Whatever legacy Egon thinks he has, is now tarnished with this whole rhyme book stunt. What a sad little man he is.
Dude’s a legend… dont be mad
@ExceedinglyPreoccupied he for sure is, but what he did is pretty rat behavior, and to another legend no less
I've been trying to figure this one out. It's such a sad story..
Seems like he is doing anything for some dollars.
How about how he’s releasing Quasimoto music because Madlib doesn’t own Quasimoto, Egon does
These guys are so deep into music and collecting it's ridiculous, I love it.
Love coming back to this video still.
Get madlib on!!!!
I like how he brings up the money angle and regrets about past purchases. Those are the kind of stories you will always hear from the deepest record collectors.
Thank you, Egon. You have introduced me to so much music and my heart has swelled because of your efforts. Eternally grateful.
I love watching all these crate diggers DJ collections while I don't collect vinyl because they are hard to find in my city I do collect video games from the Atari 2600 up. So I get a kick out of watching other collectors and their collections. It makes me feel better that other people have bigger collection than my video games collection.
Give back the books
this guys sounds like more of a dealer than a collector
he's a business oriented dude.. in order for him, his business and this whole archival process that he's a part of to be successful it's imperative that he's clear cut, precise and to the point.. plus different personalities obviously express themselves differently. if you look beneath surface analysis it's obvious that he has an immense passion for what he does
He is literally a record dealer. What a stupid comment.
He’s a businessman
He can be both, ya know.
If I ever say the words "I'll buy anything from Zambia," that's when my friends should set up a record collecting intervention.
Idk man you need to hear some of that zambian stuff
@@yabukidro 4real they got a great rock groups!
What? That's when you know the diggin is real man
After this, I'm officially an Egon fan. Dude has some of the greatest stories.
This aged well. 😥
One of the best episodes of Crate Diggers... My first glance at the Video I though Donavon had a Crate Diggers Episode LMFAO!
In terms of sheer obscurity, I think the only person who could possibly surpass this is Madlib. Even guys like Shadow and all the big producers of the 90s haven't tapped into rare music from the unknown corners of the world like Madlib and Egon have. Quality over quantity -- literally every record he pulled out here is worth thousands.
That Galt McDermott acetate flex was so lowkey I fucking got blown back into my wall.
I love the fact that these guys get the weirdest records that hardly anyone has ever heard of or come from around the world.
One of the best shows on the Internet
I could listen to that man speak all day.
one of the greatest episodes to date.. what an amazing collection
His record collection is universal......I like that....Dope...
This episode was INSANE!
Makes me wanna toss my ENTIRE collection out the damn window.
Perhaps the biggest name dropper of all time?
Talking about various musicians/bands, and actually knowing what one is talking about is definitely not "name-dropping". It's talking intelligently about obscure music.
@@Toddkray cause he just kinda throws out madlib being his partner in the beginning
The man has deep roots. I’d have to fact check, but I believe he helped start Stone’s Throw. What might seem like name dropping is simply how it is. If you’re brother is He-Man, you’re gonna say He-Man a bit.
NOPE.. watch the Mark Ronson episode.
1:35 you are obviously the swindler
The audacity of this vulture calling anyone “swindler”
This guy defines humblebrag.
Good to know someone search for brazillian records, as a brazillian I know few people who REALLY look for those deep tracks... Cheers from Brazil!!
New Crate Diggers!! YES! Never heard of Egon, but super pumped by the positive comments so far.
Gotta love this Dude, Loved this Episode, Preemo, Q-Tip, Large Professor, Marley Marl, Showbiz, Buckwild, Prince Paul, DJ Mark 45 King, K-Def, Madlib, MF DOOM, Salaam Remi, Alchemist, 9th Wonder, Statik Selektah etc, Peace
Egon is no dummy he has the what what on everything he owns! Thanx Fuse!
Did he giveback the rhyme book yet?
Enormous LP ! Just incredible..
What a great episode, makes you wanna dig right after watchin
word. Egon has put Madlib on a lotta records..
people dont see what they dont see.
Four Tet if he actually got some rest
LOL amazing
i'm glad i watched this
Super awesome collection!!!!
When the fuck are they gonna get Madlib on this show?
True!
never...madlib dont want nobody knowing what records he has.
I don't even think Madlib knows what records he owns lol, that episode would just be unrealistic to begin with
#GIVEBACKMFDOOMSNOTEBOOKS
THIS IS THE BEST SHOW ON THE PLANET WAX
I traded with this dude back when he was still in Vanderbilt
Yess! I told you you should do egon and you did it.
4:45 that album is The Feed-Back by The Group, a great Krautrock record with a young Ennio Morricone on trumpet
thank u!
Damn, great shit... Such an interesting cat!, I knew he was a hardcore crate digger, but never knew he was such a connoisseur... Loved this one!
drinking beer and talking about funk, jazz, blues all day
Great and diverse collection.
The man is passionate about his work
third time ive seen that stark reality vinyl on crate diggers
Has anybody EVER used that album though?
Bronz Khrome Meat Beat Manifesto just off the top of my head.
@@bronzkhrome4024 Only time I've consciously heard it sampled was Main Source - "Only The Real Survive".
Ah man, I'm sure Madlib has some rare stuff but Egon is a boss of the record game. He is putting Madlib up on game.
(if u didn't already know)
Wish it was an hour long
yeah i agree
WORD!
Very cool,,,
He learned how to speak his wife's language through lyrics in the vinyl.
I've heard of Egon but I never knew his work or what he looked like etc. After seeing this I really like the guy. He's himself he has knowledge he just seems real cool. I'm definitely very interested and going to find stuff he's done. Anyone have any suggestions of his work?
I don't think he makes music, he's a collector, manager and a&r
Egon is an occasional DJ
Ah Arthur Verocai that guy is just amazing !!!!
Geek level infinite. knee deep in the beats.
what a good lad
Arthur Verocai......so brilliant
The only thing I can suggest is for you to watch back the early crate diggers episodes. Stark Reality is, in essence, the rarest record going. Thousands, possibly tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands dollars/pounds.
This guy stole MF DOOM's notebooks
Really interesting!
Seems like a very humble dude. Also a CT graff legend which is where the name, Egon, carries over from I'm assuming.
they need to get KEV BROWN on this show!
Great stories egon, the rhyme book stealer 😒
Didactic Dude!!!
THis the type of cat you sit down with for hours and build...
I like your comment. Long live vinyl.
Seems like a proper cool fella !
Gotta check this Madlib dude.
Thats the shit yo!!!! craaazy
God I want that Arthur Verocai so bad!
They need to get Gilles Peterson on this show
check out Tim Maia, Marcos Valle, Cassiano, Antonio Adolfo, Djavan, Deoadato, Jorge Ben
salve Jorge Ben!
When are we going to get this Madlib edition?
I'm a fan of the music yes, not super knowledgable about the label however, still got a lot of reading up to do. This alone though sparked enough interest to do so.
Econ talks about the one record that James brown test press that has extra unpublished songs. I wish someone would find and putout all of dr dre's unpublished music that he did for detox or just for himself.
Not many can top this... Dante Carfagna, DJ Shadow, the Numero guys maybe. I'd love to see more of what's in those shelves!
miguel atwood-ferguson, marcos valle, the ipanemas, azymuth, edu lobo and banda black rio are all fairly similar
Those days are over.
I see that a lot of producers are inspired by Brazilian music/artists. I just discovered Arthur Verocai a few weeks ago and i loved his music ! I was wondering if anyone could advise me other artists to check in this style ?
Chico Buarque!
Pulling out The Stark Reality like it's nothing!
he wins!
hope this somewhat appeases the bros desperately crying for a Madlib episode.
check out his mix "stone cold psychedelic soul" it's on youtube.
Click the annotations to hear the songs. They can't legally play the songs in the video.
Hey Egon do you have any Top drawer?
NEW SUBSCRIBER !..
It must be nice to be filthy rich and able to travel all around the world, buy entire record collections, and even fund other peoples' trips.
play some of the music!
casually pulls out og stark reality lol
I fucking love Egon. Dude is the absolute shit!
Egon needs to sign F.L.E.E.
If I had to choose just one album to take with me on a deserted island, it would be that Verocai album.
YOOOOOO HOW COULD YOU!! WHATS IN YOUR MIND LATELY?!!. I JUST READ A NEWS THAT INVOLVED Madlib, DOOM, and J-Dilla
That guy is busy as hell. Also he does like to to what he want to do and it seems he doesn't like his fame ;)
11:34 holy shit that's gotta be the education beat thats insane
Nah bro probably something off Mos defs the ecstatic. Madlib isn't one to sit on beats for years like that. The ecstatic had several madlib joints
jacobstern93 madlib might not be but the artists that rap on them can. i think the beat for no more parties in la was like 5 years old before it was released
@@sb.c thed beat for no more parties in LA was 10 years old when it dropped. Refer to the Interview Madlib did with Complex at the end of 2019
Think it's 'endless cold' from the beat konducta in africa album
@@drainos4522 Endless cold*
I feel like he'd have an interesting conversation with Nardwuar
never has the sentence "captain beefheart and more obscure stuff" been said so casually
give the Dumiles DOOM's notebook!
What is a tater beetle 2:33
I knew this cat was cool when I saw him in "Thundersoul" - story of the Kashmere Stage Band........dope shit!
