between the gopro and the chesty, it too will allow tilting the camera upwards for the correct angle.
Still kind of disagree. For some other camera users (like Yi 4k+) the stabilisation does not work if you use the camera auto rotate function and hang it upside down. In fact, the stabilisation makes things worse! If you invert these cameras you'll need to rotate the video in post.
I just bought a Hero 11 and have no idea what I'm doing. Anyone use this new on yet? Or a 10? Heard they're similar. Any tips would he greatly appreciated!
Good to know. I feel like I don’t owe you a thanks since I gave you one for the incorrect video and I feel robbed 🤔🤣 Nah fkn sweet, cheers 🤙🏼 And us aussies are supposed to swear all the time 😂
No issue here with swearing on the first vid. Shame you can't just speak how you want without getting earache from people..... Anyways, thanks for the tips, going to try them out now.
The swearing doesn’t bother me, but I can understand that as a Dad, with small kids, I’d probably skip your videos instead of watching them, if the kids were within earshot. Thanks for the tutorial though, I just bought my first chest mount.
So you're saying it's better to use it as per every photo on Gopro's Chesty page? I'm shocked that they fairly clearly indicated how it's meant to be used 😂😂
Well done mate! Helps heaps.
Glad it helps
Had footage today that was completely ruined. Rode some gnarly chunky terrain and it was so shaky. Thanks for the update. I’ll try this out
Let me know how it goes 🤟🏻
Great to see you admitted a mistake and fixed it.
Watching this in 2023. Getting into filming by bike rides. Just got a GP11 going to give this a try.
Thanks!

Aaha no dramas mate! I just wish I figured it out sooner!

🤣 genius
I like this much better, and thank you for fixing the language thing, you're more believable man. Thx
Can you put a link of that "L Shaped Mount" somewhere? I can't seem to find it anywhere online.

Yea man if you can flip the footage when editing I’d recommend that
@@ronnoco what you use to edit GoPro/flip go pro video?
thanks for taking the time to make these vids! testing this out today! love the good vibes in your videos!
With this mount the position is good for biking on a saddle, what about if u stay stand… it will record only the bike frame …
Makes sense to center the weight. But why is it important for the gopro to be upside down?

Hey thanks man appreciate the correction. Have a good one!
Why is upside down better? I found that walking with it gives a bounce motion with every step.

How do you make the footage not come out upside down?
Learnt that the hard way today.
We all did 😂
My guy!!😂😭
I always had it right side up😭😂😂
Thanks

I just hose mine down when I was my bike and leave it outside to dry ahaha 😂
@@ronnoco haha same way as mine thank you for your response and help
Oh boy, thanks for this tip! Definitely checking this out the next time on the bike 🔥
ok, now i see this too. I will try your instructions. Will post some video result when I have them.

How you turn around /upside down your video after? :(😅
Hey man thanks a lot for this update but how could I get this "L" mount instead of the "J" one pls ??
I think they are available on the GoPro website 🤔

You know what I need help with? Getting the horizon level. No matter how many times I check before starting, I always end up with a crooked horizon.
@Sometimescloudy no, just ended up using the mobile app to get it as straight as possible, filmed in 2.7k and cropped
Will this be with J hook the same ? I cant find anywhere this L hook

I just got a GoPro 10 and my footage is terrible. Hopefully this video does not lead me astray haha! I am about to go shred some trails RIGHT NOW!!!
Ahaha good luck!
Is this chestmount good for mudruns and can u clean them afterwards
Yea man I can’t see why you couldn’t clean it 🤷🏻♂️

Def need to try this, just got a bunch of unusable super shaky footage.

thank you finally got it right
@RONNOCO how about stabilization setting? how do you prefer?
I’m just using the normal hypersmooth 3.0. Also running my shutter on auto
Thank you sir!
Thankfully i saw this video first lol
Nice correction bro. Getting my chest strap tomorrow and this will help 👌🏾
What's the name of the L shaped attachment?

I’d still recommend this method with the hero 5 as well
