The videography team on this project should be getting awards. The shot of the Mary on the tree is spectacular. Hopefully this series is indicative of what's to come from meat eater in the future.
Jesse is speaking the truth! Those kinds of shots sometimes take multiple tries until you get them just right. I was very close to nailing it, but my drone battery was getting too low for comfort. Immediate after I got that shot, the drone remote announced that it was landing the drone where it was. Considering the drone was only a few feet above the surface of the water, and now coming down fast, I had to react fast. It was only a few feet away so I immediately just went in to catch it. Sunk up to my waist in black bayou mud, but saved the drone and that shot of Mary. At 15:18 you can hear Jay say, "yeah heat em up over there boy we'll dry em out." He's referring to my pants haha
"We have two to three thousand dollars worth of coolers but not a thirty dollar table". That line nearly made me spit up my coffee, funny group of guys.
Makes me realize how little the people I'm surrounded by nowadays just don't understand the lifestyle I crave and grew up on. Don't take it for granted folks. Get outdoors and enjoy it while you can because civilization can't be stopped
Everytime I think meat eater couldn’t possibly get any better they go and drop somthing like this. There’s no one in the outdoor community that can hold a candle next to you guys . Awesome content .
The narration and music make me feel like this is the equivilent of "The Sandlot" but for hunters. Brilliantly done and wonderfully captured. I love it!
This is becoming more and more movie quality than anything I’ve ever seen on meateaters. That’s no slam against Steve this just has heart you don’t find many places
Definitely great quality. Not knocking Steve, though the past few videos I've seen of the man have seemed to be aired before. Maybe I've just been experiencing deja vu
I commented the other day about length w/ the first one being the typical 26min and have only gotten shorter! lol the gods have not heard me! at lease solid 30min fuck please haha
Man you truly can’t beat duck season with your best good podnas, a good dog, and stories we’ve all heard a thousand times but alway want to hear again.
Man yall this is what it's all about, what a great display of our rich and unknown to most culture! Thank yall for all the work that went into this series! Lache pas la patate!
Another awesome video, I guess everyone who enjoyed this video has come to the realization that you guys could hunt blindfolded with blanks and not kill a damn thing, but you still would EAT GOOD (understatement) , drink good stuff, and most of all pass a good time with all your PODNAS! And that's a fact jack.....good friends at a duck or deer or fishing camp with great food and throw in a few cold ones and that is what south Louisiana is all about! Thanks for sharing guys and glad Michael did not have to be THE JUG MAN again.
@@jean-paulbourgeois2871 Man this has made my week! I look forward to that one day and maybe adding some Mexican flare to those awsome Louisiana Cajun flavors.!
I love this show. Honestly wish there was one just like it for all the unique “places” in our awesome country. Love stories about “place” and the connections to it.
These are the best meat eater episodes that they have done so far in my opinion. I love how you have captured the true essence of hunting partners we have grown up with from child hood and have mixed in the desire for the old hunting camps our grandparents told us about as children it is truly wonderful. Absolutely awesome job men 👏
This might be my favorite series other than the main show that I have seen. Amazing cinematography, hunting, and fishing with a little bit of Cajun flare.
Incredible. The story telling puts into perspective how many hunters feel losing land their families have cherished for generations. Keep up the great work!
Makes me proud to be from Terrebonne Parish. You guys are doing an amazing job of capturing the beauty of our area and the camaraderie of South Louisiana people.
Beautiful hunts, friendships and food. California Quail hunter here. With great respect: Much concerned and heart-felt talk about the "Changing Environment," but no mention of Human-Caused Climate Change. You are looking at it.
The stories and relationships of these boys from deep Louisiana are similar to what I've experienced up in New England. I've been told the storys of how huge the salmon run used to be in New York and how we've lost so much of it. The fellas and I still take 10 days a year yo try are darndest to catch those big fish and enjoy every minute being together on the water and at camp.
I have never been to Lousiana, I live up here in freezing Finland that is completely different. Still from what I can see it has a beautifull rich nature. Makes me so sad to see the state of things all over the world. Brings a tear to my eye. Thanks for the beautifull video and inspiring words.
Love series like this. Hopefully it can continue to other areas of our country and types of hunting. Nice seeing how things are done differently in various regions.
Another great video, can’t wait for EP4. Even though I do all my duck hunting up here in East Missouri, I’ve been traveling to Venice, LA since Katrina went through and made some great friends down there. They’ve shared all the stories of the marsh loss throughout their life and I’ve seen it with my own eyes since fishing down there. It’s an unfortunate change for all in South LA that’ve raised generations hunting and fishing on the marsh and thinking about what’s in store for their children. And then there’s those that’ve lived off the marsh their whole lives not knowing any different. As mentioned in the video, there’s good intent to many man-made changes that cause irreversible harm to many others traditions and livelihood.
Thanks for the hunting trip and the great hangout with your boys! Lots to be thankful for as well as to work on for the future. But that takes work now. What are we doing to help and not hurt the environment that we all love? Awesome series. Cheers!
Really appreciate the respect for the GIS engineers. I'm a mech eng myself but love when the community appreciates the hard work my colleagues put into land preservation and impact studies. Great episode!
I can tell you things are changing everywhere. I live in western Maryland and the mountains of West Virginia. We just got opened back up about 5 yrs ago waterfoul seasons and only on a couple types of birds. We have been full closed season since the 50s
Awesome series. Fantastic production all around and great stories. I hope you do more like this - I grew up on a farm. Love the outdoors. Really hits home to appreciate what you’ve got when it comes to outdoors.
This episode pulled on the heart strings. Back in college, I formed a group that fundraised money to send a group of us students to spend 2 weeks as volunteers for Katrina cleanup work. We came down from Michigan and while I can't speak for the others, the magic and beauty of Louisiana and the bayou South has stuck deep within me ever since. It's a magical place that you inhabit. Keep telling these tales, bro.
@@jean-paulbourgeois2871 It was our pleasure. We met some of the most interesting and genuine people down there. Little glimpses like your show give credence to that sentiment - the people are the real treasure of Louisiana.
When you are in the South Louisiana bayou, it’s never “just a boat ride”. Our family has a place in the Maurepas management area that you can only get to by boat. The air in your face, from summer to fall and the smell of the swamp, is an experience I will always always always treasure! FYI. GIS is one of our best customer’s. So yea, damn right Dey great!
Jean Paul, many thanks for these video documents. I am from the Morgan City area and know the importance of preserving a sense of freedom in a very alienated society.
I passed up a shot at 3 drake canvasbacks flying tip to tip at 25 yards last year because for one second I assumed they were mergansers. Hating every second of remembering that.
Sad story but it's the same thing across the south. Even inland, in the 70's when drain tile and center pivot irrigation was introduced and all the swamps and ditches were drained for commercial ag. Now most these low lying areas don't produce any crops, mostly because the lack of sufficient drainage for it to dry out before planting, if it does get planted the yields are never as good as the elsewhere in the field. I would love to see these inland wetlands restored, most of them are overgrown with invasive weeds and trees and only get mowed down once every few years when it's dry enough to do so. I have heard stories of plentiful ducks of all species in the 70's, now you can only find wood duck holes. Which I am glad to have, but I would love to see the southeast inlands restored to give these ducks another option for winter migration.
This is the most epic video soundtrack and commentary.. it rivals Blue Planet! Don’t get me wrong, I love Steven, Cal and Janis.. but this is sick! Thank you! I’m 3 in about to start S1E4!

This short series is a home run and is put together so well that it harkens an emotional connection to the story. Y’all guys nailed it with this one.
