This is by far the easiest way I've ever heard it explained. I just got a new horse and was worried if my saddle will fit. Thank you so much for the explanation!
Thanks for this video. We bought our daughter a saddle for Christmas and now need to measure to see if the current gullet will fit and if not, what size we need. 🤗
I measured my horse today and realized the saddle that the previous owner gave me for her is an inch too small. I knew it didn't fit right. Thanks for the instructions so easy
I was looking for a video like this for a long time.
At point 2.30 you show the measuring tape on the outside of the two panels, ie you're measuring between the space between the black inside panel and the outside brown leather covering. However, the 6 inches on the wire coathanger was against the horse. Surely the two inside black panels are at least half an inch each making the measurement more like 5 inches? I'm interested/ confused because I'm currently trying to fit saddles.
Can measuring gullet like this apply for western saddle?
This fits for western saddles too right? 🙈
thank you for this video im gonna measure my mare later today, I seen some rubbing on her shoulders and im worried the saddle doesn't fit her :/
Okay I have to ask. What is that your horse is drinking/eating?
I did the last one
4:03 "sounds like my dad eating"
How high are you. Jk 😛
This video was very helpful. Thanks for posting!
Glad it was helpful!
I love all your videos!!!! I just got my first horse ever!! I've wanted a horse my whole life and I finally got one, a rescue, at 47 years old!! Thanks for all your tips and advice!! Its so easy to understand!!
I just got my first horse at the age of 47!!
The panels of my saddle are supper padded which cause my saddle to have a lot of wither clearance. I can still put my hand under the panels with ease. Is that normal?
Doing some research for a novel. My MC needs to size two new horses for saddles. This helps tremendously and I can even replicate the measuring method in my writing. Thank you so much!!
Thank you this was very helpful would this work for a western fit as well ?
Nice video! Thanks
This is a normal persons 3 fingers 😂
THANK YOU 🙏 this was very helpful 🤗
Superb very nice information thank you very much.
Where did you get your halter?
Did you go to Harvard?
Is it the same on Wester as English
I'm wonering the same thing
Your horse is so beautifull and well behaved
One of the best videos out there for this info. Great job, girl!
Where did you get your black halter/leadrope? its beautiful and I'm looking to buy one like that. Very informative video, thank you!
It is very beautifull with her horse
Noo. This is not right. You can have a too narrow saddle, for high withered horses. It will be correct according to this, but pich your horse. And there are so many more things that are absolutely essential to get right. Doing this gets you not even half way there
I love "our goal is to get 1k subscribers by April", and today's subscriber count is 123k. Well done!
would this be the same for a western saddle? i want to make sure the saddle fits before i buy it and it wind up not fitting properly
Thank you for this! Just got a fjord and he's wide as all get out so I didn't know how to make sure a saddle would fit him
Thank you for making this so easy to understand! Shopping for a saddle now and I'm way more concerned about how it'll be for the horses I ride vs. me but hadn't found a simple explanation on sizing for horses until this. :)
I found you on Google on your webpage, after I had been watching you on RUclips. Sometimes it's nice to read things and digest it. I appreciate that. Was looking at the groundwork exercises to make respect. Very helpful. I was kind of amazed when I read that you're married. I figured this little sunny girl was a teenager. Lol Sending your video to my niece bc no joke, you're her doppelganger. Lol
really helpful; could you please do one for exactly how to measure for a bit? Need helllpppppp!
Wow. Never heard it explained like this and it makes perfect sense! I hate that probably most horse owners do not “fit” their horse properly. Bless the horses! 😢
Tysm!! Does this work for a western saddle too??
Outstanding explanation! Tucker is a Rock Star!!!
Was the saddle cinched down when putting your hand under it
Is it the same on western saddles
Thank you so much! This is the only video about jumping saddle fitting that makes sense!
Very helpful thank you ☺️
I agree this video was easy to understand. Thank you !!
Thank you🖤
I have a question. I want to save up money for a jumping saddle for a new(ish) horse. He is very young. I would like to start lightly saddle breaking him early on, so is it safe to keep a forever saddle when fitting a horse at two years old? I want to keep him happy and comfortable and if there is no option for me unless I have to buy another saddle when he gets old I will train him using a bareback pad. I would really like an answer to this because I wasn’t able to find articles addressing my specific issue. Thank you so much!
You have to continually a buy a growing horse new, fitted saddles. Even adult horses should be fitted at least once a year.
Super thakn you !
Thank you for this!!
Awesome. Thanks
Nice video. Just one question, do I need to add a little wide for the pad space?
You do need to calculate that, especially if you use a thicker saddle pad
I know this is a lot later, but does that mean that if my horse gullet size is six inches, i need a 7 inch gullet(not necessarily 7 inches, just bigger)saddle? Sorry, im just a little confused
you look like the type of bird to say 'gullet'
