I did a BMW driving event in the early 2000s near Florence, Kentucky. They had every car BMW made, except the M cars, but they were all automatics. The basis of the event was to showcase BMW's AWD, but they had partnered with a breast cancer foundation. For every mile you drove in one of their cars BMW would donate $1 to the breast cancer foundation. My brother and I drove everything they had. The last thing I drove was a RWD 540i wagon and I had been a good boy all day. On the way back to the event location there was a 90° left hand turn. I said something like "watch this" to my brother and I and locked the transmission in 2nd gear and did a near perfect 4 wheel drift around the turn. Straightened the car out and kept going. No sooner had done that a cop crests the hill, headed towards me. I wasn't speeding, but there was a big cloud of tire smoke behind me and I know the cop saw it. As he drove past me the cop pointed at the smoke, pointed at me and shook his finger. The end of the event was a timed autocross set up in the parking lot of the horse track BMW was using in a new 330xi. They did individual times for bragging rights, but the group time determined which team won. Our team won, but our advantage was 3 drivers, me, my brother and some 20 year old kid. I was less than a tenth of a second behind my brother and he was a tenth slower than the 20 year old. The closest person to me, 4th place, was 2.5 seconds slower. It was a good day!
I remember all those Susan B Kohlman events too. My name is Sharpie'd on one of those fenders. If only we had a VIN and knew how to look up the wiki to see where those cars are now...
You can tell this guy's from Canada. My first ticket was in 1997 in a 92 Nissan sentra 4 speed. 115mph in a 65 on the highway. I didn't run when I saw the lights. The cop opened his door for cover as he drew his gun, and told me to slowly get out of the car w my hands up and lay face down on the pavement at 1am on the side of the highway. And he ended up being pretty cool. I still got a major ticket
I used to live in Durham Region where BMW Canada used to be located at the time. I rejoined the BMW Club around 2000-2001, and BMW Canada was still offering free drives to BMW Club members. I remember taking out a 2001 BMW 330 manual and flogging it hard, all for free. Good times back then. Today, I'm on BMW number 6, a 5 Series manual, with upgraded M5 suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and nothing will corner like this baby, tire technology has improved so much in the past 20 years. I know that I get a lot of looks, like why is this old gray haired guy driving like a teenager?
I was lucky enough to "borrow" my now ex brother in laws 98 318is 5 speed manual (not M series) but had been fully optioned with full blue leather interior while my Audi A4 was being serviced. Decided to take it out for a little bit of thrills and spills late one night and after coming around a corner completely sideways got confronted by a highway patrol car. Long story short I was able to lose them purely because in a tight road network the SS commodore V8 had absolutely no chance of keeping up in the tight corners and safely made it home with no probs. Never been a fan of BM's until that moment in time and was soooo much fun.
tons of accurate knowledge here. I've heard stories of BMW M selling E30 M3's to employees at a discount just to get them off the lot a year and some change after they launched. The E36 non-M and the M version saved BMW & BMW M in North America. No two ways about it.

IIRC the euro version has a cat less midpipe too, which I did very early into my days of multiple BMW ownership. Supersprint trackpipe is a direct bolt on off the OEM downpipe flanges to your choice of catback. Full custom 3" mandrel from the downpipes on usually nets the best gains, has a 'deeper' tone too. You keep throwing up pictures of the M3 R (E36). Only sold in AUS, only to those with a racing license…. To go ‘production car’ racing. I mention it as you really should look into that. Some of the best Motorsport you’ll see.
That’s why you have a local racing circuit for full M experience. Oh, you don’t have the circuit? Nobody needs F1 spec circuit for M fun, no worries, just plain pld school track will fit fine not to be a jerk on road and have the “BMW driver faith”. But yet you have bunch of preordered M3’s in 90s. Spoiled bully countries receives the best as always.
No wonder BMWs have such a bad rap. That was probably the worst part of BMW ownership - having people trash talk to you because of other jackasses who have no common sense. Low wattage move, to rip the same route every time, to the point that people are waiting out there to get your plates - because there was no cameras.
As a car guy myself I would call the cops and show up to court too if some jackass decided to go 125mph down my neighborhood roads. There’s “stupid and fun” decisions and there’s “just plain dumb” decisions and this definitely falls under the latter

@@benzina5917 no, he said that's what the charge is now.
You keep throwing up pictures of the M3 R (E36). Only sold in AUS, only to those with a racing license…. To go ‘production car’ racing. I mention it as you really should look into that. Some of the best Motorsport you’ll see.
Hot cars....easy to hate but M's are wonderful. My opinion.
Obey and comply with the tyrants.
wow that's crazy man
lol its a lot worse now, try 14 day impound and 30 day suspension
Id be going back to that neighborhood with fireworks. Pop here pop there playing shadow games
Haha he sucked it up, nah you were caught
Your mistake was stopping
That’s why you have a local racing circuit for full M experience. Oh, you don’t have the circuit? Nobody needs F1 spec circuit for M fun, no worries, just plain pld school track will fit fine not to be a jerk on road and have the “BMW driver faith”. But yet you have bunch of preordered M3’s in 90s. Spoiled bully countries receives the best as always.
Great story 😝 much stricter laws these days for reckless driving
Would rather have the s52. All day everyday
So noone got banned from the BMW HQ then?
You should do story about Rinnspeed Rainbow Diablo
People are weird.
Even 45 😂😂😂
please do 1 story per month or so
DMV?
No wonder BMWs have such a bad rap. That was probably the worst part of BMW ownership - having people trash talk to you because of other jackasses who have no common sense. Low wattage move, to rip the same route every time, to the point that people are waiting out there to get your plates - because there was no cameras.
BMW should ban themselves. No smart decisions made…what could go wrong.
Thought it was Jordan Peterson 😂

Canada, the land of Karen’s
That's life.😂
Proof of all CLAIMS in this STORY are Required.
Thank you.
huh?
awesome
5:06 this guys pronunciation of words is terrible. Its pronounced "fun".
Clearly a language barrier
Oy vey
Karen's are everywhere, even Canada.
As a car guy myself I would call the cops and show up to court too if some jackass decided to go 125mph down my neighborhood roads. There’s “stupid and fun” decisions and there’s “just plain dumb” decisions and this definitely falls under the latter
Yawn
Honestly Canadians deserve Trudeau and his socialism.
No please no 😢
There is not one word of that story that I would be proud of telling anyone in private, never mind bringing it to the internet.
Ok Nancy.
Makes a good story wether true or not. Dash cam would have been helpfull.
Don’t like it. Don’t watch it.
Lighten up Karen.
I'm sure you did stupid stuff too as a young fellow. Difference is this guy will tell the world and has nothing to hide
What's the front glass called again? Oh yeah, a windshield.
Better that they banned you from Munich ( Bayrische Motoren Werke ) Hq cause you buddy talking so much bullshit 😂🤣
Belt buckle in your face is wild.⏸️🤦🏼♂️
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
B s
Why are you posting stories about driving 200km in a residential running from cops swerving in oncoming lanes? Might as well just bring some takeover kids on the show next
He drove 200km in a neighborhood? That must be a massive neighborhood. My state isn't even 200km long.
Bmw's suck... you can have what evers left of them. Over engineered, stiff, unrefined, chunky, block engineering...🤮
Sounds like you’re used to seeing the tail lights of bmw’s pretty often from whatever shitbox you’re driving 🤣
…bmw /club/ hq?
