I may have asked before, (apologies if I have), but do you have your library catalogued into a database so you can keep track of what you have? A couple of years ago I entered all mine into a database at "Librarything". It took several days, but once I figured out how to enter with the ISBN numbers, it went quickly. It really helps me when I am at a thrift store or book sale and not sure if I have a particular book. Also, I am such a book nerd that I enjoy just going through it and seeing all the data that it provides, such as graphs with the various types of books I own etc. I am not pushing it on you, just thought someone with as many books as you might enjoy. Our library had its "Friends of the Library " booksale this weekend & I exercised great restraint, only picking up a couple of books, as well as a stack of piano music (I am a pianist). Thanks for the video!

It's getting harder and harder for me to remember what I have and what I don't, particularly when it comes to novels, and I may have to try something like that. Believe it or not, I've never been to a library sale, I'd like to go to one someday. Thanks for watching!

I read several of the X files novels, loved the show back in the day. Wow, great haul!

Thanks! Some of my earliest memories are actually of watching the X-Files, and I've really enjoyed the couple of novels I've read so far

Liked seeing your book haul. I've also found HP Books to be a good source for used books. Where I'm used to walking out of most used bookshops with at least a couple books it's not uncommon to walk out of HPB with a couple boxes full. Shelf space has become a huge issue, lol. Happy reading!

Thank you, and thanks for commenting! There are two HPB's in my area and I have to be very careful, particularly when they've restocked the clearance shelves. I'm running out of space too; I have books all over my house and I've started doubling some of my shelves. At this point I'm trying to only buy books that I know I won't likely come across again soon, or that are too good of a deal to pass up

Churchill's WWII account is superb... simple language and to the point. Well, he did order when Prime Minister that no memo should be more than 1 page long! A very good writer. $1.60 a piece!!!!

I was surprised to find them so cheap, usually with a collection like that they put them behind the counter and mark up the prices, but I think someone saw the water marks, the thick layer of dust on the pages and some foxing that looked like mold and decided they weren't worth much, but the issues were all cosmetic. I like Churchill's writing, it flows right along. Now I'm hoping that the same person who donated The Second World War also donated the complete set of The World Crisis, but I know I could never be that lucky.

Nice find on the Churchill set. Readable condition works. Books are for reading, not for sitting on the shelf looking pretty -- at least as far as I'm concerned.
I'm not wild about Bukowski either, though I'll agree that Ham on Rye is okay. When I was around 30 years old, a younger Bukowski fan I worked with talked me into giving him a try. Just didn't click with me overall. I think his stuff may have resonated more when I was younger.
Hope you like the C.J. Cherryh novel. I've been meaning to try her stuff for a while. I look forward to hearing your impressions if you get to it soon.

I've never really understood the big deal about Bukowski, but I think you're right about his writing resonating more with younger people. When I was younger, and my friends and I were all reading writers like Hunter Thompson and Chuck Palahniuk, Bukowski seemed like the next step up, but his writing has always just seemed gross to me. I'd been around drunks and some of the things Bukowski wrote about and knew there wasn't much glamour or glory in the lifestyle he was writing about.
I was surprised by Ham On Rye, and I think it's overlooked because it isn't as dirty or disturbing as his other books, and really, it's the only reason I'm willing to give Bukowski another try.
I can't promise I'll get to C.J. Cherryh's books soon, but Rimrunners is the kind of book I've been reaching for lately. Thanks for commenting!
