I'm too a GBS survivor! Unfortunately, I was dx'd with CIDP (chronic inflammatory demylanating polyneuropathy- the evil sinister sibling of GBS that causes progressive destruction of the mylan sheath of all nerves in the body and brain and have evidence of it in my brain 😡🤬😡😤) in November 2016-> about ½ a month after my first round of having GBS (as a result of getting my flu shot in 2014. Luckily I'm on maintenance dosing of IVIG and independently infuse once a month via my port along with running liters of saline depending upon how my dysautonomia symptoms are (typically 3 liters a month although some months I only need one but others I need 6 (dx'd with dysautonomia in 2012 after contracting MERS- a coronavirus similar to the current SARS-COV2 that started in 2019 but hit the fan in the year the world turned to shit aka 2020).
It is so refreshing to see the young man, Dan, Miranda's boyfriend, stick with her all the way through..... God bless you, kiddo, the world needs more men like you. Congrats to Miranda for all the Moxy to pull through. She couldn't even breath on her own at one point. All praise to God for putting the right people in her life at the right time.
I am ARSHAD from Pakistan gbs attack me on my age 25 years 15-6-2017 I admit hospital 4 months were I live icu 3 months how much recorded which months please gave me advice I am very young boy
Thanks for sharing your journey with GBS, Miranda. Your victories reminded me of my 8 month hospitalization with the same disease, 30 years ago. I was stuck in a wheelchair for 2 years and didn’t quit until I was walking on my own. After I graduated to a cane, I began chiropractic studies and became a doctor. Again, thanks for sharing-Jesus IS Lord!
I've never been Soooo happy to see somebody get better!!!!!! 🧡. To everyone who stayed the course....fantastic job. What a beautiful young lady. I'm grateful to God beyond works for Miranda's miracle!!!!! ✨️💫🙏🏽👑
Yes, thank you Shantra, for what you do. My PT's were wonderful and I appreciate them a lot, but my OT's treated more than just my physical issues. They have been so dear....encouraging me, you folks are so creative to problem-solve difficulties I've had, such a can-do attitude, I've had some real complex issues but you always figured out SOMETHING to do for it !........not only during the rehab from my paralysis (2014), but also after my spinal reconstruction surgery last year - rodding and fusions from T-3 to the ilium - and then repeat rodding 9 mo.s later due to one of the rods breaking. I just recall how my OT's have listened and been compassionate, made me laugh, and cheered me on. My hand OT after GBS had her work cut out as they were the last to recover and still limited. Thanks again for making O.T your career- it's really more a calling. I was an RN for > 30 yr.s and know how draining the work can be, but worth every minute of it.
One of the best profesion in the world!. I'm an OT .Used to work in PR at Vocational Rehab center. In 2005, I had a stroke, now Im hemiplegic and can't be a practicioner, but the 15 years as an OT I really enjoy it.So please ...fill my place in the rehab world. You will never regreat. My collagues help me so much in ADL, re learn to rewrite, read ,walk, concentration and so more. Please never give up, we need PT, OT ,ST, nurse, Dr and the family support.
I had /have gbs right now, ,and started to cry watching your video, ,I am able to walk on a walker now and doing exercise 4 hours a day/physical therapy, ,,,after only 2 weeks of not being able to move at all,,,hope to fully recovery, ,,just like you did,,,good job girl,,,proud of you and all your family and friends
These rain drops on my eyes in sunny Cali are making my face wet. I am glad you are well. God bless you, family, bf and entire town church for standing by you
I am glad you made it through your journey Miranda. I had French polio (GBS) in 1978 and fought like mad to recover. within a year I went from heart stopping and no lung capacity to running marathons. In the years to come you will see just how strong this nightmare has made you.
Thank you and all the many others affected by Guillain Barre and sharing their inspiring stories and recoveries. My daughter Makaylah age 16 around 2011-12 after coming home from the doctors office for her asthma and flu like symptoms just received a flu shot in an instant, me and my families world would be forever changed. It was a Saturday morning and Kaylah was getting ready to go to a karate tournament and she fell in the washer room complaining she couldn't move and then losing her vision. Thinking she was playing around, it suddenly became a situation where I rushed into action flopped her over my shoulder while she was scared and crying rushing her to the nearest emergency room 15 miles away. Paralyzed in my arms carrying her like a baby, kaylah was quickly rushed into the emergency room where the doctors came out hoping to have and explanation of her diagnosis, but they had a blank look on their faces because they had never came across any patient with these type of symptoms. So doctors quickly got her into an ambulance rushing her on a 45 minute drive from Stockton CA to Kaiser Roseville CA. Quickly we felt guilt looked at each other questioning "why us?" Watching your and many others videos is exactly what Kayla would overcome after about over a year at the hospital and INTENSE physical therapy. It was like she was a baby and had to relearn what she had lost in an instance. It is now 2017 and with the grace of God she has made a full recovery and she is back to her normal self attending college and working. Praise to you and your family in your recovery and all the others adversely effected by (GBS). Please note before you get any flu shot, they now make you sign a form detailing they will not be responsible for symptoms like (GBS).
I'm so happy your daughter's doing well. I'm still going through it. Watching this made me cry. I had a flu shot. I live in Sacramento area, do you know of any support groups or anything. I'm going to call my insurance co tomorrow. I don't have Kaiser. It all happened so fast like that to me also. I'm 46. Your poor baby was so young.
...wait...maybe I misread this, but they gave your daughter a flu shot when she was already having symptoms of the flu??? I have asthma and I take the flu shot every year cause I have a high risk of getting pneumonia if I get the flu. But if I had a fever or if I was sick, they wouldn't give it to me cause I would be already immunocompromised. Sounds like you had a bad doctor. Still, I'm sorry that happened to your daughter. That's horrible.
When I got my flu shot this year my pharmacy didn't make me sign that kind of paperwork. GBS is really rare after a flu shot? I get a flu shot every year because I have a weak immune system, and getting GBS seems like the worst thing ever. I am uplifted by the recovery of these young people, I however don't want to get that sick.
A wonderful story of love, help and support from so many Godly people. The healing was wonderful, as was all the loving care. It was great that her boyfriend, family, friends, church members and medical professionals all lovingly assisted Miranda on her journey. This story is as heartwarming as they come.
I just now watched the heartbreaking yet inspiring video about Miranda's struggle with GBS. Miranda, you are so brave, courageous and strong. Any other person would have just given up. Thank you for sharing your story and for continuing to be a powerful and positive force in a sometimes dark world.
What a fighter 🙌 Being a victim of GBS and watching her recovery phase is so refreshing. It took me like 28 days to walk on my own. What I have realised through this recovery process is no matter how hard it is you have to get out of that damn bed that's where your recovery process begins . As long as you still grab a breath Never give up. God bless all
Miranda first of all I love the name because that's my stepdaughter's name. My gosh Miranda you worked so hard and I am just so happy for you but you came so far. It's like better than winning the lottery. You rock Miranda.
WOW just WOW!!! This was so lovingly captured on video. What amazing family and community!!! Miranda I’ve never even knew what GBS was. Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you continued success and God Bless you and your family!!! ❤
I am a US medical student and I greatly appreciate you and your family posting this video. Seeing videos like this help medical students attempt to understand the gravity of GBS, and will hopefully allow us to pick up on it sooner (and prevent misdiagnosis.) Thanks again and glad to hear she’s doing fine! Cheers.
I am astounded at the severity of the illness, the recovery and grit of this young woman. God bless her, her family and medical staff. But most importantly to her boyfriend! You are an amazing young man. God bless you Miranda with continued health. 🙏🏻❤️💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Your video came to me years later. Came from your opposite side of Earth. Yet, it warms my heart seeing Miranda's struggle and determination. I owe you the biggest thank you for recording this. It warms and gives me the universal hope and praying for Miranda to keep thriving. ❤️
Wow! What a beautiful story and wonderful network of family, friends and health care professionals. Praise God for a speedy recovery. I want to see a wedding video next!❤️❤️❤️
My Dad had GBS in 1963 when he was 38 years old and I was just 13. He was hospitalized for many months. That was before ventilators and he was in an iron lung. I'll never forget the day they told me to say my goodbye to him as he would probably not make it through the night. He proved them wrong. It brought tears to see Miranda fight her way back and reminded me of the way my Dad made that same fight so many years earlier. He went on to live a long and joyful life to the age of 83. --- Would love to see an update to this video and I hope Miranda is still doing great today.
My dad also had GBS. I was it 1968. He was 56 years ago. After seeing your journey I see how fortunate he was by not having as a severe case. He was never able to return to work and used a cane for balance but praise the Lord we had him till 1990 at 78 yrs old. I thank you for sharing this story with us. An encouragement to see Gods family coming along side of you. God is So Good!
I’m also a GBS survivor, it’s so hard to think how far we had to come in our journey. I cried watching this 😭, remembering all my firsts, my first time being able to brush my teeth, brush my hair, and yes, dress myself. So glad you documented your experience. So happy for you & will be praying 🙏 for your future health Miranda 🙏🕊In Jesus Name Amen
wow! I stumbled into this video while studying for a nursing exam (I was looking up Guillain-Barre) and I am so glad I did. Miranda, your story is an encouraging story of victory, and this video tells the story beautifully. Seeing you waterskiing and then going back to school for your sophomore year brought tears of joy to my eyes! God bless you, I am so in awe of your courage and your peace through such an ordeal. Keep telling this story!!!
This had me in floods of tears . My grandmother had gbs. She unfortunately never walked again. I was only a young teen when she went through it she lost all feeling and experienced excruciating pains because of it. I started to care for her from just 14 and that was my meaning until she passed away. The care was hard but seeing her not give up was what kept me going. I'd give anything to see her beautiful face again. Stay strong and always keep that fight. Because you have more people fighting with you than you'll ever realise and your fighting will always give someone that feeling of pride to help such an amazing person
I'm an OT and can really understand your journey. My niece got GBS when she was 5. Very frightening! After she recovered, I began my career change after working for 20 yrs at a law firm. It took forever bc I had an English degree but I did it. Been an OT for 15 yrs now. My niece is now in her 30s, she fully recovered and is a speech therapist. GBS changed my family's whole lives. You worked yr butt off, strong woman! What a wonderful team you had behind you. Continued good health you badass!! 😊
You are amazing , you give inspiration to many around the world . You will go on to greater things . I and many in the uk wish you a happy life . God bless from steve in England .
This made me cry.. bless you, your amazing family and friends. My dad was admitted to emergency room a week ago and was fortunate enough for them to recognise it was GBS straight away. We had never even heard of GBS. Currently we are all so distraught, we can’t see him due to COVID as he is in the neurology unit. It’s so heart breaking. He is paralysed from neck down and all we can do is cry. Such a sad and shocking thing this GBS. I’m so happy you recovered Miranda, I wish you a very beautiful life, full of amazing things and great health. ❤️😘
You are truly amazing. I am a nursing student and learning all about GBS. I was crying and cheering you on the whole time I watched your story. You are such an inspiration! Your will power, the love of your family and God is what made you over come this. I just want to say I am so honored to be able to witness your journey.
I lost my only sister of GBS when she was just 26 way back in 1982. Those days there was no cure for GBS. After showing the symptoms, she died within 24 hours! Doctors diagnosed but could not save her. It affected her respiratory cells in the brain, which caused two cardiac arrest one after another. This is her story from India. 38 long years have gone since then... Miss her very much...
When my sister was in elementary school, she came down with a mild case of GBS. She was temporarily paralyzed and in a wheelchair for a few months. She was lucky to not get really sick.
I hope your sis is still making good progress. I've never had GBS but I was seriously ill with sepsis and pneumonia back in late 2018 - early 2019 and nearly died three times. It was also suggested I be sent to the Intensive Care Unit as my vital organs were on the verge of shutting down. I refused to go there as I'd seen my bro-in-law down there just a couple of years beforehand and he was just hours away from dying and that image of him there is still firmly etched in my mind.
Hi I'm Tony I went thru gbs in February 1994. I was 27 yrs old and my parents were there 24/7. My gbs was a lot like yours. Its been 25 yrs and I still haven't forgotten. Glad you are doing good.
My sister is also a GBS patient. She has not recovered completely. She can't walk without shoes and it's been more than 12 years. It's good to see Miranda recovery and it gives us hope. My mom and dad took good care of her and mom went through so much and just 1 and half month ago I lost my father. He had mouth cancer and my poor mom did everything she can to take good care my father and sister. I'm so sad that I have to see my loved ones suffering. My heart aches but I have to smile in front of my sister and my mother.
this video and the love and determination of Miranda and the family is truly remarkable. someone we love has just been sent to the hospital with GBS. Thank you for your inspiration.
I'm in tears. What a horrible disease, but what an inspiration you are. Your strength and determination is truly beautiful. Your family, boyfriend and friends and all the people who were there to help and support you through this were awe-inspiring. I hope and pray that nothing but blessings come your way.
i had the same exact journey when i contracted this syndrome earlier this year. amazing to see someone else go through the same things and have such good results as well!
Amazing young lady. You are a warrior! I bet it felt so amazing to gain independence again, most of us won't ever quite appreciate how much as it is a journey one must travel to truly know just how amazing it is to be independent again after such a horrid illness. Bless you. I want to take a moment to appreciate all our Dr's, nurses, many different therapists the world over for their service. They too are awesome!
I am viewing this for the first time. I hope that you are doing well now, Miranda. I admire your courage and determination. You are certainly an inspiration. You remind us never to take anything in our lives for granted.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have never heard of this condition before. Yours is the second story I have seen. We take so much for granted like brushing our teeth, walking to the bathroom, eating and drinking. I can't imagine how scary and painful this must have been for you. You are such an inspiration for so many. Going back to College after going through so much emotionally and physically, only months later, WOW! "This is my fight song" will always remind me of your incredible strength. God Bless You and Your Incredible Family and Friends. Sincerely, Stacy from Massachusetts ❄
My brother also came down with GBS during his Freshman year at college. At the time little was known. Fortunately he recovered about 90% use of his legs. Thanks for sharing your journey. Wishing you a happy and healthy life
I am deeply touched. Cried so many times watching this video. I am so happy that finally through God's help she was able to sail through. Having confidence in God's ability to heal was the main thing here and this is a great testimony that never give up when you are ill. She fought very hard and God healed her ❤
Grit and gratitude gets one through GBS. Onset Oct 2018 at age 68. Lost 25 lbs of muscle mass in a week. So thankful to my medical community, had IGVF first day for 5 days and never had to go through any respiratory problems. Did not plateau until I went home and had a wonderful team of home health professionals. All of these people definitely do God's work. Thanks to them and my wonderful family and friends, I was able to stand for a minute in March of 2019. In June graduated to out patient therapy and haven't stopped since. God bless a strong family and dedicated care workers.
Amen 🙏 WOW all the people in this video was so amazing. God assigned everyone in line with your recovery. Even your boyfriend staying by your side through your storm. Most boyfriends would not have stayed through all of that. He is definitely a genuine young man. And the power of your church people praying for you. Also your strength , courage and determination to win the battle. I’m truly inspired by your journey. God heard your prayers and he answered Amen Hallelujah 🥰❤️ be blessed young lady 🙏
Bless your heart, im proud of you. I have daughters and granddaughters and thank God we haven't had any major health issues. My love and thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My friend suffered from this syndrome in 2017. I haven't listened about it till he got it then.He was bedridden for seven months. I'm glad he recuperated from it. He can't close his right hand fingeres completely to this day.
What an incredibly strong young woman! Kudos to her and the survivors of that terrible disease! I hope they find a cure! God bless you Miranda and your awesome family and bf!!!🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for this video. Your an inspiration miranda. I spent 114 days in the hospital recovering from G.B.S. I'm home now and still recovering and doing well at it. You give me strength and hope for the future.
Wow what a journey you had Miranda you are a true miracle and I’m so proud of you and your accomplishments. Keep up the great work and never ever give up. Thank you for spreading awareness for GBS I have never heard of it.
Such an inspiring story. GBS is such a difficult illness to recover from. Yet, this young lady pushed through her paralysis and began to walk again. Thank you rehab for assisting her to reach gial after goal. She is truly loved. May God continue to heal you and help regain mobilities not yet achieved. Bless you dear one.
I cried when she walked for the first time, especially when her therapist said "beautiful!". The boyfriend was so loyal and boy how many people supported you!!! That welcome home was wonderful. The group of physical therapists were amazing people!
Such a beautiful, uplifting story. Through Miranda’s pain and suffering, I saw the love of Jesus everywhere. I had goosebumps (Godbumps) the entire time. Godspeed Miranda.
What an inspiring true story of a young woman. Her family, friends, faith and boyfriend who stuck by her. May our Great God in Heaven bless and continue to use her story to encourage others. It surely has mine.🌹🙌👑
I am in nursing school studying this disease process and to hear about it and study it in a textbook vs. Seeing its effect on a real person is completely different. Thank you for sharing this very personal journey with the world. This was so inspiring and I will be thinking of you on my next exam when a question about GBS comes up! Thanks to God and bless you and your family > so happy to see you recovered 😊 p.s. hope that bf of yours is still around so happy he was by ur side and ur family support team ❤
You truly are a blessing of determination and love in a world that is so sadly dark at times. Thank you for your story and please keep healing and enjoying every minute of life
The pain is excruciating...I think only those who've had it can understand. The neurologists and intensivists in ICU were good to treat my neck pain but once I went to rehab. they really sucked at pain mgmt ! Santa Clara Valley Memorial in Callifornia was overall very good and I credit them with whatever function I got back, but one would think they would be better at treating pain ! I asked for hot packs and massage and they couldn't even seem to figure that out. But I am so grateful that I did not remain a quadriplegic, and today- 3 years later - I can walk with two sticks or a walker. A devastating syndrome which robs you of soooo much, and while I'm hugely grateful for the life I have TODAY, it only bears passing resemblance to the life I had before.Love and strength and the very best of luck to all who are dealing with this bizarre syndrome.
Miranda, you are a fighter with a tremendous support group behind you and faith in God. I have been through life threatening medical issues in my life. That was back in 2005 and, unfortunately, I'm still feeling the effects. However, by the grace of God and an amazing support group, I'm still alive today to write this. God bless you, your boyfriend (fiance?) and your family. I also want to thank you and your family for sharing this. I am passing it on myself.
I am so happy that she had so much support and therapies available to her. I had GBS with only therapies that my hubby could do with me. Miranda is so beautiful. Wishing her all the best.
you go girl i am happy for her congrats hunny my uncle had that i am so glad you made it you fought and you fought hard now look at you we look at you like nothing was wrong i bet your family friends are excited to have you back
For an unrelated incident, after a stint in the hospital, I went to a rehab facility. Let me tell you!!!! Rehab is over and above difficult to do. This girl has strength I will never have! Bless you sweetie, keep going.
I'm a GBS survivor, I can see my own journey... We're strong and so brave!
I am too!!
Bless you, Elisa and Nita!

Yes, Jesus is Lord!
My daughter had this. She’s a nurse now. Very inspired by her journey through this debilitating illness.
LOL a chiropractor's not a real doctor. You got a doctorate, you did not go through medical school.

I had this disease when I were 20 years old. Got admitted on December 4,1992, Discharge March 13, 1993. Thank God for his Healing😊😊😊😊😊
This is was so inspiring! I'm glad I chose the Occupational Therapy field, so that I can help people get back on their feet.

What a remarkable young woman. GBS is a terrible disease. It is truly a miracle that Miranda survived. She is truly a Warrior Princess.

What I have realised through this recovery process is no matter how hard it is you have to get out of that damn bed that's where your recovery process begins . As long as you still grab a breath Never give up.
God bless all
Yes she is, I am a survivor also!

AMEN AND AMEN HALLELUJAH 🙏🏼 🙌🏽 👏🏾 ❤️
Really inspiring. Not only seeing Miranda battle through this, but everyone supporting her, the folks at rehab hospital working so hard with her.
Cheers.
I’ve recently been diagnosed with a bad form of gbs as a response to covid - this gives me great hope!
How is the treating ?

She is so inspiring...watching this actually took my breath away. Cried and praise God for His amazing grace. God bless you young warrior.
What a remarkable young woman, surrounded by many loving and supportive family and friends. I hope she is doing well and is happy.
BRAVO TO YOUR DAD and you must have been devastated being so young. BRAVO TO YOU
My dad also had GBS.
❤❤
I used this song for my brain surgery recovery in rehab learning to to walk and balance again. We are strong girl, just keep fighting and WIN!!!

I was recently diagnosed with CIDP, the chronic version of GBS, I'm unbelievably thankful for videos like this, thank you so much!
I held in tears during the whole video but couldn't stop myself at 18:53 ! That's so wonderful ❤
I’m an occupational therapist for 30 yrs. This is why I love what I do. People like Miranda and her family are so inspiring! Never give up❤
Such a strong will. Beautiful support system. God bless you.
So inspiring and such determination. I can't believe the line up of people there to greet you home. You must be truly loved and are special
I had GBS and stayed in ICU for a month , and i fully recovered after 6 months , Thanks to god ♥️
Be positive and strong and you will beat it 💪🏻
Miranda, you’re my hero!! Overcomer is my new ringtone. Thank you for sharing your strength and faith.❤️❤️❤️
Such a horrible disease. I'm so happy she is doing well!! God bless you and all those who helped you along the way. ❤❤❤
This reminds me of my journey having pneumonia God bless her and those who support her
I am so happy for you Miranda. I have a friend who has had this over 3 years and her progression is not as fast as she hoped.
beautiful and inspirational. Miranda will go far in life with her strength and faith. May God continue to bless this lovely family.
my name is also Miranda and I recovered from GBS in 2002
How ???
Tell them how.
Look it up, and go to the beginning
I hope he has fully recovered ❤❤
you made a grown man cry
RAMACHANDRA MENON that's so sad.
Thank you to those who have read my loving sisters GBS story....

R u fully recovered bro ?
My sister is also a GBS patient. She has not recovered completely. She can't walk without shoes and it's been more than 12 years. It's good to see Miranda recovery and it gives us hope. My mom and dad took good care of her and mom went through so much and just 1 and half month ago I lost my father. He had mouth cancer and my poor mom did everything she can to take good care my father and sister. I'm so sad that I have to see my loved ones suffering. My heart aches but I have to smile in front of my sister and my mother.
Don't give up hope. Medicine is always improving.
this video and the love and determination of Miranda and the family is truly remarkable.
someone we love has just been sent to the hospital with GBS.
Bonnie Bower my mom is going thru this right now... Very scary but I'm educating myself on this disease
Wow. What a beautiful and valiant spirit. Wishing her the very best.
So happy I clicked on this video. Thank you so much for sharing. It was heartwarming seeing Miranda's beautiful smile come back.

My brother also came down with GBS during his Freshman year at college. At the time little was known. Fortunately he recovered about 90% use of his legs. Thanks for sharing your journey. Wishing you a happy and healthy life
Wow, I cried through almost the whole video. You and your family are inspirational.
Incredible story. God was with you. I’m so happy for you. What a trooper. I admire your strength and courage.
I am deeply touched. Cried so many times watching this video. I am so happy that finally through God's help she was able to sail through. Having confidence in God's ability to heal was the main thing here and this is a great testimony that never give up when you are ill. She fought very hard and God healed her ❤
That is a man’s man. Wishing you endless and complete love and recovery. ❤
Crazy how that illness causes you to re learn pretty much everything. I’m glad you are doing much better. You’ve done amazing. Thanks for sharing
What an incredible, courageous, inspiring woman to us all and the loving support from parents, family and friends and health professionals!!!
I’m so happy to see she’s okay 🙌🏽❤️. And so strong, a true fighter!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰❤️❤️❤️
I cried when she walked for the first time, especially when her therapist said "beautiful!". The boyfriend was so loyal and boy how many people supported you!!! That welcome home was wonderful. The group of physical therapists were amazing people!
Hi Miranda just watched your video, I'm 2 months in with GBS and its a wild ride. John
Such a beautiful, uplifting story. Through Miranda’s pain and suffering, I saw the love of Jesus everywhere. I had goosebumps (Godbumps) the entire time. Godspeed Miranda.
Blessing for health with love to all who showed up for this shero and her family!
Such an inspirational video, thank you for sharing your story. I’m so pleased everything worked out for you & you recovered quickly 😊
God Bless this beautiful young fighter.
Bendito sea Dios

Bravo à cette jeune fille et sa famille. Quelle solidarité extraordinaire. Je ne connaissais pas cette maladie. Quelle épreuve ! Belle vie à Miranda !
For an unrelated incident, after a stint in the hospital, I went to a rehab facility.
Let me tell you!!!!
Rehab is over and above difficult to do.
