I was at that Color Conference where DawnCheré preached that sermon Slow Burn, i still have snippets from it and thats where i came to fall in love with her as a person and as a preacher. The message resonated with me so much, though i wasnt exactly in the same but similar situation we had something in common which was a desire for something for a long time, and to this day that desire is still very much strong within me and when i start to feel like im drowning from that desire i ALWAYS think of her sermon. It was such a great sermon. She also talked about how to be present and happy for others when they are being blessed with those very things you desire. If you are reading this DawnCheré that is Sermon that needs do over for the people who are in that season💜

Dearest Holly,
I could write you a book about all the things I want to share with you, but after watching this video I must share a little bit with you here. (I would write you an email if I knew my time well sacrificed would make it to you.)
A. You have all that it takes to give grace even when you feel overwhelmed. YOU were the one who opened MY eyes to the concept of “be the thermostat in your home , not the thermometer. (BMB)” So you already know it, you simply must apply it to your children as well as your husband. 🤍
B. You spoke of praying “please let my children forget this moment.” But, I want to encourage you to pray “please allow me to make this moment memorable.” And this is why: Over and over again I find myself down on my knees humbling myself before my children (5 & 6yo). I decided that instead of being upset about my “failures” to handle a situation gracefully I would bring my kids into my situation by admitting what I didn’t like about my actions and asking for forgiveness while mentioning how I am going to handle it better next time.
It’s such a win win because I am not ashamed of my weaknesses anymore but am able to show my children many things they will benefit from. 1.Adults make mistakes, too; 2.That I feel my children deserve better than how I treated them; 3.That one day when they are weak, they may ask God for wisdom on how to handle it better and He will give it to them; 4.That no one is ever perfect no matter how old you get; 5.That Grace comes to those who are willing to humble themselves before others; and finally, 5.That NO one is enough, without God. That without Him we lack things we must have in order to LOVE OTHERS WELL. (The list goes on)
LOVE OTHERS WELL. This is my main goal, for myself and for my children.
“I give you a new command: Love others the same way I have loved you.” John 13:34
We NEED God to love others the way we should. If we aren’t strongly projecting that truth into our children’s lives they will have the same struggles we have with inadequacy and make the same mistakes trying to lean into their own goodness instead of Gods.
Our children will pray the same prayers we pray. That is a blessing and a truth we must recognize in order to strengthen our relationship with God, and lead future generations well.
